View Full Details of Autumn LodgeMy mother was admitted to Autumn Lodge in August 2021. She is 84, and after a fall had lost virtually all her ability to walk. In those circumstances, it was impossible for her to be looked after at home. The admission to Autumn Lodge went well, and for a few days, Mum and her family members were happy with the placement. Then there appeared to be a bizarre and illogical change of attitude by certain senior staff members. They seemed to decide that Mum could actually walk after all, if she would just try harder. These staff told me they were 'encouraging' Mum, but this encouragement included comments like 'You're not helping yourself', 'You're not trying hard enough' and 'You did it this morning, so you can do it again now.' This left Mum extremely distressed. Other staff would treat her with far more compassion, and give her the help she needed. This whole experience negated the otherwise good aspects of the care provided by Autumn Lodge, and the family moved her to another care home.
This home is family run and you can tell. The family/management are always on hand to assist, especially the manager and care manager. Staff are warm, friendly and always reassuring. My aunt was always happy and always felt safe. As a family, this was most reassuring.
This home really is a home. Staff are friendly and welcoming and cater to all needs. My friend has been here 4 years now. She always has a smile on her face n classes the carers her friends.
My Father spent two years at Autumn Lodge residential care home. It soon became his home and the staff his friends. It was a comfort to know he was so well looked after and happy there. It is family run and they together with their dogs provide a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere where there is always a respect for people's dignity. The staff are the greatest asset, at all times they are friendly and warm. I would like to convey my greatest thanks to them and would highly recommend this care home.
