View Full Details of Barchester Crabwall Hall Care HomeMy Mum came to Crabwall Hall for respite care on the 4th February 2025. The staff led by the manager have all been amazing from the initial contact, to arranging the respite, being flexible with us and on the day of arrival itself. I can't praise them highly enough! The home is wonderful and of a very high standard and although Mum took a little while to settle in, I'm sure she will very soon!
My mother stayed for two weeks respite care. This was a difficult time for her. The staff were very kind, cheerful and helpful and made her stay as comfortable as possible. In particular, the manager made every effort to accommodate our mother's wishes and was flexible and positive. This flowed down to all her team. Thank you.
Mum has just had a two-week stay at Crabwall Hall; she settled in very well and enjoyed sitting outside in the garden and the afternoon activities in the lounge. All the staff were very friendly and caring. If Mum needed a little holiday again, I would be happy for her to stay again.
We have taken our mum to Barchester Crabwall Hall Care Home for a couple of weeks respite care following a spell in hospital with pneumonia and subsequent breathing difficulties. Every single member of staff has been kind and caring and very patient towards her, even when she has been behaving in a difficult manner! We could not have wished for more. Everyone who has visited her there has been extremely impressed with the facilities and the care provided. If she needs any further nursing care or respite care in the future, we will definitely be requesting a place at Crabwall.
I, as usual, was treated in a friendly way as possible. My name was remembered by most staff which surprised me. I found the lack of clothe pegs in my room annoying. I found the fee expensive.
The day arrived for us to put Mum in a home. She is of sound mind and body but she had given up on life and stopped looking after herself since Dad died. She wasn't eating, washing or taking care of herself and was incredibly lonely (her choice). She was literally smoking and drinking. My brother and I viewed many homes of a huge price range. Some we didn't like the staff, some the smell, others the plastic furniture etc. Then we looked at Barchester Crabwall Hall Care Home in Chester. From the first moment we knocked at the door, all our lives have been transformed. Mum is a totally, utterly different person. She settled in well and it was a big adjustment for us all. The staff supported me in understanding why she would be acting in a certain way (temporarily carrying around a huge bag of possessions), repetitive conversations, her opinions. Eighteen months later; we are so happy, she's a joy to visit and thanks to their social media page, I can see what she's been up to, as she forgets. The food is outstanding and so is the care.
My brother has been living in Crabwall Hall for 3 years now. Since living there he is noticeably happier and in a better place mentally than living at home alone. All the staff are so caring, patient and welcoming to residents and family alike and happy to chat about any concerns which might occur. My brother tells everyone, “ Living at Crabwall is like living in a hotel”. It has been a lifeline for him and for me as his only family member.
Excellent and caring staff that really know my mum. They keep in touch about anything I need to know and this makes a stress-free experience at a time when you worry most about their care. A stimulating programme of activities that keep her interested and young at heart. Well done to all of the staff team.
We are extremely happy with the care provided to our aunt. She has dementia and the staff are wonderful at helping her to join in the wide range of activities each day. Her general welfare, safety and happiness are important to us and we feel Barchester Crabwall Hall Care Home achieves a great balance for her. Staff are always welcoming and approachable.
Mum is very happy here. She really likes the carers and they like her. It is top-quality care but it is expensive compared to other facilities. The location and gardens are first-class. Mum's care and happiness are most important.
My mother was welcomed to Barchester Crabwall Hall Care Home on discharge from hospital. She stayed for two and a half weeks prior to transferring to alternative, independent accommodation. All staff were extremely friendly, helpful and informative. When required, my mother will stay again or visit for tea.
All staff go above and beyond, very approachable. I do feel the dynamics of the residents have changed and there are a lot with low-level dementia. This has impacted on my relative as she can't have the same companionship as when she first arrived. The activities are geared to the dementia residents which does not always suit my relative.
My mum has thrived here. They've encouraged her to participate in activities she enjoys, whether it's a lively game of bingo or a relaxing session of quizzing. They've also been fantastic in helping her manage her medication and daily needs. Most importantly, they've created a sense of community and belonging for her. She's made new friends and seems genuinely happy, which is all I could ever ask for. If you're looking for a care home that offers exceptional care in a warm and welcoming environment, look no further than here. They've truly become a second home for my mum and I can't recommend them highly enough.
