View Full Details of Mayfield HouseMum sadly passed away this week at age 94 after nearly 6 years at Mayfield House. The home has always cared for her in a caring and loving way and excelled during Covid when we were not allowed to visit. Over the years us, the family, have been cared for as well as Mum. They have felt like part of our extended family and always helped with our constant requests and questions. When Mum first went there the home itself was a bit dated (fully updated now) but the care was first class and to us that was the most important thing.
I was part of a team last week decorating the home for Christmas. I can honestly say it was an honour to be part of such a wonderful welcoming home. We were made to feel very welcome and the residents loved watching the trees go up and even helped out. We were given a lovely lunch and a tour around the building and grounds. I wasn't expecting the residents to have their own pub/lounge area and hairdressers. I would definitely like to be part of the volunteer team again whenever they need me.
Mum came to Mayfield House in March last year. It has been very hard for my dad, but he visits every day and is part of the family at Mayfield. I am very grateful to all the staff for the care they have shown to all of our family.
We go up to visit my dad several times a year. I am pleased to say that he seems very happy and content. Mayfield House posts regular updates on what they are doing with various activities. I find these updates very helpful as when I speak to Dad on the phone he is always very vague about what he has done. I know that recently he went to the Panto in Crewe and a Remembrance service in November. I am particularly impressed by the standard of food served. Thanks Mayfield House staff!
Our mum has been in Mayfield for a few years now! As a daughter, it was the hardest decision to put mum in a home, but unfortunately we as a family, all working full time, believe me, the hardest decision of my and my sister's life! Still feel guilty now. Mum stayed at Mayfields while recuperating, she liked it there! So as a decision had to be made, no question we opted for Mayfields. Well, several years later I can say my mum is so happy there. The staff are so caring, so loving. We ring the home several times, they are used to us now! To us mum is our queen! They are so accommodating, even when we want a family meal, they will accommodate us! No question we recommend Mayfields highly. They are our mum's second family.
My auntie came to Mayfield in July 2021, a particularly difficult time for her, having lost her husband of 59 years earlier that year in May, and with her own substantial health issues. It is always an incredibly difficult decision to put a loved one into a residential care home so getting it right was so important. All the staff form an amazing, dedicated team, creating a kind, caring, stimulating environment and she is always treated with patience, understanding and respect. The staff always ensure that she not only looks her best, but she is also well fed with a high standard of food. My auntie can socialise in the lounges and participate in the activities offered or can spend as much or as little time as she wishes in her own room. We can now relax knowing that she is being looked after 24/7. We only have the highest praise for them. A huge thank you to everyone! N.B. Due to some of the restrictions placed during COVID, I'm unable to rate some of the areas asked.
My mother has been in Mayfield for a few years now and I couldn’t wish for better care. The team know her well, and she is safe and happy there and sees it as home. As a relative nothing is too much, whenever I call they always ensure questions are answered or it is passed to someone who can help. The home itself has always been clean and tidy and my mum's room and belongings looked after. The food looks and smells delicious and my mum is encouraged to sit in the dining room to make mealtimes a social occasion as well. I am so pleased that she is there as through the last couple of years it’s been reassuring to know, even though guidelines have kept us apart at times, she has been looked after and loved by the team.
I highly recommend Mayfield, the care, compassion, communication, and lots of laughter from all the staff. I was really concerned when my dad was ready to be placed in care but all my concerns went when we met everyone. All staff, not just the care staff, treat my dad with respect and dignity. The choice of meals is amazing especially as Dad is really fussy. Nothing is too much trouble and if we as a family have any questions or concerns we are always listened to.
My nan has been in Mayfield for 3 years and the care she has had has been fantastic. The staff are amazing, we have a great relationship with them as I can be very demanding as she is a very precious member of our family. They have helped her cope with lockdown and she classes some staff members as part of her extended family, yeah there are areas for improvement but you can say that about anywhere I would definitely recommend Mayfield for any family looking for caring staff to look after their loved ones.
This is not the place I thought it was, my mum, is very unhappy there. She never finds anything out that's going on, no one gives her any information like when they're closed at the home due to covid. She's never told and wonders why relatives cannot visit her. Every time you ask anything the answer is always I don’t know, the constant answer you get from all staff. When staff can be bothered to call in a room which is not often and when they do call at a room, they stand by the door and can’t wait to get away again. My mum who’s 82 is all fine in her mind it’s just her walking etc that is not good. Staff should be listening to their patients and giving them some time, god knows they don’t see many people in a week, and staff at Mayfield are really negative in their answers and never give enough time to chat with people in the home which to me is appalling. Please way up the pros and cons before your relative goes into Mayfield as mum and I wish we had never seen the place. A very concerned daughter.
I am so thankful that Mayfield House were able to take my mother. She has been there since April 2016 and although her general health has deteriorated, due to her advanced age and condition, she is extremely settled and comfortable there. The staff are all so friendly and supportive and they really treat my mother like one of their family. I am very satisfied that my mother is safe and well looked after and I would not want to have her anywhere else.
