View Full Details of ParklandsNothing to report, my experience has been excellent.
My mother feels safe, secure and happy living at Parklands and as her daughter I can see she is very well looked after by kind, caring and compassionate staff. The management and staff have created a homely atmosphere and there is a lovely community spirit amongst the residents. All the staff and management are approachable, they will listen and take note of any comments and only have the best of intentions for all of the residents. Over the past year, I have seen many improvements made to the fabric and facilities of the building, all for the better, but some are still needed and the plan is sometimes not clear but is very much ongoing. Similarly there have been many more lovely events put on for the residents which we have been invited to participate in as relatives and the care home staff work hard to entertain and stimulate the residents to maintain their quality of life. We are very happy that we chose Parklands for my mother.
Parklands is certainly the best place for my mum! She’s settled in very well over the last year, she’s made good friendships, she is very well cared for by the staff who are all extremely professional, friendly and capable. The atmosphere is welcoming and uplifting. The more we visit, the more we become familiar with all the residents and staff and this gives a lovely family feeling which is an admirable quality and appreciated by all of us. Parklands also listen to their residents and their relatives, they welcome suggestions to enhance the experience of the residents and welcome any positive interaction. The position of Parklands is terrific too! It’s so easy to go out for a walk with my mum (in a wheelchair) to go for coffee, to potter around the shops, go for lunch, to join in Golden Memories meetings at the Civic Centre, or Living Well at St George’s Church, or even spend some time in the library or walk to the cricket club to watch a match, all within a 10 -15min walk.
My mother has been in the care of Parklands since October 2023, and I am extremely happy with the quality of care she is receiving. It is very noticeable that there are always plenty of staff on hand and that her needs are always met.
The care staff genuinely care for the residents and know exactly how to relate to each and every one of them. I would say this is the single most important aspect of any care home. The food is great and everyone who comes in to do hair, take care of feet, sing and play games are all lovely with the residents. Top care home!
My sister-in-law said... I am happy here... That was all I wanted to know. She looks so much better and has really settled in. Two words for staff; professional and caring. Also, she is now enjoying her food, and the attention to detail of the chef, who checks her likes and dislikes. We are so pleased to see her joining in with other residents and making friends; this is what she really needed as life recently hasn't been easy. All in all a great move!
Parklands is the best care home we’ve had my nan in. She’s respected and treated with dignity by the caretakers and the food they eat smells great. The residents are allowed to walk around wherever (as long as they aren’t making trouble) unlike one of the other care homes we had my nan in. We’re glad my nan lives there and that the people responsible for her life are doing great with her.
My mother moved to Parklands from her own home in September 2023. We were very worried that she wouldn’t settle. However, within days we were all reassured. The staff did everything to make her welcome and their care and kindness overcame her concerns and our anxiety. She is so much happier than she was living alone. She enjoys the company of the other residents and especially the activities organised. Everyone I speak to, from management to all the carers they go the extra mile to reassure and help.
I am pleased how my mother is well cared for. All the staff are very competent and friendly.
From the second my mum went into respite I felt she was in very safe and caring hands. Phone communication has been brilliant as I am reassured "everything is ok" straight away so I don't worry. The home lets me know if my mother needs anything like money, toiletries, clothes, and favourite drinks. They are very accommodating about visiting. The staff do things the way my mother likes I.e. milky coffee. They work hard to make sure she eats and drinks well. My mother loves there being a pet rabbit in the garden to watch and stroke. The staff are cheerful and it's a fun atmosphere. I like that music is played in the dining area. The home itself is light, airy and spacious and a comfortable temperature. The open space has encouraged my mum to walk about and maintain good mobility. I see lots of aids, seat pads, zimmer frames, etc available and encouraged to be used. It's been lovely to see seasonal decorations go up that look like children have made them and birthday balloons be on show.
An excellent caring community. My 92 year old mum is a resident at Parklands and has received the benefit of the consistently professional levels of care and warmth provided. Her health, wellbeing and happiness have benefitted from the excellent facilities and caring relationships. My wife and other family members visit her at least four times a week and have witnessed the excellent provision offered by all at Parklands. Before choosing Parklands my wife and I consulted local health professionals, read CQC reports taking note of their ratings and visited all the care homes that were recommended. Parkland's caring atmosphere, the high quality of relationships between staff and residents, the excellent programme of activities and the quality of accommodation and food all made Parklands stand above the other good care provision in Poynton.
Staff are very kind and loving toward residents. Always helpful and welcoming. Felt happy that my relative was in good hands while I wasn't there. There always seemed to be lots of activities going on which residents were welcome to join in despite any medical issues! Something for everyone. My relative's personal carer was outstanding always taking time to listen to her needs and making sure she had everything that she needed, she was also very quick to inform the family of any problems or anything that was needed to make my relative's life more comfortable.
Not allowed in resident's room, visits cut to half an hour in the middle of communal area. No privacy. Difficult to book visits. Lost clothes, in other people's clothes. On leaving this home, they had put the mobile phone through the washer. Lost hearing aid and walking stick which was named, only sent half medication on leaving. Management is worse than staff.
I think the staff at Parklands are terrific - through the Covid-19 time they have coped very well and have been terrific in looking after my mother. The staff are always polite, caring and kind.
Although the care given is good the surroundings could be improved, some interior improvements have been made in the past year or so. The exterior of Parklands is usually rather shabby, worn-out doormat untended flower planters, bits of litter around the door, all of which give a rather neglected impression. The effort needed to improve this would be minimal.
The care home staff work as a team. They communicate whereby all staff, no matter what rank or on which duty, are fully aware of my mother's needs. The staff are kind and compassionate to Mother and respect her dignity. They are also very respectful of me and my position in Mother's circle of care. They make Mother and me feel part of the family. Parklands are extremely proactive in detecting and acting upon infections etc which means Mother recovers quickly. I cannot praise the staff enough for their expertise and care.
My grandmother is currently in Parklands and I cannot fault the level of care and attention she has received. We would recommend this home to anyone looking for somewhere with a homely feel with amazing, friendly staff.
Very clean!! Most helpful very friendly caring nature. Excellent job from all the carers and staff at Parklands. We are delighted to see our mother getting settled. Keep up the good work and thank you.
After visiting my mother in Poynton I can clearly see that everyone really cares about all the residents. My mother has had trouble remembering her room when I asked her why " all the doors are white and look the same" one of the cares suggested we put a picture on the door so we put her dog on the front of the door, now mum knows her room or flat as she calls it. I would like to thank all the staff and manager who has taken a lot of interested in helping my mother get settled. The home is very clean the food seems to be good although mum did care for the fish in batter on the Fridays so now they give mum the fish in sauce, five star service! Many thanks to everyone for taking time to visit with my mother and chat with her. You are all so very kind! Thank you again
Staff friendly and courteous, nothing was too much. There's a sense of real caring from the manager down to the lowest carer.
