View Full Details of Plessington CourtMum lived at Plessington Court for the last 2 years of her life. It became her home and she was cared for in the most amazing way by staff who showed her all the love and understanding you could possibly wish for. Plessington is a light, clean, modern building with en-suite bedrooms. The gardens and the dementia-friendly cafe in the grounds were visited often. The thing which makes Plessington outstanding, however, is the people. They are knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and dedicated to making the lives of the residents as full and happy as possible. Mum’s love of singing, poetry, and knitting were all encouraged and she loved the staff, all of whom were known as ‘nice lady’. Mum passed away at Plessington in July following a stroke. The carers were truly wonderful, preserving Mum’s dignity and well-being to the last. Their love for her and support for us made them part of our family and the hardest of times more bearable. I cannot recommend Plessington Court highly enough.
I cannot fault Plessington Court, all the staff go above and beyond from the kitchen staff and carers to the manager, they all take time with all the residents and nothing is too much trouble. The food and cleanliness is also excellent. I am so glad that my mum is here where she is happy and so well cared for. We saw a few other places but nothing compares to Plessington. If you want your loved ones somewhere that is 5-star do not hesitate to choose Plessington.
Mum has been in Plessington Court for about 8 weeks and tells the family daily that she loves it. Mum has a beautiful room with an ensuite bathroom and has been able to bring her favourite things from home with her. She has a view of fields and trees from her bedroom window and the whole building has a wonderfully calm atmosphere. This home has exceptional staff who care very much for each resident and strive to help each person enjoy their lives. Mum has received loving care and attention from day one and when she has been confused and asking repeatedly to 'go home' they have treated her with respect and love. They encourage mum to help with small chores to make her feel valued. One lovely carer wrote a very special note in her personal notebook about how much they loved having her live there, telling her how special she was to them all and this kindness has really helped her settle. The management and staff are all outstanding. Our family feels so lucky that mum is in their care.
We made the difficult decision that Mum needed the 24-hour support of a care home after her dementia meant that staying at home was no longer safe. Plessington Court felt like a place where she could feel at home. We liked the small size (at that time 19 ensuite bedrooms) and nice decoration. Mum lived at Plessington Court for over three and a half years. The team were unfailingly kind to Mum. The Manager contacted me in Feb 20 to discuss Mum's care during Covid lockdown. Mum's health was on a gentle decline. Like all families, we had the difficult situation of being unable to visit, but the team at Plessington Court focused on supporting residents and their families from afar. They sent weekly newsletters with photos-we sent seeds to grow. Their new Activities Coordinator contacted us for stories and photos to create a memory box/framed picture. They made a great covid-secure visiting room. We were allowed to visit as she reached the end of life, Mum knew we were there.
Plessington was the right fit for my dad. The onset of his condition - vascular dementia - at 67 made it very difficult to find a home that could cater to his needs, while still allowing him to be himself as a relatively young man. We had hit crisis point prior to stumbling across Plessington and instantly, I felt reassured by the manager's calm competence. Despite having to admit my dad during COVID times, the transition was smooth and we had a lot of support from the manager with regards to liaising with my dad's nurse and mental health practitioner. He settled better than we thought he would, and the staff did everything they could to allow my mum to visit him regularly in the home's purpose-built visitor pod. All of the staff are caring and genuine, and they looked after my mum's mental wellbeing as well as my dad's. Plessington truly takes an individual approach to each family's needs, and we are so grateful.
Mum is well looked after here. She has good days and bad, but the care and attention she received are great. The home is clean and tidy, bright and colourful, and many activities go on throughout the year. All staff attend to her every need and are always willing to stop and discuss Mum's needs, problems etc.
While it is difficult to gather first-hand information now visits have been postponed because of the Covid-19 virus, my impression is that the management and staff are continuing to provide a high level of care for the residents. My cousin (the resident), although suffering quite severely from dementia, always tells us how well she is being looked after and the evidence from our visits (before they had to stop) is consistent with this. They have always encouraged communication with the residents and were quick to set up a video calling facility and timetable when the virus precluded visits. This was particularly helpful for my wife and I, as we live 50 miles away from the home and enabled twice-weekly video calls, sometimes involving more physically distant family members. In particular, the measures that have been put in place to protect the residents from infection by the virus appear to have worked very well to date, despite initial problems obtaining testing and PPE.
The staff are doing the most amazing job of looking after residents during this most difficult of times. I can only imagine how tiring and stressful their daily work must be and I am truly humbled by the dedication, commitment and kindness of everyone at Plessington Court. Thank you so much for all you do, you really are the best!
My Nan has been using this service for 3 months now and we could not be more happy with the service provided.
My mother has been a resident of Plessington Court for the last seven years and is now in the end stages of Alzheimer's. Throughout her time at Plessington, she has been treated with great kindness and respect. Her health and mental wellbeing has always been monitored carefully. The staff are friendly and helpful and I have full confidence in the homes manager.
My mother has been at Plessington Court for a year now. I was impressed with the fact that it is light, modern and small. Most residential homes, are large. Plessington Court, takes only up to 20 residents. The staff are young bright and enthusiastic. They do all sorts of activities with the residents - different crafts - flower arranging etc. The tables for dining are always set nicely with tablecloths and napkins. Residents clothes are all nicely laundered and hung back up in their rooms. All rooms are always immaculately cleaned. There are nice quiet areas for visitors to sit when visiting relatives. All in all it is an excellently run home.
All residents are looked after by all members of staff with dignity, respect, care and love. It is a calm welcoming homely atmosphere with residents needs as priority.
Far better in every way than I could have expected.
Excellent care for my Nan. Kind, patient and excellent understanding of a patient with dementia needs. I'm always kept well informed and my Nan is very happy and content. The team are great and nothing is too much trouble. I really couldn't have asked for more.
My Mum came to Plessington Court over 2 years ago from a distant part of the country, soon after losing her husband. When she arrived, she was exceedingly anxious, very thin and miserable. The kindness and sensitivity of every member of staff with whom she has had contact at Plessington Court have resulted in a transformation. She has become calm, she has put on weight and settled there in a way I could never have anticipated. She's learned to smile again and made it her home. We value immensely the friendliness and support given by the staff, each and every one and would not hesitate to recommend Plessington Court to any family and friends.
