View Full Details of WealstoneWealstone Care Home is a lovely place. My dad has really settled in very well and is very happy, all the staff are really helpful and very kind to my dad and I would recommend it to anyone. They take him out for the day which he loves he’s been to the zoo and today he’s gone out to the pub for his lunch and on Saturday he’s going to see children singing.
My mother was on end-of-life care. The staff took excellent care of her, liaising professionally with paramedics, district nurses and doctors. Mum was treated with dignity, respect and compassion. The staff went out of their way to support me through a difficult time. I was impressed with the dedication of every single staff member and would like them to know how much I appreciate their efforts to make Mum and me feel as comfortable as possible! I couldn't have wished for a higher standard of care.
This care home is excellent. The staff are informative and caring and I feel at ease with them all. They have been wonderful with my husband and he has settled here straight away.
My mum-in-law is well looked after and her needs are met by caring and committed staff. When we leave her, we feel that she is as safe as she can be and is better looked after now she is in a care home, surrounded by staff who understand her needs. Staff always update us of anything that has changed and fully involve us with her care routine. We feel staff know our mum very well and treat her with kindness giving the level of care that is needed. If any issues arise, it is discussed and sorted out quickly. The GP sorted out her medication and is aware if there are any changes promptly. The food is good and have seen, first-hand, tea parties and celebrations set up for all the residents, entertainment with sing-alongs etc. The management is very switched on and knows the residents well and it appears good handover at shift times works well. My worry was that my mum-in-law would find it hard to settle but after a couple of weeks, she was fine. Can recommend Wealstone without hesitation.
The care and support my mother receives is always kind, and caring, she is much healthier and happier at Wealstone than she was in the last couple of months at home. In October she turned 100 and everyone at the home went out of their way to make this a special occasion for Mum, her relatives and friends. With balloons, flowers, cards, a party and entertainment which was all open to everyone. We'd like to thank each and every member of staff.
Our mother went into Wealstone straight from a stay in hospital following a nasty fall. She suffers with dementia so initially she was extremely agitated and as a family we found it hard to deal with when visiting her. However, from the start the staff were caring and understanding, not only to our mother but to us as a family. Nothing was too much trouble. We also realised Mum was now in a safe environment which put our minds at rest. Unfortunately Mum was moved from Wealstone into a nursing home when she became very poorly. Our thanks go to all staff at Wealstone for helping us along a difficult journey.
I find everyone extremely helpful, courteous and caring.
All of the staff at Wealstone have treated my mother (97), at all times, with respect and dignity yet always with a cheerful and pleasant demeanour. The very nature of the job that carers do means that they are often undertaking very personal tasks but they are always very professional in the way that they go about their work. She has been in Wealstone since the summer of 2022 and in that time has made a number of good friendships with both the staff and other residents. The food has been excellent and my mother has received excellent assistance at meal times as and when needed. This includes having meals in her room if she doesn't feel like going to the dining room. My mother was poorly for a couple of weeks that required hospital admittance but even then the staff were checking up on her and arranged for her to come back to the home when she could be discharged. The main thing, having asked her the direct question, is that my mother is very happy there.
We have the staff at Wealstone to be very professional and caring at all times enabling Mum to live a safe and happy life during her time there. Always quick to respond to medical matters and obviously care a great deal for the residents.
Wealstone Manor is a lovely place for my grandad. I'm very happy with the staff and support. I would recommend Wealstone to others. Thank you everyone at Wealstone for looking after my grandad.
My mother-in-law was welcomed into Wealstone care home in January 2023 after a long battle with the local authorities to get her into residential care. She has mid-stage vascular dementia and was no longer able to live in her own home for safety reasons. We received a home visit from both the residential and dementia care managers prior to visiting Wealstone ourselves. On first impressions, the rooms are a little tired but are extremely clean and warm. Please don't let the decor put you off. The staff are wonderful and willing to help in any way to make the residents feel safe and cared for. The keywords here are being cared for! They willingly take time to chat, rectify or reassure family members on anything no matter how small. She has been in Wealstone for 6 weeks and refers to it as her home! She never mentions her old apartment or the friends left as she has new ones! Meals are excellent and she is now getting involved in activities and enjoying days out. Just wonderful!
My review is for respite only so I have limited knowledge of activities, facilities and food but I was able to enter and see rooms. My first impressions were good and made to feel welcome when dropping a person with dementia off, which continued throughout the stay. The staff worked as a team and I observed a genuine interest in the well-being and care of residents. A real home from home environment, residents were settled and happy.
Staff are friendly and welcoming. Good security at entrance witch clear covid safety instructions and free PPE. Excellent bubble arrangements. Home is all on a level so no stairs and a lovely paved garden. Staff and residents all seem cheerful and I have found the staff helpful and polite. Only one criticism, my friend tells me that two of the staff have told her to "try harder or she won't be able to move to live with her daughter", staff need better training. My friend's illness is caused by her medication, not a mental choice! All staff I have met have been very helpful and patient with residents.
My mum has been in the care home for over a year now. She is very happy and settled and it is all thanks to the wonderful staff. They are there for her when she needs them so I thank them for looking after her.
I was really worried about my nan going into a home, however, we haven't seen her this happy for so long, she has settled so well and that is down to the amazing care she has received. She is so well looked after and the carers are amazing and nothing is too much for them! So helpful.
Mum initially came into the home on respite care and she is now a permanent resident. Initially, I was really upset about mum going into a home. I honestly cannot recommend the home high enough, the staff are amazing, and genuinely care, mum is really happy. I am always kept fully up to date on everything. The home is always clean and has a happy feel about it. The home has all Covid measures in place to keep residents safe.
Mum has settled well into the care home and has been made to feel very welcome. Mum has quite diverse needs due to poor sight and dementia but the team and manager have gone out of their way to try and cater to mum's needs. The home is very clean and feels very homely with a lovely garden area.
My father resided at Wealstone residential home and was taken care of in a very loving, caring and professional manner at all times. I however live in Canada but whenever I called the home, there was always a polite and courteous voice answering the phone and their efforts to get a hold of my father so I could talk to him, they were amazing. I can't express enough how much of a relief it was being so far away from him but knowing that he was being well looked after and cared for 24/7. Unfortunately, he passed away on July 7th 2021, but I know that his last days were very comforting and his passing was a very peaceful one, mainly for the care and attention that he received. In closing I would like to say that my experience in dealing with the staff at Wealstone was a pure delight and that anyone thinking of placing a family member in the Wealstone Care Home would be making a very good choice indeed, they certainly put my mind at rest all of the time.
My mother has been in the care of Wealstone now since November 2020. Getting mum into the home was an extremely difficult and stressful process, and the staff couldn't have been more supportive during that time. I was concerned that she just wouldn't want to stay there at first, but within a short space of time, I saw a huge improvement in her behaviour and her health. The staff are extremely caring to their residents, that is clear. In the time I've been going to the home, I've not once seen anything other than amazing care, patience and affection for my mum. She has been through a lot these past few months, and they've really been there for her. I can't thank them enough for what they've done. In fact, my mum has really settled into the home now and today I took her out for lunch for the first time and she went back into the home with no hesitation! A huge thank you to all the staff, and especially the manager who has been a rock for the family through all this.
The staff at Wealstone are caring and professional. They have done their best to keep Wealstone Residential/Care Home safe through the Covid crisis to date. The new manager has made some improvements and there are more activities taking place. The building itself needs updating - especially the doors and windows which are in a state of disrepair. The changes inside are a big improvement.
