View Full Details of BellinghamThe manager and her amazing team have looked after my mum since Covid started - not easy at first, for sure, but the team's dedication has made Mum happy and comfortable. The staff are wonderful, I feel so confident that Mum is well looked after. The Bellingham is not a corporate, it is full of personality, engaging staff and I can highly recommend.
The Bellingham Care Home is a real hidden gem, it really is like home from home. My mother-in-law needed some extra help and care almost a year ago now and the team and fellow residents at the Bellingham have all been amazing. As a family, we really appreciate all of the love, care and support provided to my mum-in-law, she is doing so well, I think the five-star meals and all of the activities that go on within the home really help to create the fantastic atmosphere that we feel every time we visit, nothing is ever too much trouble for the team.
Mum has been in Bellingham for about five months now. Very quickly I could see that she was contented there and already, on my first visit, I was impressed by the kind, caring nature of the staff, both to residents and visitors. Five months on and I see Mum happier and physically stronger. The staff are always friendly, caring for residents and visitors. I'm convinced that Bellingham was an excellent choice for Mum - even the food is good, prepared with love and care. Thank you so much.
From first walking into the garden, the Bellingham felt like a cared-for place. The house itself is like home from home with warm carpets, patterned wallpaper and many personal touches. But the main thing is the caring and positive atmosphere which pervades everything. In particular, the kind and friendly staff who treat each resident with dignity and as an individual. Also, the freshly prepared meals and snacks and inclusive, fun activities. Mum was apprehensive about going into a home but she quickly settled in and made friends. Her spirits and general health have improved as have her mobility, balance and appetite. Visitors are also welcome.
Mum passed away at the Bellingham in April after a stay of more than two years. The whole time she was there, she was looked after by what can only be described as her new family, compassionate, loving and with a great sense of humour. The home is very well run, clean, comfortable, excellent, home-cooked food with plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. Visiting was a pleasure, always greeted with a big smile by the staff. Mum was fortunate to be able to stay at the Bellingham to receive end-of-life care and the owners and staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. They thoroughly deserve the highest recommendation.
My mum has been at the Bellingham for over a month now and the positive difference is a joy to see. From being alone and scared at home, I now see evidence of the character my mum used to be again. For my own part, the stress has been taken away, as I see how well she is cared for, and it seems any concerns I have are often addressed before I have them. The staff are exemplary in every way, and the care and empathy they show are heartwarming. Nothing is too much trouble and they are all so willing to help and support. The entertainment and the daily minutiae of life in the home provide such stimulation to my mum, which is so valuable and means when I visit I have to do nothing more than enjoy the company of my mum. This is what a care home should be like, a true home from home with all the help and support in all aspects of life. Thank you to the manager and team.
After visiting numerous care homes in the search for a place for Mum we knew straightaway when we spoke to the manager of the Bellingham that this was where we wanted Mum to live. We have no complaints whatsoever about this care home. Extremely well run, clean, tidy, all home-cooked food and most of all we love the 'family' vibe that the staff have created for the residents. All the staff are extremely knowledgeable and can always answer any questions you may have and they really seem to enjoy working there. We have no hesitation in recommending the Bellingham.
My mum is living with mild to moderate Dementia. I booked her in for a week's respite whilst I was away. From the moment we set foot inside until taking her home the service was faultless. We were greeted by pleasant, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for her. She was treated with dignity and respect at all times. Cups of tea/coffee were offered regularly. There was a choice of hot meals. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean. As Mum only stayed for a few days I don't have any experience of the in-house activities. Stringent Covid precautions were in place. Visitors were welcome at any time. Notice of an intended visit was appreciated wherever possible (due to Covid). Visitors were requested to show a negative Covid test, either done that day or upon arrival at the home.
In 2019, following an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and deteriorating health, it was not safe for my mum to continue living on her own, so a move into residential care was inevitable. At the Bellingham, I was immediately comforted by its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff and the fact that the existing residents looked happy and well cared for. Mum’s transition into her new permanent home was eased by the gentle reassurance and encouragement of the staff. To our immense relief, her physical condition visibly improved over the next few weeks, and her smile and cheeky demeanour returned. She soon became a much-loved member of the Bellingham family. Over the next two years, until she sadly passed away in October 2021, I never had to worry about her care or safety; her happiness and contentment were always evident to see. I’ll be eternally grateful to The manager and all of her team for the wonderful care and dedication they gave to my mum during the final years of her life.
Having spent three weeks at Bellingham for respite, I would recommend it to anybody struggling, as I was. All staff were very helpful and supportive, nothing was too much trouble. It really was the best thing that could have happened to me; I feel fitter and able to manage at home - if not, back to Bellingham.
We were very worried when, during lockdown, we realized our mother needed more care than we could provide. Relinquishing care of your loved one is not easy. The management at the Bellingham understood our concerns and spent time setting our minds at ease. The home is just that; a home from home environment with well kept accessible gardens for the residents to enjoy and friendly caring staff. Although she initially came for a few weeks of respite care she has been resident now for four months, she is safe and well cared for and building relationships with her carers who treat her with empathy, understanding and a healthy dose of fun and giggles!
Immediately upon entering The Bellingham, it felt like a home in the real sense: warm and welcoming, small and personal: It might not have every mod-con, but the room we found for Mum was lovely, and most importantly, the staff were friendly, caring and competent. Whenever we could visit, all the residents seemed happy and at ease. Mum spent the last 14-months of her life here, and we always felt that she was being looked after. Even during Covid, the staff did everything they could to keep the residents entertained and made it possible that we could still see Mum via Video and finally visit again. At such a difficult time following the unexpected death of Dad we are so happy we found The Bellingham.
I regularly visit a client in Bellingham who has been a resident for approximately two years. The manager, assistant manager and their staff are professional and friendly. They know the residents well and understand their needs. The residents are well stimulated and I am told that the food is great! I have seen occasions where the team have gone above and beyond to assist and support their residents. The home provides a really caring environment.
From the first visit we knew this was somewhere my aunt would be as happy and settled as possible. After moving in my aunt became part of the Bellingham family - the staff spent time getting to know her, respectfully gaining an understanding of the person she used to be as well as how she is in the here and now. With a diagnosis of dementia and advancing age, her needs fluctuate and change but the staff are always patient and compassionate, reassuring her as much as they can and discussing any significant problems with the family as needed. Activities for residents have been restricted due to the pandemic but emotional wellbeing is still clearly a priority and staff work hard to accommodate activities that my aunt can still enjoy. Their response to the pandemic has been exemplary and to be able to maintain such a high standard of care during this time is truly amazing.
Visited The Bellingham after talking to others in the area. Was very happy with the visit and moved mum-in-law into the home in March. Not being able to visit as much as we would like because of Covid-19 restrictions - but that is reassuring that they are treating Covid-19 precautions seriously. The staff seem to be very friendly and eager to help. Have observed the way they treat the residents with patience and kindness. The home is always clean and tidy. Would recommend based on our experience.
My father lived at The Bellingham for the last eighteen months of his life. Living semi-independently in a sheltered home with dementia, he had a fall and had a bad break to his arm. The manager met me at the hospital and overcame difficulties other homes had flagged. He moved into Bellingham. When things cropped up, which they are bound to with someone with dementia, the manager and her staff dealt with it and kept me informed. I visited regularly and got to know the staff and residents. The manager recognised when Dad was nearing end of life and his end was gentle and dignified. I continued to visit residents and staff and on retiring and became an official volunteer. I've completed courses and have been known to prepare Sunday tea. I enjoy doing activities with residents, organising Macmillan coffee mornings, taking residents for walks and driving them to appointments. It filled the gap for me. The Bellingham is very much a 'home from home'. It suited my Dad and it has given me a great deal too.
I cannot thank the Bellingham enough for the care and compassion they gave my aunt during her time at the Home. This is a very special place with lovely staff who are extremely dedicated and I would not hesitate to recommend the Bellingham to anyone looking for a care home.
