View Full Details of Bushell HouseMy mother was in Bushell House for the last 5 years of her life, the love and care they gave her during that time was outstanding. All the staff are so friendly and look after residents as if they were their own, it was also a pleasure for our family to get to know the staff too. I could not recommend Bushell House highly enough if you want excellent care in beautiful surroundings.
My 98 year-old mother has been a resident in Bushell House for the past six years. The care she has received in that time has been outstanding in so many ways. All of the staff have been wonderful and the leadership of the home by the managers has been outstanding too. So many things about Bushell House are excellent - the rooms, the facilities, the food, the quality of care, the activities, the location, the safety and security and more. What is especially notable is the way the residents are encouraged to be individuals, encouraged to involve themselves in activities and spend productive time together. What most pleases me and my family is that my mother has been continually encouraged to take decisions and live her own life. At 98, she remains active and fully involved in as much as she wishes to be.
Bushell House is a lovely welcoming home, in a nice rural location. The care is second to none. All the staff are always kind, friendly and approachable. The food is always good and well presented. My mother couldn't be in a better place.
All staff, services and care are excellent at Bushell House. People are treated with great dignity, have all the choices they want and have a truly home-from-home experience. In my view (I am a Registered Nurse) there is nowhere to match Bushell House.
Rooms Some rooms are very spacious compared to other homes. Largest at a small premium, excellent value for money, could be increased if revenue required. While some rooms are tired, I noticed recent paintwork and improvements. Rooms include bathrooms, clean and furniture comfortable. Heating good. Grounds very well kept; outside seats and summer house. Drinks/ice lollies provided outside. Good communal spaces for games films, music, services and exercises. Care All staff courteous and friendly. I am impressed that they ensure medication is taken, drinks are offered on a regular basis and residents can choose to eat in their rooms or go down to meals with an escort provided if necessary. A chart on the wall shows when staff have checked on residents overnight. Communication is easy by phone or email. Food Always a choice with ample portions. Extra effort is made on special occasions. Security Entry by buzzer through to the main office. In low risk area, but in theory possible for slip-streaming or entering when an exiting visitor holds the door.
I am glad to be here. I feel safe and very well looked after. The staff are very understanding and patient. The manager comes to see me and takes the time to chat. She was very helpful and professional with my transfer here, as was her deputy. Nothing was too much trouble. The senior staff are always keen to listen, liaise with medical agencies, such as the district nurse, and make such a difference. The seniors give me confidence and all the staff show great kindness and understanding.
My mother was a resident for nearly four years. She always said it was the next best thing to being in her own home, which was sadly not possible. Bushell House is a lovely retirement home, it ticks all the boxes. We were lucky to have found it and I will be forever grateful to all the staff.
My mother was resident in Bushell House for the last twelve years of her life and throughout that time received wonderful care and kindness from all the staff, for which I shall always be grateful. She enjoyed her time there. Bushell House is in a beautiful village location and its garden is a particular joy in the summer. The home provides excellent facilities and activities for the residents and has a real community spirit.
My mum lived at Bushell House for the final three years of her life. It has a special family atmosphere here created not only by the beautiful Georgian building, but also the kind and caring staff, an excellent specialist nurse practitioner also frequently visits. During the pandemic through conscientious planning by management and dedicated staff, the health and welfare of the residents including communications with their families was prioritised. Mum was able to live as independently as possible whilst being looked after with compassion, respect and dignity. The carers had a positive attitude and a lovely relationship with the residents. In my communications with the manager, nothing was too much bother and any concerns were treated in a positive and reassuring manner.
The staff are extremely helpful, kind and very courteous and very attentive to Mum's needs at all times. The house is extremely clean and warm. Mum did all the activities and joined in at all times. She enjoyed her stay and is excited about going back despite reservations prior to her first stay. Well done everyone at Bushell House.
My dad lived at Bushell House from August 2021 and loved it. The care he received and the facilities were always first rate but the care and support for both him and me in the last few weeks of his life were exemplary. I truly could not wish for a better place for my dad to be and I have already told them that I will be moving in when I get to the age where I need extra care and support.
My father had the joy and privilege of residing at Bushell House for the last 3 years of his life. Throughout that period he was surrounded by the loving and compassionate care of the staff as his health gradually declined. No request was too much trouble. He was treated as a member of an extended family. The fact that the home was able to survive the ravages of the Covid pandemic was directly attributable to the careful planning of the manager and the dedication of her staff. The health and welfare of the residents were prioritised unfailingly throughout this difficult period. I have had cause to visit many care and residential homes in the North West for professional reasons. Bushell House is, in my opinion, unequalled in providing an ambience of dignified tranquillity, comparable to that of a country house hotel. I would have no hesitation in recommending this outstanding retirement home.
My mother was fortunate to stay at Bushell House during the last year of her life from September 2019 until her death in 2020. The historic character of the 18th-century building, and its idyllic setting adjacent to the ancient church, local pub, and village school in Goosnargh, are matched inside by comfortable and homely rooms in pleasing decor. There are also spacious lounge, resident's, and dining rooms, and other facilities, that give a country hotel air to the home. The premises are more than matched, however, by the experienced and dedicated staff, many of whom have worked there for many years. This longevity says something about the positive, well-managed working environment, which enables the staff to provide excellent care. Towards the end, my mother required close attention, which was given with patience and kindness, and the management could not have been more accommodating to my requirements.
My father was a resident at the home from the beginning of November 2019 until the middle of January 2020. During his stay, the staff at the home looked after him very well, his health and mobility improved until he suffered a set back in early January. During the last couple of weeks of his stay when he became unwell, the management and carers showed great compassion and understanding with the family. Thank you for looking after Dad during this difficult time.
Bushell House provides quality care for residents. Residents have their own rooms; these are often large with high ceilings and very spacious. It really is a 'home from home' especially when residents bring a few choice items of furniture with them. There are a large garden and summerhouse to sit in during the summer months - ideal to be sitting outside with a cup of tea, a book from the library and one of the chef's cakes to sample. There are activities put on and plenty of walking opportunities in the grounds. All of the staff are most friendly and have pride in their work. Bushell house has an industrious house manager and deputy manager supported by an excellent administrative team. Those on the Board of Trustees take an active interest in the views of residents and often spare the time to have a chat. I was looking for a residential home of distinction to care for my mother over the last two years and Bushell House more than met the criteria.
My mother went to stay at Bushell House following my father's hospitalisation he unfortunately died and we were happy to let mum remain there. I cannot recommend Bushell House enough the staff and the care she received was fantastic she was treated with kindness and respect. Unfortunately mum died eight weeks after my father. But the care and compassion showed to her and to us her family was excellent. I cannot thank them enough.
My father came to Bushell House in March 2018 and died March 2019. We find it very difficult indeed to fault the home in any way. They provided outstanding care and my father really felt that he was at home. Communication with us was excellent. I count myself very fortunate that my father was able to enjoy such a pleasant last year of his life.
My mother was cared for during a period when her life was deteriorating up to death on 15th December. The staff were very attentive and caring ensuring mother was comfortable and clean. Her dignity was maintained throughout this difficult period. They also looked after family members during visits offering food and drink when required.
Mum couldn't have had better care in the last few months of her life. I can't praise the staff enough. Always patient and helpful and they provided outstanding care for mum. She was reluctant to leave her own home but as she was terminally ill there was no alternative. She couldn't have gone anywhere better and her last few weeks were really blessed at the Bushell House. Thank you so much for your care for her and also to friends and family when we visited. I don't know if there is a Christian ethos to the home but you provided a great example of Christian care. Thank you!
My mother came to Bushell House after 2 previous homes. This is by far the best in every way. She has been here over 12 months and has been very happy and well cared for.
