View Full Details of Cherry Tree LodgeMum has lived at Cherry Tree Lodge for 4 years with very advanced dementia. At every stage in her journey the team here have worked exceptionally hard to meet her changing needs. She is cared for with genuine affection. The day room provides a cheerful environment. The rooms are clean. The menu varied and fresh. There is a good range of activities which the coordinator delivers with gusto! When Mum has been ill, the staff have recognised the need for medical attention and monitored her through to recovery. We are very grateful to the team at Cherry Tree for all that they do.
My mother moved into Cherry Tree Lodge due to the closure of the care home she had spent 2 years in. The manager and assistant manager visited my mum in the previous care home before her move to get to know her and answer any questions we had. This standard of attention to detail has continued throughout the last year she has been at Cherry Tree Lodge. All the staff have got to know my mum well, her moods, how to cajole her into eating, drinking and taking medication and generally keeping her happy. The home is very clean, smells lovely, cosy and warm, provides activities, serves tasty food, has great links with a local GP Surgery and paperwork is extremely well organised. I travel extensively but always know Cherry Tree Lodge has my mum's best interests at heart. It really is home from home.
Since moving into Cherry Tree Lodge earlier this year from another care home, the family have seen a tremendous improvement. He has been encouraged and assisted to walk as much as possible, going from just able to self-stand to walking about the home with his Zimmer frame. He came in a morose depressed state and now through positive interaction with staff and residents, he is back to his old self of being a chatty and interesting man. From walking through the front door, you are in a clean, warm and welcoming home. They are kept interested and amused with activities by the staff, the management are excellent, we could not wish for a better home for him to be in.
I'm not impressed, firstly normal routine was ignored and a letter explaining usual habits read out in front of me and dismissed. Medicines replaced within 24hrs despite being supplied. No activity during the day, resulting in a struggle to re-establish normal routine. Lastly after expressed instruction to leave all laundry to bring home, he was sent back with clothes that did not belong to him and brand new trousers missing. Nurses were very pleasant but did not listen. Respite and nursing mixed. No outside space for the good weather. He was happy with the food and liked the carers.
