View Full Details of The Croft Rest HomeThe manager of the home really went above and beyond for my brother who was a very challenging resident. Her patience and compassion knows no bounds. I feel sure that under her leadership each and every resident is well cared for and nurtured. A big big thank you to all who cared for my brother until his passing. I would have no hesitation in recommending this excellent Home. Seasons Greetings to all the lovely Staff and Residents.
Mum lived very happily at The Croft for five years. I can't thank the excellent staff enough for the care and kindness they showed to her as her health and mobility declined, most especially during her final weeks of life. By that stage Mum needed close personal attention, and this was provided cheerfully at all times by staff who were professional yet compassionate. We were always kept fully informed about Mum's condition, and confident that everything was being done to make her last few days as comfortable and dignified as possible. The support we received as a family at this difficult time was exceptional. Thank you to the manager and the whole team - you are all amazing. I only wish I could give you more than 5 stars!
My dad went to live in The Croft last March 2023 and lived there until he passed away on the 30th December 2023. The care he received there was compassionate, kind and extremely professional, they did everything to make my dad comfortable and his end-of-life care was amazing both to my dad and also to us as a family. Nothing was too much trouble for the manager and their staff team they were amazing making his last few hours of life comfortable and also supporting myself and my sister with respect and kindness.
My mum was in The Croft Rest Home from May 2023 until January 2024. I couldn’t praise them enough for how helpful and supportive they all were. Everything we asked for they did to help Mum, making sure she was treated with care and dignity right up to the day she passed away. We could leave her knowing she was being well looked after which was a great comfort.
Mum has only recently gone to stay at The Croft Rest Home, and we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the manager and her team. They have all helped her to settle in really quickly, showing compassion, kindness, professionalism, humour and positivity. Even though it is really early days, as a family we feel confident The Croft is a safe and caring place for Mum to be. The manager and the team are always welcoming and available to discuss mum's needs and care. From the first day they have worked on ways to individualise her care to meet her specific needs. Thank you to the whole team.
Mum moved to the Croft 6 years ago. I have seen the dedication of the staff in responding to her changing needs over time as her Parkinson's took hold; initially, she was mobile but confused, then she became unsteady on her feet but prone to wander, and eventually she was completely bed-bound and unable to communicate. I live 200 miles away and knowing she was safe and cared for was paramount. This was especially poignant during lockdown. The staff were always caring and wonderful. They passed her the phone when I called, and later, when her condition deteriorated, the staff would put my calls on speaker next to her bed, so I could talk and hear her responses. Especially towards the end, it was most apparent that the staff were going the extra mile to make her final days comfortable. They were always upbeat, and always welcoming, as if they were caring for a member of their own family. Thank you for your exceptional service in caring for my Mum, and in supporting me.
We organised a room for my dad at the Croft when he was diagnosed with cancer and could no longer live in his own home. From this point, the manager and all the staff were brilliant. They helped us organise his move from hospital to the home and then the care he received from the moment he arrived, was exemplary. He was looked after with gentleness, care and dignity and they made his final months as happy and comfortable as possible. I could not have asked for more and the support they offered him and us all as a family, is something I will always be grateful for. I would not hesitate to recommend The Croft and I think all the staff are incredibly kind, wonderful people.
My dear Mum spent the last eight months of her 98 years at The Croft in Whalley. I live overseas and received such relief from continual worry about her safety when Mum became a resident on her 98th birthday, last Christmas Eve. With the devoted care of wonderful staff, Mum rebounded and enjoyed seven months of good food, friends and companionship in the care of supportive staff who made every effort to get to know Mum. In her final weeks, Mum's care was loving, watchful and compassionate. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for your consistently high level of professionalism and close attention to the needs of your residents.
My Mum entered the Croft about a year ago after being diagnosed with mixed dementia. From the outset, the staff have been wonderful in the way that they treated my Mum and in the respectful way, they treated her family. Visiting was difficult due to covid lockdowns, but I was positively encouraged to phone as often as I wished. The staff were so helpful in discussing Mum's condition and it was obvious that they cared for the service users in a warm and respectful way. Despite the obvious challenges of looking after the elderly, many with special needs, the staff always seemed happy. The home manager was also very hands-on and accessible, very happy to discuss care issues on a one to one basis. She kept me informed of all major developments with my mother's care, especially when she contracted covid 19 last November. I have no hesitation in recommending the Croft to anyone looking for a warm and caring environment for a loved one.
My Mum became a resident at The Croft in January 2020. I cannot compliment The Croft and its wonderful staff enough; the care my Mum received during her time was wonderful. The comfort, staff and atmosphere within the premises are just phenomenal. During Covid, every effort was made to make visits to see my Mum as safe as possible and everyone went above and beyond to meet my Mum's needs during her final months. All medical care needs were taken care of, which took a lot of stress off the immediate family. I will always be grateful to everyone at The Croft, to the staff that cared for my Mum and for making my family always feel welcomed. A wonderful team - simply put, they deserve medals.
All the staff at The Croft where very comforting towards my mum and ourselves at the end of her final hours, we could not ask for any more. There are no proper words to say, all through Mum's time at The Croft they could not do enough for us as a family. They looked after her and made her last 2 years as comfortable as they could. We will not hesitate to recommend The Croft to everybody. The manager is an extremely good and caring person and this rubs off throughout the staff and as a family, we cant thank them enough.
The Croft has provided excellent care for my grandma in what must be very difficult times during the COVID-19 pandemic. The staff have been incredibly dedicated to ensuring the safety of their residents, even staying at the residence away from their own families to prevent transmission. The care home manager has gone above and beyond to enable us to maintain contact with my grandma, including enabling us to video call her, which has meant so much when unable to see her face to face. Prior to COVID-19 whenever I have visited my grandmother, the staff have always been very helpful and seem to genuinely care about my grandma and her wellbeing. Thank you so much to all the hard-working staff.
My mum went into the home after being in the hospital for six weeks as she was not able to look after herself safely at home any more; she never wanted to end up in a care home. With the virus covid, not many homes were taking people in, but when speaking to the manager, she said she would accept my mum. She went in early May, was very upset and with family not being able to go in we worried about her. But, the Manager and her staff were brilliant with her, especially when she was upset when we rang; they were brilliant with us and put our minds at ease. It's been 15-weeks since we saw her last, and we were able to see her for the 1st time yesterday, and it was fantastic to see her. She now loves it at The Croft and says she has been well looked after, and the food is lovely. All the staff are lovely, and they treated her as one of their own family. I cannot thank them enough for how they have looked after my mum.
My mother has been a resident at The Croft for the last 3 years, in that time my mother has received exceptional care, and this was shown even more prominent during lockdown. The manager and her team showing exceptional commitment and self-sacrifice to all residents. During lockdown my mother was quite poorly, I can say that on a daily basis I was kept informed on her condition. Putting any member of family in a care home can be extremely stressful, but the last three years have been nothing but joy for my mother. Thank you Croft Rest Home, and a special thanks to all the staff there for working tirelessly in these extraordinary times.
My mum has been living at The Croft for approx 18mths. During this time I have been impressed and grateful for the outstanding care my mum has been given. Having to arrange residential care for a parent is by no means an easy task, but now knowing the right decision was made for mum, seeing her safe and so well cared for, certainly puts my mind at rest. The amount of staff dedication shown during this lockdown period has been incredible, they have gone above and beyond the call of duty, so a massive thank you to the manager, and all the lovely smiley staff.
The Manager went early into lockdown; and exercised tight control throughout. She and the staff have made huge personal sacrifices by living in at The Croft for days at a time to reduce the risk of infection to the residents. For this, my family and I are immensely grateful. My mother aged 94 has survived the COVID 19 crisis, despite shocking death rates in other Care Homes. During this last 10/11 weeks, my mother needed adjustment to her medication, and this was managed well despite the access restrictions for medical staff. Finally, the manager invested personal time with WhatsApp sessions with my mother and family members, helping her to understand what we were saying. Thank you to her and her staff.
After a prolonged period of heroic but frequently challenging independent living, with my mother dealing with my father's deteriorating dementia, I visited The Croft with my mother in early 2019 and was immediately impressed with the homely and caring atmosphere. The manager and her team have lived up to and even surpassed that initial impression as both my parents have been welcomed and have settled in wonderfully - beyond my expectations. I also have been made to feel welcome. My mother had a distinguished career as a nurse and she reserves her praise for the very best of situations - she is mentally very fit and astute and there can be no better recommendation than hers. Cleanliness, quality of food, care and attention from the team, visiting services - she speaks highly of it all and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending The Croft.
My father, who has vascular dementia, was admitted in August 2019, followed by my mother (macular degeneration) in December. Both have thrived while living in The Croft thanks to the wonderful, friendly care and attention from all the staff. I live in Canada and find the management extremely accommodating both when I am calling from Canada or when, on my UK trips, I visit the home every day. The building is always spotless and the residents well dressed, groomed and obviously well cared for. My mother praises the food and has put on weight since she moved in. All in all an exemplar of everything a care home should be.
My mum was admitted to The Croft as a temporary resident as the carers couldn't manage her at home. She is now there permanently and is happy and safe due to the care and attention given to her by the staff. Even during lockdown the manager and staff keep me informed about her welfare. They are very dedicated to the residents and I can't thank them enough.
My husband is in the Croft Rest Home, and I would certainly recommend them for their kindness, understanding and friendly atmosphere. I would also like to say how pleased I am with the way the management and staff have successfully dealt with the global Coronavirus Pandemic, to ensure the safety of all the service users.
