View Full Details of Aughton ParkMy mother has been at Aughton Park for 9 years. I cannot praise the staff enough, in particular the 2 senior members of staff and administration. The manager deserves praise. They have been at the home throughout my mother's stay, keeping her safe during the pandemic and often going far beyond what is required. The chaplain and his wife also do great work with the residents. I only hope the newly appointed business manager does not try to make too many changes and can maintain the wonderful staff that make this such a good home!
The carers are very kind and understanding of my husband's needs. They have a friendly approach to him and he appears to enjoy this. He is kept clean and also his room which is en suite. There are plenty of activities if he wishes to join these. The gardens are easily accessible so when the weather is nice we can walk around. He appears happy here which is a relief to me.
I would recommend this care home for anyone who needs dementia care. Staff are lovely, very caring and responsive to any concerns raised. The accommodation is purpose-built, on occasion it looks a bit tired, but my priority is the care given which is good.
Generally, I feel that Aughton Park Care Home has been a good choice for Mum (resident since July 2021). I think it is very difficult to provide individual care to 50 residents. It did feel more personal when the Covid restrictions were in place as occupancy was 50 to 60%. The senior carers are fantastic. Communication on illnesses, incidents etc. are clear and timely. Access to public healthcare is far superior compared to someone living alone. The activity and chaplaincy team are excellent. Any concerns are attended to. The food offering does need improvement - to make it better suited to the frail and elderly. There does seem to be a lot of food wasted. As for cleanliness and laundry, I am very satisfied. The individual rooms are good (all with ensuite) and the communal lounges and dining rooms are well-appointed. Anyone looking for a care home in the area should ask for a viewing.
Caring, skilled experienced and approachable in every way. Since admission, my 92-year-old mother has been looked after in a way simply impossible at home. I am so very glad we found them. The premises are welcoming and the atmosphere is positive.
My mother seems to be very settled and happy at Aughton Park. She enjoys the company of other residents but is particularly appreciative of the regular activities which now seem much more settled and regular than they were perhaps 12 months ago. I think her contentment is quite dependent on the activities, whether that is a regular quiz or crossword or 'keep fit exercises', she seems quite happy to join in most things and it makes such a difference to her day. She has also mentioned that she enjoys the food and even insisted on staying for Christmas dinner this year, which was a first! Many thanks to the wonderful staff for their continued care and kindness.
I have been impressed by the kindness and the quality of care Mum receives on a daily basis from the staff. She talks highly of them and I am always greeted with warmth by staff in all roles when I visit. I am impressed by the range of activities on offer and that residents are facilitated and enabled to arrange their own activities if they want, like watching sports together in the little lounge, or playing cards or dominoes together. There are lots of thoughtful touches which make a difference, e.g. Mum occasionally leaves her bag somewhere in the home and it’s always returned to her, without her needing to ask. The one thing that doesn’t work so well is for visitors getting into the building and leaving as we rely on staff who are doing other things, being available to open the door. Staff never complain about ‘ door duty’ but sometimes there can be a bit of a wait. I wondered how other homes manage this and if there is a way to manage it safely and more effectively.
A friendly, welcoming environment, well decorated (lovely over Christmas) and easy to make contact with when necessary. Care staff are generally attentive and know the residents well. One or two are especially good and the staff member (maintenance) is lovely too. My mum's Christmas tree battery failed recently and the activities co-ordinator found some spare lights so the tree remained lit which was important for my mum, little touches like this make all the difference. I'm not local so it's nice and reassuring to know that people go the extra mile when I'm not there.
We came to visit our aunt and were best impressed by the overall care and service offered at the home. The facilities are beautifully maintained and our aunt is very happy here. We met two members of staff on our first day of arrival. They served us food and drinks throughout the day.
Well laid out facility with ample sized lounge, rooms, restaurant and garden along with a friendly and caring atmosphere provided by a dedicated team of staff. Our mum has been a resident since November of 2019 and from regular visits we know that she is safe and cared for.
My Gran has been at Aughton Park Care Home for several years now. I’ve found the staff to be kind and helpful, often offering me a hot drink or food if offering one to Gran. They appear caring and considerate and genuinely want to care for and look after the residents. I’ve experience of the dementia ward as she was moved when she developed vascular dementia and it’s secure and holds the same values and kindness.
After making a difficult decision to find a care home for my sister, she has settled well. The carers, domestic staff and management are all extremely helpful and the surroundings are homely which helps residents to settle. The chaplain is extremely supportive of the residents and is available if the family want to have a chat.
As always my friend's care has been exceptional, the staff are kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. I am so glad that my friend is in Aughton Park she could not be in a better place.
In most respects, Aughton Park is a very good care home. It has a very pleasant ambience and the facilities are excellent compared to some others I have seen. The staff are generally very friendly but there are occasions when my mother feels she is treated without due dignity in interactions with staff, for example after calling for assistance during the night; sometimes a member of staff enters her room, asks a question and then turns their back and walks out without engaging with her and listening to what she has to say. There is a feeling that, sometimes, staff seem to be just 'going through the motions'. The quality of personal interaction could therefore be improved.
Aughton Park is an exceptional care home, they go above and beyond to meet my mum's needs, having worked in healthcare myself for over sixteen years I speak from experience as well when I say this is a truly outstanding home. The staff are wonderful, the atmosphere is always calm and peaceful and my mum feels completely safe and I rest completely easy knowing she is in their care. Cannot recommend highly enough.
My sister became a resident at Aughton Park in November 2022. Since then, I have been very impressed with the way things are run there. The care and support are fantastic, and the staff are very caring. It is a very clean care home and is run professionally. The food looks very appetising with a good selection of items. Christmas time there was organised brilliantly there, making it so nice for everyone.
My mother has been at Aughton Park about 18 months. She entered in a depressed state with significant mental health issues (paranoia). With care and love from the team my mum's mental health has improved dramatically. She is settled, happy and is treated with the greatest respect by the staff. The December program of events have been great with mum joining in with the dancing (with her walking frame given she is 96).
My mum has been in the dementia unit since Easter this year. The care she has received has been excellent, and nothing has been too much from the carers through to management. The home has extremely high standards both in care and hygiene. Telephone calls are relayed in a highly professional manner.
There seems to have been staff shortages recently. This has resulted in occasional failures to deliver tea breaks, seek residents' wishes re meal choices, and failure to deliver clean laundry (but only occasionally in this case). The carers on duty have continued to perform well.
The standard of accommodation is good and the en-suite facilities excellent. The care workers I have witnessed interacting with my relative are good and respectful. The home is clean and no unpleasant smells. The food my relative tells me is good and he is generally satisfied. The kitchen staff I have met on visiting are pleasant. There are activities that take place. Concerning value for money, the fees are above some other local homes and this is reflected in the better accommodation. If a resident is self-funding the annual fees are significant. I have had no concerns re security. Communication from the home is satisfactory (predominantly via the admin manager). There are meetings for relatives 2-3 times a year - most at 6.30 at night - which creates issues for me as I do an 80-round-mile trip to visit.
