View Full Details of The Knights Retirement HomeMy mum has been at the knights for nearly 3 months and for most of this time she has been poorly with infections. This has made her care needs greater and her behaviour has been more challenging. The care staff are caring, respectful and kind. The manager is always there to support and keep on top of things. The senior carer has been great, voicing concerns and keeping me updated. The home is clean and food is good. The activities are great for the residents also. I made the right decision moving her from another home and am grateful for the care my mum is being given.
I don't normally leave reviews but I am so pleased with the ongoing care my mum is receiving here. All of the staff from the manager downwards are engaging and helpful and genuinely seem interested in the people around them. I am extremely happy to leave my mother in their care and feel assured she is being looked after and as such would highly recommend The Knights.
My mother needed respite care with a view to permanent residency into a care home. We approached the managers at The Knights care home and we were guided through all our options with care and compassion. Both managers went above and beyond to make sure my mum had everything she needed to make her experience the best it could be with very short notice. Since returning home after her quick respite break my mum decided she needed permanent care. I contacted them again and they guided me through what was required and secured a room that has surpassed my mums expectations. I can't thank them enough for their guidance and the care and understanding of my mums needs. I would recommend The Knights for anybody looking for a safe environment for their relative's
My hubby has been in The Knights Care home for two and a half months. The staff are amazing especially the manager. She is always at the end of the phone if you need to speak to her and will do her best to sort out any problems. My husband is happy and well looked after and have no problem recommending this home.
My mum is a resident at The Knights Retirement Home and has been for around 14 months. The home is absolutely brilliant and the staff can’t do enough for Mum. She has a good-sized room with a lot of the furniture from her old house to make her feel at home. There is always a choice of menu or, if Mum prefers, they will make her something that she has picked up from the shops when we take her out. Mum prefers to stay in her room a lot of the time as she has problems with her mobility but there are always activities going on that Mum can take part in if she chooses. The staff member who provides the activities is always happy to go up to Mum's room to include her in the baking and other activities if she wants to join in. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and Mum has quite taken a shine to one or two of them. All in all, it was the best thing for Mum to move her into the care system and we couldn’t have chosen a nicer place.
Mum has been resident at The Knights for around three years now after the dreaded day arrived when we finally realised that home care was no longer an option due to her dementia. There have been many ups and downs during the period since (the downs being mainly due to incorrect medication prescribed by doctors), but no matter what mood Mum was in, the love and care shown to her by all the staff was beyond dedication. Although Mum's age and condition mean she is viewed as just a statistic by most doctors the management team at The Knights were always in 'my corner' when I was fighting 'the NHS system' for the best care and treatment for Mum...the manager and her staff will never know how grateful I am for this support, but, to put it bluntly, I don't think Mum would still be with us today without their love and support and I can't say thank you enough. The activities at The Knights are second to none and most days are like a holiday camp rather than a care home.
My father, who needs lots of care, with deaf/blind medical needs, and who has dementia, is having excellent care and support. I and my family feel he is safe, cared for and well looked after and all his needs are taken care of by the brilliant staff. My father is lucky enough to have been allowed to take his dog with him who has now also become part of The Knights family. The kindness of the staff who organise lots of unique activities for their guests is amazing. Can't praise them enough!
My aunt has been a resident at The Knights Care Home for over two years. The staff make every effort to cater for her needs and she always speaks highly of them and how well they look after her. A typical description is kind, caring and patient at all hours of the day. My husband and I live a long distance away so rely on making regular phone calls which are always dealt with efficiently and we are able to speak to my aunt directly. In addition, we are kept well informed of all developments with regard to my aunt's welfare with regular calls from the manager. We visit every couple of months and are always given a warm welcome and assistance with taking my aunt out. I would highly recommend The Knights to others as a caring and efficiently run establishment.
Mum has been a resident at The Knights Retirement Home since June 2021. Mum has advanced dementia and challenging behaviours at times. Initially, Mum was quite unsettled and not compliant with personal care, being verbally and physically aggressive to staff on occasions. The manager kept us informed and through the staff's care and perseverance, Mum's behaviours have now calmed down to a manageable level allowing the care staff to meet Mum's needs. Any medical needs are acted on in a timely manner bringing in the GP if required. The Knights have an activity coordinator who is excellent and provides a wide range of activities each day including baking, singing, painting, outings and parties for any special days. Mum is now unable to engage in some of these activities, however, this does not mean she is excluded. She is encouraged to join in whatever way she can. Mum enjoys the lovely food provided. We are so grateful to the management and staff for their ongoing care. It is a relief to know she is being cared for so well.
Mum has been a resident at the Knights since May 2021. She has dementia and is registered blind and severely sight impaired so things haven’t been easy for her or the family. It was hard to put her in care but we feel we have done the best for her. She is very well cared for at the Knights and treated with respect which is very important. The activities coordinator, does an excellent job organising activities to keep the residents stimulated, although due to Mum's impaired vision she cannot partake in some of them. The food is of good quality and looks delicious and the staff are kind and caring as is the manager.
My ninety-four year old mother has stayed with The Knights on a few occasions now to help with her care and progressive dementia. We felt trepidation being her regular carers about how she would feel, but once she is with them she actively engages with other residents and the carers. The atmosphere is always cheerful and positive and Mum actually is brighter when we pick her up, no doubt because she has been stimulated by the activities and the social aspect of The Knights' environment. I would recommend this home to anyone seeking respite or care for a loved family member.
My mum has been living at The Knights Retirement Home since November 2021, after having to leave our family home of over 50 years. She settled in so much quicker than I ever imagined. She is well cared for and happy. The entertainment and activities are non-stop which keeps everyone engaged and busy. Thank you, everyone.
The Knights Retirement Home feels like a home. Staff take great care to know residents' individual needs and preferences whilst respecting and celebrating differences. My aunty's happiness is always the priority in discussions with carers at The Knights which is greatly appreciated by her family. The excellent activities programme offered to residents also ensures a happy and active environment. We are very grateful for the excellent care given by The Knights team.
My mother has been a resident at The Knights for a year now. It was only supposed to be for respite as she had been in hospital, however, the manager and all the staff were so kind and helpful that our family decided it would be beneficial to Mum to make it her permanent home. The manager could not have been more helpful in making Mum happy and moving her to a bigger room. There are always activities available for residents that want it, days out and visits from entertainers. Our family is very happy with Mum's care, she has been able to take her own furniture with her so that she feels as if she is still in her own home. I would definitely recommend The Knights if you are considering residential care.
My mum first came to The Knights Retirement Home in November 2022 we chose this home because her elder sister was a resident, we had good reports from family. As expected my mum wasn’t happy about having to leave her home but she could no longer manage with family help and carers in her home. As the eldest daughter, I felt very guilty about having to put my ninety year old mum in a home. The management and staff understood this and mums GP and SW said to try for a short stay. Mum is now a permanent resident and very happy, she has made friends with staff and residents. Admittedly there were a few issues at first my mum is almost blind and has dementia so staff having to get used to Mum's very poor vision was a bit hit-and-miss at first but those issues have been resolved. Mum was moved to a bigger room, we were encouraged to bring mums own furniture, photos, TV and record player. She loves the entertainment and food and is more relaxed. She can go to her room at anytime or stay in one of the lounges. We are always welcome to visit.
My grandma was at this care home until she sadly passed before Christmas. They cared until the end and looked after us as a family too, making sure we could all see Grandma and came to check in on us. They do lots of activities which she loved, and there is a real lovely feeling when you're there.
My husband was given the most kindest, brilliant care and love I could ever have hoped for. He was not the easiest person to deal with yet the manager and all her team were superb and still are. I follow them and know how fantastic they are with every single resident. I would happily live there myself. When my husband died with COPD, they were the kindest people I have ever met and they sorted everything for me going far well over what they were paid to do. The Knights will stay in my heart forever. I recommend to whoever I can and know, whoever goes, will be treated with total love and respect. Thank you for giving me chance to put in writing.
My nana has been a resident at The Knights for four months now. Initially, we chose The Knights as her sister was also a resident. Nana was very reluctant to enter a care home but being ninety, visually impaired and suffering from dementia it got impossible to keep her at home. We are overall very happy with The Knights and the care they provide. Nana has a lovely room and has been able to personalise it. There are lots of activities from painting to baking, sing-alongs, events for Christmas and Valentine's day, they bring outside artists in and hold celebration parties and visits from pets. I love the social media page and the daily updates. It's nice to see the residents enjoying themselves. The local park is next door to The Knights and the residents are taken out to see the gardens and feed the ducks. My nana is now very happy in her new home. The manager and the team are always on hand to answer any queries and issues are resolved swiftly.
My mum moved to The Knights Retirement Home in July 2022, this being one of the hardest decision we have had to make as a family. The manager and staff were brilliant and made my mum's transition smooth, taking care of her but also supporting me and my children. Since then, what a difference! My mum is happy, she is smiling again and never stops singing and dancing. The staff are brilliant and never a truer word has been spoken than the motto for the home which is "our residents do not live in our workplace, we work in their home". The daily posts and videos on social media are brilliant, they are always up to something fun! The home has regular parties for us to attend and even have an alpaca visit! I cannot thank The Knights enough for making my mum dance again, this home is a real gem!
My mum lives at the Knights. She is so happy there. Staff are warm and friendly, they can't do enough for the residents and their visitors. I have sat in on some of the activity groups, they are amazing. Thank you for making my mum happy.
