View Full Details of The Knowle Care HomeThe home is very nice and friendly to residents and visitors. It's good to know my mother is in safe hands. There is a very relaxed atmosphere.
The staff are very friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean with plenty of storage space. Overall, I would recommend to others.
I am extremely happy with the care my mother receives, would highly recommend The Knowle Care Home to anyone looking for a home for a relative.
Our mum has lived at the Knowle for nearly two years and over that time, her health has continued to deteriorate. The staff have always shown her kindness and are patient with her. Due to her health condition, she is vulnerable so it is important that we, her children, feel confident she is safe and we are. The Knowle is a relatively small care home with approximately 28 residents. We believe this is important for our mum because all the staff know her, and her needs. She would get lost in a larger home. The staff are always kind and supportive to us and for this and the continued care for our mum, we are very grateful. Each day there are activities led by an enthusiastic and very kind activities coordinator. These activities break up the time and engage the resident’s minds, which is very important stimulation for all the residents. Thank you so much.
My mother is in the care home, over the last 18 months there have been lots of changes due to poor management choices and this had a negative effect on how the home was run. There has been a large turnover of staff in this time too but I am happy to say that the current manager is doing an excellent job of getting the home clean and fresh and more importantly well run. There are long-standing members of staff from assistant managers to events and activities coordinators to domestics who I have known from day one who are committed to working with empathy and compassion towards residents. The care home at this moment in time is clean, well run and I am happy with the care given to my Mother.
The staff genuinely care about the residents and all their needs. They will inform you of any problems that might be arising. The staff always make sure the residents are kept stimulated and have different activities daily.
The carers are thoughtful helpful and understanding of the resident's needs. However I do think a one-to-one with the resident should be considered as everyone's needs differ. The food is excellent. Entertainment is there for those who require it. Laundry is a little haphazard. Bathtime could be more frequent. Having said all that it is a very difficult job and the staff do their best.
Lovely home with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and caring towards my mother. The team have/and still gives my mother all the kind, loving care that she once had at her family home.
Mum resided at The Knowle for the three months prior to her death earlier this month. I and other members of the family were regular and frequent visitors and we were all impressed by the standard of care shown, not just to Mum but to all the residents. Everyone was treated with respect and affection and it's clearly a happy place. In the week leading up to Mum dying, everyone was just brilliant.
I am very happy with the care and assistance that I receive throughout my stay.
All staff are excellent, all well looked after. All the staff care for me.
My Husband went into this place for 1 week while I had a break. He went in on Saturday. On the Wednesday they sent him to A&E in an Ambulance, all alone at 3 am in the morning with nothing only the things he was wearing. I went to this place the following day to get his clothes. They kept me outside and came out with his case. When I got home his electric razor was missing. I had no choice but to go back again. I was kept outside. They came out and told me there was nothing. Our son was there and my husband was fast asleep when he left, would not put an animal here. CQC should do a check visit when they do not know they are coming.
What can I say guys but thank you. The wonderful care that my mother had for 8 years and how you helped to reverse her diabetes. Although she had Alzheimer’s and illness associated with it, the prompt action that was taken in her care by yourselves was brilliant. She came to you as a stubborn Scottish lady with diminishing capacity, not eating and walking with a stick. Within a couple of months, she had started eating, put on weight and stopped using her stick. The laughs we have had over the years with her and the only way to get her to do something, involved dancing. It is true that when people say that the home becomes the extended family. It is so true. When she passed away in November you were all very supportive to us all. It consoles us all that we have made friends for life. Thank you, guys. Sending much love to you all.
What a lovely warm welcome when visiting this home today. Residents are well cared for, served with homemade sausage rolls from their chef when I visited. Residents enjoyed the sunshine in the courtyard chatting with the staff.
The Knowle is an excellent care home with exemplary staff and management. It is such a difficult decision to place a family member in a care home, especially when they are resistant. The reassuring communication from management and the carers was so helpful at this point and they made sure Mum's mobile was always charged. Communication is key! If there is an issue or concern, it is dealt with promptly with transparency and because of the experiences we have encountered with The Knowle, my siblings and I know Mum is in safe hands. The Knowle managed covid with clear communication and safety at its core. Every credit to the staff for keeping themselves safe in order to care for our relatives, who have become their family during this unprecedented period of time. As a result of their safety measures, no one became ill with covid 19. Mum is happier than she has been in years. I knew the Knowle was special from initial contact and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
My mum has been in The Knowle over 2 years and has settled in nicely. I do not worry about her as I know she is having the best care. She loves her room as she can go there and it feels like home. The staff stay the same and hardly ever change.
I cannot praise the home too highly as all the staff have been so caring and compassionate. It's been a relief to know the care and understanding has been to the highest standard, not just to my relative but to watch the same care been given to other residents. Nothing was too much trouble in adapting the room to my relative's needs and wishes which helped her to settle in quickly. I cannot thank the staff at the Knowle enough for all they do.
We are very pleased with the care my sister has received since being in The Knowle. If there have been any care problems, they have been addressed immediately. I have found the staff to be friendly when I have visited, and if I have had any questions to ask, the staff have been helpful. It took my sister quite a long time to settle down, but I feel that she is now very comfortable and happy in her room. She tells me she has enjoyed all her meals since being in The Knowle.
I wouldn’t ever send another member of my family here, complete lack of compassion for family members once their service is no longer appropriate, kept personal belongings of my mother and then refuse to answer emails when we ask for their return. Please avoid leaving these people caring for someone you love.
All the staff are friendly and approachable. My nan seems to think highly of the staff and enjoys living at The Knowle. It is always clean and the meals are good. Communication with family is also very good. The drive is on a hill and has many potholes, sometimes the staff cars park too close together on the drive which makes it unsafe for walking frame usage. The ramp also needs attention.
