View Full Details of Lakeview LodgeMy Grandmother has been at Lakeview Lodge for four months now, and myself and the family are so happy with how quickly she has settled in. She has dementia and severe communication difficulties, but the staff are always so supportive and kind, treating her with genuine warmth and dignity. Having had a negative experience with a care home immediately proceeding her admission into Lakeview, we were apprehensive, thankfully this was quickly proven unjustified. I would certainly recommend Lakeview for loved ones with dementia.
The resident is well looked after, and is happy and settled, eats very well.
Mum's room is lovely, always clean and has a great view of Fairhaven Lake and the sea. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food is good and freshly prepared. The rooms downstairs are bright, and there is a nice atmosphere with televisions for residents to watch. Overall, it's a good home, and we are pleased we chose to bring our mum here.
I have only praise for the manager and staff at Lakeview Lodge. It is well-run, clean and caring and meeting all my husband's needs. He has severe dementia along with other medical issues - but I could not wish for him to be in a more caring environment.
My Dad was at Lakeview for 15 months and had great care and attention there. He was admitted as he is suffering from dementia. The team running Lakeview is very helpful kind and understanding to everyone’s needs. His room was on the first floor accessed via a lift that was kept clean and tidy and the social area was comfortable and clean. There are activities run most days and all are encouraged to participate in. For myself, on a personal measure, the unit manager is super professional and a great communicator. The ambiance of this care home is a reflection of her.
Mum is very well cared for. The staff are very good with all the residents. The home is very clean and tidy. The staff try to make it a happy home to live in!
My mum was admitted in March 2021 to Lakeview Lodge she has been looked after with care and I am always made welcome when visiting. Her room and lounge areas are always clean and tidy and the staff are always pleasant and caring towards her needs. I am impressed with all the activities the residents can participate in the themed events which are done on a regular basis. At no time have I felt my mum has been unhappy.
My dad has been at Lakeview Lodge for about five months now. The decision to move dad into a care home was not made lightly. His decision was causing problems for him to live alone, and after much soul searching I decided to give the home a try. This was the very best decision, Dad has settled in really well and he seems more alert and enjoys joining in with the many activities that the staff provide.
My grandma came to Lakeview Lodge for a weeks respite care. The care she received was person centred and she was made to feel at home straight away. The manager is fantastic, and nothing is too much for the carers. My grandma said she really enjoyed the food, and liked having her hair and nails done. She also said she would be happy to return for another holiday as she put it.
My father was a resident from August 2020 until February 2022. Due to my father needing more specialised Dementia Care, it was with sadness that we had to move him from Lakeview Lodge. My father was very settled and happy there, and the care was of a very high standard. The staff were very friendly, and it’s obvious they care a great deal about their residents. It was always a comfort to me to know he was safe and well looked after, anything medical was dealt with promptly, doctors called out when needed, informed if he needed anything at all. I cannot praise all the staff enough chef, housekeeping, carers, everyone who makes Lakeview Lodge the wonderful place it is. I have to also add that the Lakeview Lodges manager is exceptional and helped with patience, compassion and understanding throughout the last difficult months, of which I will be eternally grateful.
Absolutely fantastic. My mother, who has dementia, lives with me and respite care was impossible to arrange during lockdown. Even subsequently it has been difficult to get one or two weeks respite anywhere so I felt lucky to get any type of care at all when it was needed and this experience was well above standard. The accommodation is great (not too big, not too small; rooms are en suite) and my mum really benefitted from being around people of her own age. She said the food was great and talked very positively about the care providers (though sadly does not remember their names for me to thank personally). She enjoyed the weekly visits from the hair-dresser and appears to have been active. In the longer term, if she needs permanent care, Lakeview is very much on our radar and I will be using them again for respite. If you are struggling to find respite care (and even without the pandemic this is a significant challenge) and you are lucky enough to get a room at Lakeview - take it.
My great aunt has been a resident at Lakeview Lodge for over 3 years. She has received a fantastic level of care by the staff and this has been a great comfort to our family, knowing she is in safe hands. As visitors, we have always been well received by the staff and our visits have been well-coordinated, especially during the pandemic and we have been updated on restrictions and able to see out Auntie when possible. Just recently my aunt celebrated her 99th Birthday and we were able to visit to pass on the well wishes of friends and family. The home really went above and beyond on the day to make her feel special and she said she “felt like a queen!” Her day consisted of music and dancing and the home even made a birthday cake with her picture on. Our auntie was made to feel so special and she had a fabulous time. The staff are always friendly and obviously care so much about all the residents. The atmosphere in the home is always happy and I would recommend Lakeview to all.
My mum has been at Lakeview Lodge firstly as respite care during 2019 then as a permanent resident since March 2020. The home is always bright, clean, friendly and has a relaxed atmosphere. The care staff genuinely care about the individual residents and their needs. Almost every day there is some sort of entertainment/activity to suit different tastes but there is no pressure to join in if the resident would rather not. It has been especially reassuring for us as a family during the last year that my mum has been so well cared for and very content. My mum has had medical issues that have been dealt with efficiently and with care and compassion. The visiting arrangements due to COVID guidance have been organised very well. I would recommend Lakeview Lodge to anyone who has a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer's requiring temporary or permanent residential care.
Excellent dementia care home, well run with caring, considerate and helpful staff. My mother moved there over a year ago after needing extra care due to onset of vascular dementia and the care she has received has been very good. Staff are knowledgeable and caring and arrange doctor call-outs when required and keep us informed. Staff are friendly and helpful and always make visiting a pleasure. They have coped very well through the Covid crisis and managed well through this difficult time, including construction of a visitors booth. Mum always appears clean and well dressed when I visit and the home will call me if they need anything (clothes etc.). Mum also had a medical problem (prolapse) when she started at the home and the care given by the staff and visiting medical teams has resulted in this becoming much less of a problem than it was over a year ago.
My aunt moved to Lakeview following a couple of months at the Moorings. It was agreed that Lakeview was more suited to her needs as she has dementia which accelerated quickly, since the death of her sister and then a fractured hip. The decision to have her live in a care home was hard and full of guilt but I am so so glad we did. She is not the easiest of residents but the care, patience and love that she receives from the staff is second to none. We are kept up-to-date with all aspects of her care. The food is outstanding! They have a wonderful chef that involves the residents in baking and food prep and a housekeeper that keeps the rooms spotless. Lakeview's manager is exceptional, taking time out of her day every day to sit with my aunt, have a coffee and listen to music from Italy, This takes her back to her happy place with her sister before this awful disease takes that memory. I would definitely recommend Lakeview Care Home
Dad suffered a serious head injury and this combined with vascular dementia and falls created caring difficulties for the family. Lakeview Lodge could not have been any more helpful and supportive to us all. The care provided to Dad has seen him settle well in very difficult covid circumstances and has eased the decision making, particularly for Mum. Staff and the manager are kind to Dad and ensure his dignity and respect and his safety are prioritised. They are very responsive to all communication and accommodate visits as far as is possible. I would highly recommend Lakeview Lodge for specialist care for those with dementia-type illnesses.
My mum has been at Lakeview for a year now and her care has been outstanding. She recently had a care review and the manager was excellent explaining all the care Mum receives and what her care needs are. All the care records are kept up to date and my sister and I are informed if Mum is unwell and kept up to date with any changes. All staff are professional and caring. My mum is unable to hear so communication is difficult but they communicate using written words. Mum went to Lakeview just before the 1st lockdown due to covid, this was the best decision we made as she is happy and I know she is well cared for. Thank you to all at Lakeview.
Mum joined the residents of Lakeview Lodge a few weeks before Lockdown, so I was fortunate to be able to see that she was settled. It was immediately obvious how patient and caring the staff were. It was also obvious, in the way they engaged with the residents and the provision of interactive activities, that the staff were dementia trained. I was delighted that the provision was levelled for my mum's needs and ability and that Mum would be stimulated as and when she was able. During Lockdown I was sent photos of Mum making jam tarts and learning how to make a pom-pom. I also had short videos of her, blowing candles out on her birthday cake and the carers singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her. Other short videos showed Mum laughing and chatting with the carers. They were lovely for me to see and helped me to come to terms with the fact, that although I couldn’t visit my mum, I knew with certainty that she was happy and being well cared for. Thank you to all the staff at Lakeview Lodge from a grateful daughter.
My wife was diagnosed with rapid onset dementia and entered Lakeview in April 2020 just as lockdown started, initially for respite care. Covid restrictions have meant that visiting has subsequently been extremely difficult for both of us but the staff couldn't have been nicer. The manager is approachable, responsive and efficient. The carers appear kind and motivated to make residents as comfortable as possible, always helpful. The room is pleasant and the accommodation is generally clean and well maintained. Difficult for me to comment on food or activities but everyone seems happy and settled. If there can be any positive aspect at all to this situation it is that I am able to be confident she is safe, secure and well cared for.
My wife stayed at Lakeview Lodge from July 2020 until December 2020, I found all members of staff to be helpful, caring to my wife’s needs. They made the family feel welcome and informed as much as COVID 19 restrictions would allow. There were personal bonds made between my wife and staff, that helped her settle and feel safe. I would like thank everyone at Lakeview Lodge for the kindness, care and dignity shown to my wife.
