This was my first experience of residing at a care home so I didn't know what to expect and there wasn't a brochure or information folder given to residents on arrival. I chose Stella Matuntina after I had seen the beautiful chapel and learned of the daily spiritual provision of Mass and prayer times, all of which lived up to my expectations and fulfilled my needs. My physical needs were adequately met. The chefs discussed my dietary needs with me at the beginning of my stay and they faithfully adhered to the requests I made. I enjoyed daily walks in the garden but it wasn't easy to access and the lack of multiple pathways and the total lack of handrails and seats in the garden restricted enjoyment of this wonderful space. The garden needs to be re-designed, it needs more paths, flower beds, seating areas and sensory areas to bring it alive and make it accessible and stimulating for all residents in all seasons. Staff shortages were noticeable by all residents and often caused distress and upset because we had to wait too long for help despite the fact that buzzers were going off for ages and constantly going off.
My husband was in the home for 16 months and, throughout his stay, was looked after with great care and respect. Nothing was considered too much trouble, and I was more than happy with the caring attitude of all who were involved with him in any way. I would recommend Stella Matutina to everyone who needs a loving and caring environment in which to live.
Following a recommendation from a nurse practitioner friend who works on the Fylde Coast, we visited Stella Matutina in August 2021, which my mum instantly fell in love with. A caring and responsible environment with a Catholic ethos and plenty of activities available to dip in and out of as she pleased. When we get older, we have less energy. At Stella Matutina, my mum was able to make the most of her time by doing the things she enjoyed and by having medical staff (in the main) visiting her rather than her using up her valuable energy with external appointments. Sadly, Mum passed away in October 2022, but she did so surrounded by prayers, kindness and dignity. There will always be a place in my heart for Stella Matutina, where the managers, duty managers, staff and volunteers go above and beyond to make their residents feel at home.
My mum was a resident at Stella Matutina from August 2022 to November 2022, when she sadly passed away. The management and staff were fantastic in helping her to settle in, sowing great patience and care to Mum and to us. They always made us feel welcome, making us and Mum feel at home, providing us with regular updates and dealing with any concerns swiftly. It gave us great comfort to know that, when she died, she was in a place where she was treated with great care and compassion and that her faith and her values were respected.
The staff at Stella Matutina looked after my mother for the past eighteen months. I have been very pleased with the care and support she was given by the excellent staff, most of whom have worked there for a long time. When my mother's needs became greater, the care and support increased, and she was treated with dignity at all times. The home is immaculately clean and fresh, and all the food is freshly cooked. I would not hesitate to recommend Stella Matutina Care Home.
A close family friend was a resident at Stella Matutina. I was touched not only by the level of care she received by the genuine love and affection shown to her. You became her family, and she was happy and contented. Thank you.
From the time my aunt first visited for a holiday, she felt safe, welcome and love. She moved in within a month! She loved the staff and was always talking about the activities and wonderful food and care she received. Her faith life was important to her, so the fact that she could attend prayers and mass regularly was a great gift. She made new friends (with residents and staff alike). In the last years of her life, when she died, friends stayed with her constantly through her last days. She was given a wonderful, caring farewell to make her life - life that she lived to the full.
My father was a resident at Stella Matutina for 3-years. During that time, he was given such amazing care for both his health and welfare. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that he was made comfortable at all times. Dad made it to his 100th while a resident, and although Covid restrictions prevented family visits, the day was celebrated and made so special for him and the other residents by the staff and carers. I can only thank everyone at Stella Matutina for helping to make my Dad's end of life as positive as it could be and for giving me the peace of mind to know that he was so well looked after.
My mother had wonderful care at Stella Matutina. She was very happy, settled and felt very secure. She liked all the staff, and they treated her with great respect. The food was very good, and the standards of cleanliness and comfort were very high indeed. My mother died in the care home, and all the arrangements were handled so well. I always felt very confident that she was really well looked after.
Stella Matutina provided superb care for my mother in every way. The staff were professional, dedicated and caring. My mother felt safe and secure with them. The end of life care they gave was excellent and enabled my mother to have a peaceful death cared for by people who knew her well and treated her with love and compassion.
I simply cannot praise the home and staff highly enough. The care given to my Mother was absolutely wonderful in every respect. There is a real family spirit to the home, which you feel with all the staff as well. It is probably the only care home I have ever been to which is spotless and no smell whatsoever - apart from the great cooking. My Mother was treated with great dignity, patience and respect. Unfortunately, she passed away at the end of December in the home, and the staff did everything possible to support her and the family, in every way, in her final days. The staff are highly professional and well trained. Some have had many years of experience and know exactly how to deal with situations. I would say some of the rooms are slightly on the small side. This was not an issue for my Mother. There is a lovely Chapel and my Mother got great comfort from it. There are always activities going on for the residents.
Staff are very efficient and caring. The place and meals are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for all people being cared for there. Cleanliness is excellent and everyone there made my stay very happy.
Superb staff who are compassionate and caring with a sense of humour and ability to care for Mum who has both physical and emotional needs. I have found the staff endlessly patient and kind. Cleanliness/hygiene standards - excellent. All the family agree that the standard of care Mum is receiving could not be higher.
My stay at Stella Matutina has been just great. Well looked after. Treated with dignity. Food excellent also very clean. Staff the very best.
