View Full Details of Stocks Hall Residential Home OrmskirkMy mother has been a resident of the dementia wing at Stocks Hall Ormskirk since Summer 2022. This was actually the third home we tried- the other two weren't a great fit and her symptoms worsened, but since she has been at Stocks Hall Mum has been much more settled. The staff at Stocks are so friendly and caring, and have made a real effort to get to know Mum and to engage her in activities. There's always a lot going on, and a really nice atmosphere around the place. Everything is always clean and the dementia wing was recently redecorated. There are always new decorations and activities appearing around the place, so it's a stimulating environment to be in. The dining room and snug are really nicely set out in a homely style. We're really happy with the quality of care that Mum receives at Stocks. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that the outdoor facilities are a little tired and laundry sometimes goes missing.
The staff are caring and friendly. There are varied stages of dementia within the unit. It must be difficult for staff to support and help all the residents when they are at different stages of their dementia. Some require more help than others. The regular staff understand the needs of their regular residents. I have seen new residents take time to settle in. Occasionally the smooth running of the unit is disrupted by too many agency staff on duty, this is usually over the weekends. I feel the home offers comfort, support and love to its residents.
Mum has been here for over 12 months. The staff are kind and helpful and will often go the extra mile, her key worker, in particular, is fantastic. She's always clean and well looked after and despite her protestations that she's always fed spam and chips, I can confirm this is not true! There are regular activities including baking and bingo (the latter being very popular as it's an opportunity to refill her sweetie stash) and gardening in the warmer months. There have been a few instances of missing clothes/belongings which have mostly been located and if not located staff have exhaustively looked for them. The manager is very approachable and clearly knows the residents. The staff are friendly and kind.
All staff are extremely professional, caring and kind. The food is very good. Communication is excellent regarding the care plan and any events relevant to the resident. A relaxed environment, warm and welcoming.
My mother has been in Stocks Hall for approximately nine months. She took a little while to settle in, staff have been very patient with her and have tried many strategies to encourage her engagement with others. In that time, her physical health and appearance has improved massively. She has loved visiting the hairdresser each week. If we have ever had any concerns or enquiries, they have been dealt with promptly and professionally, tailoring her needs as required. Mum is slowly attending more of the social events that are many and varied. All the staff are friendly and good humoured and it is good to see both male and female carers. I feel confident that she is getting the care and attention she needs to improve her health and welfare.
Overall I am very happy with the care my mother receives and the way the home is run. I only have one small, annoying criticism rather than a complaint in that items of clothing go missing, sometimes for weeks. It is frustrating and embarrassing to continually ask staff where they are to the point of giving up.
Friendly atmosphere and very caring staff throughout. A real pleasure to visit, always welcoming. Very pleased to see Stepmum so happy and now feeling at home, and I know she is safe and cared for. Physical and mental well-being taken care of with kindness.
My dad has been in Stocks Hall for just over 12 months now. He is absolutely living his best life. Every time I go to visit, he is happy to see me but can't wait to get back into the lounge with his friends. I am so pleased he has settled in here and so grateful to the staff for keeping him safe during the pandemic. I feel that Dad has such a better quality of life now that he is being cared for by the manager and her team, and as I work in Social Care too, so I know how hard it can be sometimes to keep everyone happy. Thank you to everyone.
I cannot praise too highly the staff here. I was so worried about placing my mum. I was given good advice and contacted frequently to make sure I was fully aware of all the details. They asked me about my mum and her likes. They care about the lives of the people they care for. I just turned up, and yet, after a Covid test, I was allowed to look around. Nothing was hidden. A resident, who showed me where the office was, told me he loved the place, and the staff were great.
Having been in four different hospitals and four different care homes in the last six months, my husband is now settled in Stocks Hall. We are delighted with the standard of care he is receiving and with the home itself. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, and we feel sure, doing their utmost for him. It is a great relief for his family that he is so settled, comfortable and safe.
I came to visit my mum in August after a long break because of Covid. I was extremely pleased to find Mum was really happy enjoying life at Stocks Hall Ormskirk. I’m sure the previous 12-months had been very difficult for all of the staff, but it was wonderful to see it running smoothly as usual. All of the staff make such an effort to show love and support to the residents, encouraging them to take part in lots of fun activities. It is all appreciated by our family.
After making the hardest decision, me and my family have had to make and making contact with several residential care homes, we decided on Stocks Hall Ormskirk. My mum has been a resident for nearly four months now, and we are in no doubt that we have chosen the right place. My mum has settled so well. The staff are lovely, so caring and good at what they do. They make my mum feel that this is her home, and it is. I would like to thank the staff for looking after my mum and making her new home a nice place to be.
My mother had been in Stocks Hall Ormskirk for some time now. During this time, her care has been excellent. The staff are very kind and caring, and I couldn't wish for a better place for my mother in her declining years.
My mother stayed in Stocks Hall for a period of two months for rehab after her hip replacement operation. We have nothing but praise for management and staff for the care and attention they lavished on Mum during this period. Her every wish was catered for and she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity throughout her stay. As Mum's full-time carer, I knew she was being looked after so well that I was able to take my first holiday in four years - with complete peace of mind. Thank you!
I was in rehab for the time and so did not pay. (Value for money.)
My mum has been at this home for around eighteen months. All the staff have been so loving and caring to her. She is really happy and the family are so happy she is settled. I would and have recommended this home to many people. Any problems are dealt with straight away. The home is very friendly and relaxing.
Every time I visit, from the moment I ring the bell to enter until I leave, I always feel that its' more like a hotel. Friendliness, décor, food, everything is catered for. It's a pleasure to visit on many levels.
The care provided is of a very high standard. The staff are very professional and supportive. The rooms and facilities are very good and the cleanliness is of a high standard. The management has an open door approach and has also been most helpful and supportive.
Mum arrived at Stocks Hall in Ormskirk for rehab. Mum did not want to go into any temporary care but circumstances dictated she had to. She was met at the door by a member of staff who immediately made her welcome by using her Christian name and taking control, putting Mums grandchildren at ease. Within two days Mum announced she wanted to stay at Stocks Hall and the process began. Mum was very isolated at home due to her age, health problems and living a distance from her children and grandchildren. Now Mum joins in everything she can, is very happy and very well cared for. In general Stocks Hall is excellent and Mum's gripes are minimal. However, there is not enough variety of vegetables at meal times. The meals are too close together. Her room is small but I think it’s the same size as many others and more than adequate for her need. Mum felt very lucky to go to rehab here and I have no concerns about her care or welfare.
The whole team were caring, attentive and helpful. Mum returned home from rehab unit. The care was excellent and relationship with patients was humorous but always respectful. All patients included in activities which were lovely. Food good and they worked hard to offer a good selection.
