View Full Details of Swillbrook House Residential Care HomeMy Mother has settled well in the short time she has been at Swillbrook. She was recovering from sepsis and was quite poorly and had been bedbound for 6 weeks. Within 2 weeks Mum was eating better, was dressed in the lounge and communicated much better. In fact, Mum's recovery was quite remarkable, thanks to the management and staff's support. Mum has resided in 4 other care homes to date and Swillbrook far surpasses all of them. Mum is well cared for on all levels and the care home is always welcoming and has a great vibe. The residents are treated with dignity and respect. I couldn't want for a better place for Mum and wouldn't hesitate recommending them!
My mum is staying at Swillbrook House temporarily following hospital discharge. She hated the idea of a care home, but the staff are so lovely and play dominoes with her - she actually really likes it!
The staff are always smiling, nothing is too much bother. Mum seems to have settled well. When it's nice weather we have a sit in the lovely gardens. I like the fact they do activities. Mum is always well dressed and presented.
My mum has settled well into Swillbrook House due in main to the excellent care provided by the staff team and lovely environment. The food is excellent and my mum enjoys the activities, especially the bingo. My family are regular visitors and a long with friends we are always made to feel very welcome.
My mum is receiving an excellent level of care, and whenever I visit, she is always clean, comfortable and happy. It gives me great peace of mind to know that she is in a good place, both literally and mentally, and I cannot thank the wonderful staff enough for everything they do to ensure her well-being. I would highly recommend the team at Swillbrook.
Mum initially came into Swillbrook House for short-term respite care whilst my dad was in the hospital. Sadly, Dad died, and Swillbrook House has now become Mum's permanent home. She has obviously been very distressed and unsettled, but the staff, without exception, have been kind and caring. They go out of their way to care for Mum, spending lots of time with her, checking she is ok and has everything she needs, and listening to her when she wants to talk. We have been very happy with all aspects of her care. The house is homely, the food is good and plentiful, Mum is clean and well dressed, she can have drinks and snacks whenever she wants them, and visiting is on an open-door basis which is lovely. The gardens are also really nice, well-maintained, with lots of bird feeders, all of which Mum really enjoys.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent location and peaceful surroundings. The home is very clean, and the catering provides both great food and flexible arrangements. My mother has been a resident since mid-June and has settled in very well, assisted by the excellent staff.
My parents were both scheduled to take up residence at Swillbrook House, Dad due to respiratory problems and Mum due to Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, Dad was admitted to the hospital, where he subsequently passed away, leaving Mum to go into the care home alone. The transition from living as a couple in their own home to being alone in a care home has been a traumatic one for Mum, but the staff at Swillbrook have been amazing. They can't do enough to help her, as well as us, and have made Mum feel so welcome. The food is excellent too. All are highly recommended.
The staff are very caring and friendly, we are always welcome to visit our mum at any time, which is really important to our family.
My husband has been in respite care since May 31st and has settled down very well after being discharged from the hospital. The staff are very caring, and residents are treated with dignity. The food smells delicious every time I visit, and the cleanliness of the rooms is evident. He has come on with his mobility since arrival and is always clean and dressed when we go. All the staff have bent over backwards to accommodate us all as a family unit in these difficult circumstances.
From the minute I met the manager, she made me feel very welcome and listened to my concerns and what needs I needed to be met. She has kept me updated with everything concerning my relative. She has shown care and compassion throughout, and in her absence, the two carers, in particular, have also been very accommodating. Even the cleaner has made us feel very welcome and always sits and has a chat with us. Overall, I am very satisfied with everything so far.
The staff took my medication off me and told me I would be given it at the correct times each day, but I soon realised the following day that if I didn't ask a staff member when I was due my medication, I wouldn't receive it at all, and this carried on for the whole two months of my stay. After being there for two weeks, I was asked to move to another bedroom, the room I moved into didn't have any curtains up in it and although again I asked nearly every other day about whether I was going to receive any curtains, I was told they had ordered them. I had to put towels up at my windows for five weeks because I wasn't given any curtains. The food was inadequate and too small portions, and also was given powdered soup each night for our evening meal, which tasted like cardboard. The cleanliness of the building and the kitchen area was not very good at all and at one point I had to ask the management to clean the microwave it was that dirty.
My mother was welcomed at Swillbrook House and settled in very quickly. The staff are kind and courteous, as well as being attentive. If I phone to speak with her, they always know exactly where she is, and we can speak immediately. My mother enjoys the garden area and the countryside views. The local and group management team are constantly improving service, and are always ready to listen and act on suggestions.
My husband has settled extremely well, as there is such a warm, friendly atmosphere at Swillbrook. I am always welcomed and made to feel part of the family, and can visit whenever I want.
I find the staff pleasant and maintain a calm atmosphere with the residents. They are welcoming, and my husband is settled.
My family and I have been so incredibly impressed with the care and compassion displayed at Swillbrook. My elderly grandparents understandably found the transition to living in residential care a difficult one at first, but both of them have settled so well in their new environment, and this is absolutely down to the level of personal, individualised care they have received. The entire team have been so supportive of them, and we are so very thankful to everyone for making them feel so at home. The staff are so patient with the,m and this has made a huge difference. Working as a healthcare professional myself, I understand the challenges of this environment, and I have been suitably impressed. The home has made it so easy for us to even bring all the great-grandchildren to visit as well, which has been lovely. Many thanks for your continued care for two people that are very precious to us.
Can highly recommend Swillbrook House to care for a family member or close friend in their moment of need. The quality of care is excellent and very reassuring both for the person being cared for and those family and friends who know them. It is not a sprawling medical-style establishment. It has the feel and looks of a large happy family home which is very comforting and relaxing.
Mum is supported greatly by carers to maintain her independence in doing the things she loves, such as planting flowers and feeding the birds. The team, work hard to continue to improve the services at Swillbrook House and deserve all the recognition for this. Although we don't get to visit Mum often, we communicate often by phone and enjoy hearing how settled and happy Mum is.
Staff are helpful, food is good, singers are really good.
I am always reluctant about having my hair cut, purely because I have reached an age (61) that I am not sure it will grow back again quickly. After pestering from my family and the carers at Swillbrook House, I took the plunge and have not regretted it. I had a super haircut which has been admired by many. I will have no hesitation in going back to her again.
