View Full Details of Norton LodgeI am the daughter of my mum who is a resident here. She is being looked after amazingly by the staff and nothing is ever too much for them. They are so welcoming when I come and see her and you can see they take their time to look after my mum. There is a new manager who has been there for a while now and she has changed everything for the better. She is so approachable and is able to help with any questions I have and is so supportive with anything the family may need.
Provided excellent care from day one of Mum coming to live here. All staff are caring and supportive, show Mum and me respect, and help Mum retain her dignity. Always welcoming whatever time I visit. It is clear nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. I am happy knowing Mum is safe, secure and happy here.
The staff is always alert, caring and attentive. My mother-in-law is safe and well cared for. Despite advancing dementia she is healthy and happy. The facilities are appropriate and the staff deal well with her changing condition.
My father went rapidly downhill whilst a resident here. Most of the staff were uncaring indifferent and rather cruel. The manager was unapproachable and unempathetic. The food, from what I saw which was lunch times, was cold and very unappetising e.g cold pasta with a bit of tuna on, chips cold ham and lumpy gravy (no veg), watery stew with one piece of meat in it. Other residents were complaining about it but were ignored as they were most of the time. My dad was not taken to the toilet when he asked and was left to wet himself which was very upsetting for him, he was also left in a wet bed in the morning (he has mobility problems). When I asked about this it was denied and said he was making it up until myself and my sister witnessed it ourselves to which we were extremely distressed. He lost mental capacity and mobility whilst at this home. Within a week we moved dad to a very caring home and the difference is amazing his mental and physical health is so much better.
My Grandad was only at Norton Lodge from July 21 before sadly passing recently. The girls looked after him like he was their own, nothing was too much bother and he loved the interaction with them. A few teething issues at first which was Grandad getting used to his legs not working but the team helped him adapt and settle. We were so worried about him going into a home but we didn't need to be. Absolutely wonderful manager and the girls were the best ever and he loved the food. Thank you.
My mother was a resident at Norton Lodge up until May 21. The staff looked after my mother like she was a member of their own family and treated me amazingly when I visited. I was a very regular visitor and believe me when I say nothing was too much trouble. My mother was very happy while she was a resident there and her care was exceptional. I always slept well in the knowledge that my mother was so well looked after. Given that my mother suffered from dementia and various other ailments, I can honestly say that the staff went above and beyond whilst they cared for her and I can’t recommend Norton Lodge enough. Sadly, my mother has passed away now but I’m sure that she would wholeheartedly endorse everything I’m saying. Thank you to all the staff at Norton Lodge for everything they did for us whilst my mother was with them.
The initial manager was very uncooperative and visiting in a hot conservatory was very unpleasant. The staff were very professional and the manager was very helpful. One of the carers deserves a special mention. She was exceptional with caring for my mother and also understood our dispair.
Staff were always very kind to my mum. The previous manager was appalling she was rude and unhelpful, the new manager a gentleman was lovely and helpful, In my mums final days, the dedication of the staff was outstanding.
We knew this would be the right place for Mum from the first contact with the home. The manager has taken great care with helping us find our way through the system of Residential care and the different support systems that coincide with it. Mum took a little time to settle but with the great care of the staff and manager things have gone from strength to strength in the home. Apart from Covid making visits difficult we still manage to see her - no hugs yet.
My mother has been a resident at Norton Lodge for almost 4-years. Although the first few days were really upsetting for all of us, the manager and staff were very reassuring and Mum soon began to settle. Staff have really good relationships with the residents, the patience and care I’ve witnessed personally put my mind at rest, Mum has the very best of care. I’m quickly informed should an issue arise. The home is very clean, fresh, warm and comfortable for residents and visitors. I’ve always been offered refreshments when visiting Mum. All staff are very approachable, always on hand to answer any questions or just for a chat. The lounges are very comfortable with one leading into a bright conservatory. The daily menu board lists very appetising and varied meals, always with choices. The manager certainly “stepped up to the mark” with the arrival of COVID 19, the home has been virus-free due to the diligence of all staff.
One of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make was agreeing that my mum needed 24-hour care. Within minutes of walking through the door of Norton Lodge, we knew we had found the right home for my mum. The staff are so dedicated, kind, caring and patient, which has helped my mum to settle and now feels at home there. They care for my mum as if they were caring for one of their own relatives, and I know that I can trust them implicitly.
From the very beginning of my mother’s stay at Norton Lodge, I have only praise for the whole team. My mother is treated with absolute respect and dignity. The team have a professional and very caring approach for everyone and that includes family members too. My personal experience has always been lovely and always made me welcome at the home. I can ring at any time and always get a fantastic response. I’m always kept very well informed of anything to do with my mum no matter big/small. During the pandemic I can only offer praise for the fantastic team that has looked after and protected my mum, they have kept everyone safe under the most frightening of circumstances.
