View Full Details of Trewan HouseMum arrived at Trewan House a few years ago after receiving poor care in other nearby establishments. She quickly put on weight and became far more ambulant with support. The staff have always been kind and caring with Mum, as well as with me, which is so important as I live so far away. I could not fault any aspect of the service provided at Trewan House.
My Mum came to live at Trewan House in June of last year. She has been in other care homes but had always been unhappy and unsettled. My Mum has really settled in well and enjoys the activities and is more happy than she has been for years. As a family it gives us peace of mind to know she is well looked after by your caring staff.
Excellent care for my grandparents. They are well looked after, kept very clean and are doing really well. They are both happy here and can see how much better they are from coming here. Their mobility is also a lot better since becoming a resident.
It is a happy place, the home is clean and comfortable. The food is excellent, the home is well-run and very organised and the residents are well looked after. The activity coordinator is excellent and has lots of new ideas.
Staff are committed and have the needs of the residents as a priority. Meeting the needs of a disparity of residents, in terms of age, gender and risk, is hard work and no doubt this home would benefit from extra staffing resources and more robust support from the local authority. Despite this, the team makes every effort to support the needs of every resident. I think excellence ratings are unhelpful as this gives the impression that there is no need for improvement. In every field within the caring professions, there is always room for improvement.
I always receive a welcome from the staff on arrival. Mum is bed bound and it's clear the staff are taking very good care of her. She is always washed and dressed ready for visitors in her room, which is clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and caring, they pop in and check on Mum regularly. Mum has a lovely room with a view of the garden, which is important for her. The manager and all the staff are very approachable and helpful.
My mum is very well looked after and the staff members are all lovely and caring towards her. The home is beautifully decorated with lovely furniture to match and always smells lovely. The food is amazing, all freshly made and cooked from scratch. Any problems or queries are sorted out immediately. Not that I have had a problem as things seem to be fine. When I take Mum out, she can’t wait to get back. I know she feels secure being there and is always greeted with open arms by carers and management when she returns from being out with family.
Mum has dementia and was placed in Trewan House following the passing of my father. The dementia, as expected, has progressively worsened but Trewan House staff have throughout proactively sought to manage this and make her stay as comfortable as possible. They have continually looked for ways to ensure she is both cared for and safe on a daily basis and has adapted their procedures to cater for her. It is evident that staff ensure the residents' personal hygiene is regarded with high importance. The accommodation is clean and tidy and only recently the common/shared facilities have been refurbished and redecorated with little disturbance to the residents.
My mum resides at Trewan House in Widnes. She has been there for about 16 months now and despite a difficult start, she has settled and treats it now as home. This has been mainly due to the excellent staff that look after her. They obviously care greatly for the residents. Over recent months, Trewan House has, very carefully, been refurbished. They took great care to work without disturbing the residents and the results are quite excellent. The main day room has been tastefully decorated and new furniture installed. It makes for a very comfortable and calming room where people are happy to spend time with the staff on their daily activities. Other rooms have benefitted from the refurbishment too. There is a very comfortable day room and a lovely cinema room. Top marks for achieving this without causing distress to the residents.
Staff are always friendly and attentive to the needs of my father and indeed all the other residents. The refurbished day rooms look fantastic and very homely. This is a well-run care home with lots of dedication from the managers right through to the care staff and kitchen staff. Well done team.
Lovely happy place. Staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The staff are clearly caring and are especially good and patient with residents who have dementia. The key to all care homes is kindness and this one ticks all the boxes. Thank you.
Mum has only been in Trewan House two months and so far, the family and friends are happy with the care they provide.
There are not enough characters here for me to give an in-depth review, my mother was a resident for 3 years, passing away there on October 13th 2022. Standards had initially been very high but had started to slip all around in the last 18 months or so. Suffice to say my brother and I had on a couple of occasions spoken to alternative care homes. To be fair there were "specific" carers who were exemplary. Brief summary, my mother passed away in the very early hours of the 13th. Apart from staff members who were on duty later that morning when my brother and I called, (even today as I write this review) I have not had any contact from any of the management, no "sorry about", no "condolences" or even a card and though advised of funeral service dates, no representation from Trewan House attended. I had also paid my mother's last invoice up to and including 31st October and no refund to date has been offered or forwarded.
My visit is allowed to take place in the main residents' lounge, which is much appreciated due to Mum'd mobility. Whilst staffing levels do vary, I have noticed once afternoon entertainment ends, it would be beneficial if one of the carers could be based there rather than in the adjacent dining room. Without a presence, it makes it difficult for residents to obtain assistance. Everyone is addressed by first name, making it personable and I am always welcome.
Staff are attentive to the residents' needs. They go out of their way to ensure that they are happy and comfortable in their surroundings and constantly talk to the residents. At meal times, the staff will always try to accommodate the residents' preference of meals. My wife's bedroom is always clean and tidy. Since the new owners have taken over, they are investing in the home to improve the facilities for the residents. When they speak to my wife she always greets them with a smile which is comforting for me, as I know she is happy.
