Five years and counting since my gran went into Berwick House Rest Home. She celebrated her 107th birthday in August. I truly believe if she hadn't gone into Berwick, she may not be here today. Every need has been attended to from day one. Over the years this has changed to her own individual needs. Each and every one of the staff has contributed to her health and well-being. Long may it continue. I would recommend Berwick House to anyone.
I just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff at Berwick House Rest Home, always so friendly, thoughtful and caring and very accommodating when you visit. Every time I have been in contact for an update on my father, they have got back to me straightaway which is so appreciated as I live over 5 hours away. One member of staff, in particular, has been brilliant so a big thank you to all the staff.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Berwick House now for just over nine months and I cannot fault the staff in any way. Knowing that she is in a safe secure environment puts our minds at rest and we cannot thank them enough. All the staff go above and beyond to make sure all her needs are met plus keeping us as a family updated every step of the way. It doesn't matter what time of the day we visit we are always made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum moved to Berwick House in May 2023. The staff and management were welcoming and friendly. They have always been welcoming and friendly throughout the time Mum is in Berwick House. They are always willing to discuss and update me on Mum's state and health changes, both good and bad. They also allow me to pop by and visit at any time, which allows me to visit when I have a bit of time with my tasks and travels. Berwick House, the management and staff provide a safe and secure environment for Mum, and this puts my mind at rest knowing Mum is being cared for.
Mum has been really happy at Berwick House. All the staff are very kind, welcoming and professional. It is a great comfort to know she is well cared for. The staff all engage with her really well and they are also happy to address any questions we may have as a family.
Mum arrived at Berwick House 18 months ago; she has Alzheimer’s. Her disease is more advanced now, so communication is more difficult, but she truly seems happy and settled. I can’t thank the staff enough; they are all so kind. Mum is very well cared for by everyone. We are kept well informed of what is happening with her.
My mum has been a resident at Berwick house since September, she is a new person! So calm and relaxed and very settled. The staff from the manager to all the nurses and carers are very easy to communicate with (I enjoy talking to them all) and so helpful. I can relax now knowing that she is safe and cared for.
My mum had been declining a lot since she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's with vascular dementia. She wasn't coping well at home and was refusing local care. She had a fall and went into hospital. From here she was assessed and suggested she go to Berwick for a placement to support her. Since she went she has improved with her daily care, she is now eating better and they have her diabetes under control. It was difficult to think she may need to stay but after further assessments again, it was suggested she was in the best place. The manager and the team have been lovely. They have explained the improvements they wish to make and my mum has helped transform the garden. We visit regularly and we are made welcome. Going to see Mum is so much nicer now and we go out whenever we want to. Before going to Berwick every day was a battle.
My Mum has been on placement as a Resident at Berwick Care Home since September 2023. I feel like my Mum is supported with her emotions, as the staff are very caring towards her they give her cuddles and talk to her when she is upset and confused which is a great comfort to me. The staff also help her with dressing, bathing and her medication. She has settled well there, especially in her room which is very homely, comfortable and has a lovely view of the garden. The meals provided are wholesome, comfort food which my Mum always eats leaving nothing on her plate, she also loves the puddings, endless cups of tea, cordial and water supplied throughout the day. I have even been able to bring her cat in to see her which has brought her so much joy and happiness. My Mum also loves the activities, singing, colouring, walks to a nearby park and we have just been told about a trip around the Illuminations with Fish/Chips which I know she will thoroughly enjoy.
Absolutely dreadful place. The staff seem okay, manager is non-existent. The way residents are turned out is disgraceful and never usually in their own clothes. How anyone can be happy with the service provided is beyond me. Even CQC agree it needs improvement and not well-led. Really gone down the pan over the last 6 months, please look elsewhere.
Mum has been a resident at Berwick House for six months now. Mum was a very independent lady who lived on her own but required more help just before her accident at home, which resulted in a broken hip and unable to walk. The manager and staff at Berwick House have helped her to settle in with their caring and thoughtful approach to Mum’s requirements. I feel confident that Mum is safe and well looked after in her new environment.
My mum-in-law has just celebrated a big birthday and the staff made her day a very special one. We are always made welcome when visiting as the home has a very happy family-friendly feel. There always seem to be lots of activities for the residents too. So glad we chose Berwick House to care for Mum-in-law as we know she is being cared for and being kept safe, which is very reassuring for the rest of the family.
My mum has been in Berwick House for 3 months now and has settled in really well. I could not be happier with the level of care that she is receiving. The staff are so friendly and always come and chat with the pair of us when I visit. I am always kept up to date with how she is doing.
Now under new management, Berwick House Rest Home has a happy homely atmosphere along with some caring friendly staff. I now feel safe in the knowledge knowing my Mother has the best care. Thank you, everyone.
We visited my aunt who has recently arrived at the home. We were welcomed by the staff who were extremely friendly. They were very kind and caring to the residents. My aunt's room was spacious, clean and tidy. She said that the food was excellent and after the entertainment, a very plentiful buffet was brought out for both residents and visitors alike. The atmosphere was lovely and caring. Very happy that she is there.
My mum has been in Berwick now over 3 months I can't thank the manager and her wonderful staff enough for settling and re-assuring both my mum and myself The communication has been A1. It can be a difficult time for all concerned but Berwick have made that pathway without issues. Her room is nice her care is excellent the new meal menus are fantastic and we are always made welcome from the friendly staff when visiting my mum. There is always good thing going on with all the resident's garden partys, sing alongs, walks out etc along with internal building upgrades making Berwick care home an excellent choice Thank you
Had reservations about Mum going into the home. Had a good tour from the manager. Was able to choose a nice room. Mum has appeared to settle better than I thought. Has been kept busy through activities. I know she is now eating/drinking well and being kept clean - something she was not able to do living on her own. Her medication has been reviewed and changed to suit her - again something I was unable to achieve while she was living independently. I know she is safe and communication from the manager during this settling-in period has been exemplary and helped assuage any fears me and my wife had in this process. All the staff have been excellent and Mum tells me every time I visit that they are all lovely.
My mum has just become a resident of Berwick House, and the management and staff have all been amazing. My mum is very happy here and settled very well due to everyone's care and time given to create a happy and friendly environment for her and all the other residents.
My great Nana is a resident in this care home, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. It’s a worrying time leaving a loved one in the care of others, but here you know they are being looked after, and they are going above and beyond to make sure each resident is being individually cared for. My Nana loves all the staff and can see how comfortable she is with them, which makes us feel more relaxed her living there. We can’t thank the staff enough for all they do, and I would definitely recommend this care home.
