View Full Details of The Parklands Care HomeMy mum moved into Parklands approximately 18 months ago as it had been recognised that she needed 'round the clock' care. Initially, my family and I thought Mum wouldn't settle but due to the care, attention and genuine kindness shown to Mum by all of the staff, Mum settled in quite quickly and she is now very happy living there. 18 months ago it had been a difficult time, trying to choose the right care home to look after my mum, but eventually, my family and I chose the Parklands and we are so very pleased we did, It was definitely the right choice. Lovely care home with fantastic staff, who are caring, kind, approachable and very competent.
This Home is warm and friendly, looking after those who can no longer look after themselves. The staff are caring and loving. The home is comfortable with good activities and offers good food. Your loved one will settle in and be happy here, safe and cared for. You cannot ask for more.
Parklands have looked after and kept me informed during a very difficult time on the progress and state of my stepfather. He has continued to do well and is in a much better place than had he stayed at home alone, isolated, losing weight and losing any motivation he had. Thank you Parklands.
My dad arrived at Parklands care home and loved it, although there weren’t many residents at the time. My dad was a personable person and loved many of the staff, some were wonderful to him, he also had a large family so he had visitors most days. But as dad began to deteriorate and due to a very high turn over of staff and management, the standard of care began to drop, so much so after a serious fall not reported to the family (8 weeks in hospital). We had no option but to remove dad from this facility because his health, care and dignity was our utmost priority. Sadly I could not recommend this home for anyone’s elderly parent.
My Gran has been at The Parklands for a few months now. It was a family decision for her to move into the home as she couldn't cope at home anymore. She is well cared for by the staff and looks very happy in our video calls.
Sadly we found as a family, The Parklands Care Home to be very substandard in the care of our late dad to such a degree that we reluctantly moved him to another care home as our dad's complex medical condition and his personal care was not being taken care of. Some staff was very helpful and others not so helpful and constantly changing management made it almost impossible to keep an accurate document of our late dad's care. Saying all of this Dad was very happy at the care home but sadly we had no choice but to move him as his condition was deteriorating and we lost confidence in the management team. Our dad's welfare and health was our main priority.
Excellent care home. My dad is cared for very well and with dignity. All the staff are extremely friendly, very approachable and helpful. All staff are well trained and explain the care well. The care home is very clean and has a pleasant aroma. All the residents always look clean and well cared for. Plenty of food and drinks are offered to residents and visitors.
My mum has dementia. I find the staff very caring and they think a lot about all the residents, in my mind they all give 110% regarding all the residents' needs, but the staff seem to not stay for long. I think the incentives and pay are not enough is a main reason or concern, also I think they may be short-staffed to cope with all the different needs. At the moment they have no staff to carry out activities/entertainment to motivate the residents which I think is important. All changes and plans need to be ongoing, not just for a few days. All queries are dealt with.
I have two friends who are residents at Parklands in Thorne. Their families are my friends also and I hear nothing but positive comments about the care their relatives are receiving. I have visited a few times now and have always been impressed by the friendly caring atmosphere that you can feel as you walk through the door. I'm also impressed by the cleanliness. In the reception area, they have all their planned events advertised on the wall. I have visited the home when they had a company there with a sort of petting zoo and I participated in their dog show held recently. Other events include trips out. I am told the food is excellent. I just wish I had realised how special the home is when we were looking for a home for my dad. Keep up the good work Parklands you are the role model to follow!
This is the best care home my dad has been in. The carers are brilliant. The home manager is very approachable and hands on. My dad's care is second to none. Best home out of the 4 he has been in. The food is excellent and rooms are homely and spotless.
Staff are very caring approachable and hard working. The home is warm cosy clean and comfortable. The food if good and plenty of choices. The entertainment and activities are excellent too. The maintainence man laundry and cleaning staff are all friendly and helpful. All in all parklands have helped us in what was a very very difficult decision in placing our mum in there easier. Keep up the good work.
Used the home for respite, he was very well cared for, the staff took time to find out his needs and how he would like to be cared for. Considering at home he doesn't want to do much, within the 2 weeks he went on a trip, won a quiz and made new friends. We were also worried about his weight loss but put on 4lb as he loved the food and came home with recipes he had got from the cook. I can't fault this home, patient and understanding staff who really care, a wonderful setting and you can really feel genuine warmth and happiness whilst in the home. Dad has booked himself in every month now for short breaks from one night up to 6 the manager supported us throughout.
I had a friend in Parklands who I visited, she always seemed happy and the staff were always busy making sure everyone was ok. The home has a lovely feel and it's clear that the staff care about the residents. The home was always clean and well presented. I asked the manager of I could bring my nan to Parklands for the afternoon, when I saw the George Formby tribute had been arranged. She loved it, as did all of the other residents, it was interactive, everyone singing, the staff dancing with the residents (who were able) Arranging things like this is important for the elderly as it brings fun and enjoyment to their day. Different people to talk to etc. My nan commented on how lovely the home was and how good the staff were. She had a lovely day.
I am satisfied with the care my mother receives at this home. The staff without exception are excellent and show great respect and love to mother. She enjoys the food generally, her bath/shower is loved by her and the cleanliness of the home is good. Obviously there are sometimes issues which i need to sort out i.e. bed making, sloppy- mother not dressed correctly. However this does not happen regularly. The manager is excellent and deals with any problems immediately. Nothing in life is perfect but this home is a happy place in which mother feels safe and content.
My grandma was in Parklands until she sadly passed away. She soon settled in, her room was very cosy. Lovely views over the park, the residents used to enjoy feeding the birds and the squirrels used to come to the bird table on a daily basis. the staff where all good at there jobs . They always keep them occupied with dominoes, bingo, cards and other activities which my grandma loved, she especially enjoyed the day trips she went on, and the pub lunches they went on. My grandma loved it when they used to have singers come in, was lovely to see all the residents joining in. One member off staff was excellent, so caring and dedicated to her job, she meant the world to my grandma. The home was very clean, lovely staff and residents, would defiantly recommend
My grandma settled in very well into Parklands which was a great relief to us as a family. All the staff are very kind and caring and clearly love the job they do. They did a fantastic job of looking after my grandma and made the family feel very welcome every time we visited,we went daily. The entertainment for the residents is second to none. Something was happening daily i.e. bingo, dominoes, crafts, and many day trips are organised too. I would like to thank all staff for their love and care and would highly recommend Parklands to others. Putting your loved ones into a home is one of the most difficult decisions you'll ever make but all staff were so supportive initially and throughout her stay. Thank you.
Mum only here for a few months but all the staff were excellent and caring. Mum was not keen on going into a care home but was welcomed and soon settled in.
My mother in law as been in this home for eighteen months and as been very well looked after and all here needs have been met. I would like to thank all staff and management for all their care day and night keep up the good work.
Putting my mother in Parklands has probably saved her life. She in ill health and is suffering from dementia. Her quality of life is much improved, she is happier. The staff are all caring, kind and understanding, which is hard as my mum is difficult at times. Right from the manager to the cleaners we now know them almost as a member of our family. We have already recommended Parklands to friends.
My brother is in the care home. He really likes it he says he gets good care. The food is really good.
