View Full Details of Rowena HouseMy mum was transferred from hosptial to Rowena House Care Home recently after being diagnosed with cancer. She also has dementia and alzheimers. I was feeling anxious about the change for mum but after her 1st day and night there I just knew this was the perfect forever home for her however long that may be. My mums said she isn't ever leaving there because she loves it. She loves the food, the staff and is the happiest I've seen her in a long time.
Mum has been here since June 2023, she has been treated with care and compassion since she arrived and we have consistently found the staff very nice and helpful. Our experience with the manager has been excellent. This home truly knows what a person-centred approach is. The premises might not be as shiny and new as some other homes but Mum has been in one of those before and this is a far better place that treats her like an individual with love which is all we ever wanted for her. She is involved in activities and day trips which is so important.
Care, treatment and support has been very effective. Staff are very compassionate and have involved the family in her care. The facility is well led. Some areas need modernising.
Mum has been in Rowena house seven and a half years and has always been happy there. Recently being in hospital and on return had to be put on end of life care. Staff been great with her. Attending to her every need, staff and management all friendly and hardworking.
All the staff at Rowena House do there upmost to care for all the residents and work tirelessly. We can call and visit any time, which is very reassuring. Mum is being looked after very well. The manager is so lovely and nothing is too much trouble. We cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work in looking after Mum. Thank you Rowena House.
My brother has been at the home approx four weeks and appears to be settling in very well. The staff are friendly, kind and caring and look after him very well. The meals are excellent, with a choice at each sitting. Although his room is small, it is very clean and suits his needs, but a larger room would be preferable. Activities are varied to suit residents with options for outings. We would recommend this home to other people.
I couldn't possibly praise this care home or staff enough. The care and compassion they put into their residents and visitors is second to none. On just walking around the care home, the residents are happy and jolly. The care home itself is clean clutter free with beautiful fresh-smelling flowers around. All staff are approachable and very understanding. There is always someone available to chat to about concerns. I am always made to feel so welcome by staff on each visit. Today, I attended the care home to do a dementia awareness course run by the home manager. This was her first time holding this course but you would never have guessed, she was amazing. Not only did she go through all the different kinds/types of dementia and the progression stages of it, she answered every question with great knowledge. I would encourage everyone to do this course because today I've walked away with a lot more than I thought I knew already. Rowena's care staff are an absolute credit to your company.
Just a huge thank you to all staff at Rowena House. Mum has dementia and recently had a fall that required surgery and spent a brief period in hospital. It then became quite obvious Mum could no longer be on her own. Rowena House took Mum in at short notice and it has been the best thing that could have happened. She has settled in really quickly and the staff are very welcoming, kind and considerate with regards to Mum's needs. Rowena House presents itself as clean, friendly and efficient. The manager is amazing and the staff are always approachable. Mum looks happy in her new environment and her family feel reassured with her progress. Again, thank you to all on the team!
I feel I have to write this review to thank everyone at Rowena House. My late father was there for over two years. He passed away in May 2023 and the care the manager and staff gave him was just outstanding. He wasn't good the last few months, but I knew when I wasn't with him that a friendly and compassionate staff member was there giving him laughter, love and respect. I became friends with all the staff and residents, as I visited everyday so I saw everything that was going on. It's the little things they do that make our loved ones feel special and, in my dad's last few days, the respect and love they gave to my dad, and my family, was outstanding. They didn't just care for my dad, they cared for me as well (always checking how I was doing, cups of tea and biscuits etc.). Some of the staff attended my dad's funeral and that was so lovely. I got to introduce them to my dad's sister, who lives away, she wanted to thank them for their outstanding care. So, thank you Rowena, you are all angels.
We have been very pleased with the care given to my sister, especially as she had to be taken in at very short notice. The staff were very welcoming. The home itself is clean, comfortable, bright and homely. She has settled extremely well and at last we know that she is now in a safe environment and with company.
I have the highest admiration for all staff at Rowena House. They work tirelessly to support these very vulnerable people. Everything is done with great care and with great humour and affection. I love my visits to see my dad and can rest easy knowing that he is getting the best care. The manager is amazing - fantastic with everyone. Thank you to everyone in the team!
I would like to praise the staff at Rowena House for the excellent care given to my mum, who has lived at the Rowena House for just over two years. She was looked after wonderfully, and all the staff there were kind and thoughtful. Mum had dementia and in the end, did not recognise me, but the most important thing is I recognised her. When a family member gets dementia, people often say they don't know who I am, but that does not matter because you know them! Remembering that fact helped me, and I visited as often as I could. All the staff at Rowena House are lovely, caring people and helped me when the end came for Mum. I cannot praise the staff enough. I am sending huge thanks to all there. I would recommend Rowena House to anyone who has a relative with Dementia; they are brilliant. Thank you once again.
My mum has been a resident at Rowena House for nearly four years. Over the last couple of years, the home and residents have benefitted from a period of stability regarding the leadership team at the home, despite the challenges that have been faced due to covid. Inevitably, there are occasional issues with personal items going missing and communication, but the manager and deputy manager, who is currently running the home are efficient in sorting out problems as far as possible. Staff members are welcoming and helpful and the activities organiser is creative in finding different ways to engage residents.
My father spent 12 months receiving unbelievable care, sympathy and love by all staff members at Rowena House. My family and I couldn't thank them enough and this place in my view is beyond highly recommend.
Just a little thank you to the staff at Rowena House for taking such wonderful care of my Grandad. Very grateful for you all and the work you do, Grandad seems very comfortable here, which makes us all happy.
My father is terminally ill, and I couldn't wish for better care for him. It's extremely reassuring that he has the best people looking after him. Every single member of the Rowena House team, whether they're new starters or established staff know about his continuing needs, how to make him smile, and look after him on a day-to-day basis. I'm continually informed of any changes to his care and medication. The home has a lovely atmosphere, and all residents receive as much care and respect as my father does. There's always something happening there, whether it's take your dog on a day, or Halloween. I cannot thank Rowena House enough.
My dad was cared for at Rowena in the last days of his life, I cannot praise every single one of them highly enough. Their professionalism is second to none. They arranged for his loved ones to be with him around the clock to say goodbyes, played him music and put family photos in his eye line so he felt at peace. They made him comfortable and maintained his hygiene in difficult circumstances even after he passed. Without Rowena my dad wouldn't have had the peaceful passing he did. Since his passing his brother remains at Rowena and the staff still ask my cousin after our welfare. Just today (August 2022 ) I had a video call with my cousin whilst my uncle was out in the local park, you could see the joy on his face, and this was a welcome boost during the grief process. The staff always have the resident's wellbeing first just like a care home should be
My mum is a respite resident in Rowena at present. The care that my mum is receiving is excellent. The staff at Rowena are very welcoming, pleasant and friendly. Rowena house is very clean and the room my mum has is spacious and comfortable for her. Our overall experience is brilliant and a welcome break for Dad. Thank you to all the staff at Rowena.
The care was top of the scale. The staff were sociable, always chatting. The meals were home from home.
My mother spent her last 18 months in Rowena House. She had Alzheimer's, could hardly walk and was double-incontinent. In all the time she was well cared for and happy. We were glad she was in comfortable surroundings with caring attentive staff to support her. She benefitted from the company of others in her last days, which is comforting to know now that she has passed away.
