View Full Details of Summerfield Residential HomeThe care staff are fantastic, not only with my mum but with me also. Some have really good banter with my mum which she loves. The home is lovely, there are 2 lounges, one quieter than the other if your family member wants some quiet time, plenty of dining room space and a beautiful garden. The meals are home made and plenty of variety. Very good kitchen staff. Resident's private rooms are cleaned every day.
Summerfield Residential Home made the whole experience of moving in as stress free and welcoming as possible for us all. My mum settled in so quickly, joining in the activities and really flourished, back to her old self. We couldn't believe the difference in such a short time. After looking round quite a few homes we really did make the right decision and that's reinforced every day with the care that my mum receives. Our aim was to find somewhere my mum would be safe and happy, but we got far more than that. Summerfield has a really homily feel, not just for the residents but the family and friends, always welcomed. Everyone is very friendly and approachable.
My Mum has been a resident at Summerfield Residential Home since March 2024. From the outset the staff have shown love, care and support both to Mum and also to us as a family, making the transition and stay as stress free as could be. Sadly, my Mum began to decline in health a few weeks ago and passed away a few days ago. During the last few weeks and final hours Mum was treated with dignity and respect and made as comfortable as possible. She was unable to leave her bed and was provided with a specialist mattress and frequently moved to prevent soreness. Staff also ensured she was checked in on and whenever we visited, it was clear that her sheets had been changed, labelled water provided and aids such as a specialist drinking cup. Mum had good relationships with the staff, and they spoke of her fondly, relaying funny things she had said. As a family we will always be grateful for the care she received at Summerfield and would highly recommend that they be recognised for the service they provide.
I would just like to show my appreciation at the amazing care and kindness of all the staff who helped us through the trauma of finding my dad a place at their amazing home. Especially two members of staff, coming to visit dad just after my mum died and going out of their way to get dad settled in and comfortable. Nothing has been too much trouble. It really does feel like a home with a lovely homely feel. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
My Aunt has been in Summerfield Residential Home since December 2023. We chose the Home because it was small and the staff are caring, friendly and very welcoming. She has a lovely room and says the food is very good with plenty of choice. There's lots of activities and entertainment going on on a daily basis keeping residents entertained. We are very happy with the home and it gives us the piece of mind knowing she is very well looked after.
My mother has been in this home for almost three years now. From the very beginning it was obvious that the standard of care was very good. My mother became rejuvenated and her general health recovered. The staff are all attentive and caring but combine this with a friendly, fun attitude. There are plenty of activities for my mother to enjoy should she wish including outings as well as indoor activities of various kinds. The wholesome home cooked food is also a feature here. Whenever we visit we are welcomed by staff and the residents treat the home as their home. Overall the staff are outstanding in their care & kindness towards residents. The atmosphere is always friendly. This is a real family home.
My very elderly mum-in-law suddenly found herself unable to cope at home and was sorely in need of more company and a warm safe place to meet her needs. Our research led us to Summerfield Residential Home, which fortunately had a room and even offered to come out and bring my mum in law from her home at very short notice. Once there, she settled in immediately and has had nothing but praise for the staff, the food and the level of care she is receiving. We fully expected the effect to wear off after a couple of weeks and that she would be asking to go home but that just hasn't happened, she loves the place. Having experienced three different care homes over the past five years, I am really impressed with the team at Summerfield, they obviously enjoy working there and it shows in the level of care and respect they show for their residents.
My sister-in-law has been a resident in Summerfield Residential Home for over 10 years and is extremely well looked after by friendly, caring and attentive staff who understand her personality and her needs. I have always been made welcome on my visits there and also receive a friendly greeting when I ring to speak with my sister-in-law. On the odd occasion that I have had to raise concerns, they have been listened to and acted upon, which to me, is the sign of good management.
This home is one in a million, I was welcomed in to have a look round, to see if it would be suitable for my Mum. It most certainly was. The home feels like a home not a care home. The staff are fantastic, they are always so friendly and smiling not just with us, but the residents and each other. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home, the lounges are nice and relaxing, with a calming beautiful garden. We were always welcomed in whatever time of day we turned up, the Staff go above and beyond when it came to the residents, they were there for my sum when I couldn't be and I'll always be grateful. It's truly a gem of a place.
My Dad moved into Summerfield a few years ago and Mum and I soon realised that, although it was a huge change for us all, this was a safe and caring environment where he could be looked after by people who were used to dealing with dementia. Dad settled quickly and the staff have treated him with respect and dignity from the beginning. The atmosphere is homely and comfortable rather than clinical and everyone is friendly and professional. It appears that the staff really do care about the residents and try to make their days a bit more varied with planned activities and visitors to entertain them. The food is varied and cooked on site and the home is accommodating and flexible around meal times. Sadly, Mum is no longer with us but I know that she would be happy to see that Dad is still being well cared for and we made the right decision placing him at Summerfield.
We transferred my mother in law here last year. We chose the home as it contrasted so much with the home she was sent by the hospital. The contrast was amazing. Summerfield Residential Home felt immediately welcoming, as if you are walking into a person's home. The residents all appear happy and the staff are everything you could hope for. The rooms are comfortable and most have great views of the garden or the valley. But it's the staff that make all the difference, they welcomed my mother in law like a long awaited guest, they say chatting with her in the dining room for a while, laughing and getting to know each other. When she fell ill and needed to go to hospital, they made sure she wasn't alone and accompanied her to be with her, even swapping over from each other as they helped her settle in. When we couldn't be there, they were, it was all very natural and very reassuring. When she passed, the compassion, assurance and help she received was above and beyond. I cannot recommend Summerfield enough
My dad moved into Summerfield Residential Home in August 2024 and it's been lovely to see how quickly he has settled in and how much he enjoys living there. Summerfield has such a lovely family atmosphere and is maintained to a very high standard. All of the staff are extremely professional, hard-working, kind and caring. It's certainly an exceptional care home, with such a fun friendly atmosphere, lots of enjoyable activities and entertainment on offer and the food served is to a very high standard, even down to supporting my Dad's specific dietary requirements. I'm so grateful to all of the staff for all they do and for going above and beyond with all aspects of his care.
The care all the staff provide is excellent. They are kind and considerate and treat my husband with dignity and they have a sense of humour. They listen to my concerns and always make sure they act on them. My husband is happy therefore I am happy. The food according to my husband is very good. He can have a cup of tea whenever he wants.
I came out of the hospital thinking that I could manage at home on my own but found it impossible. So I came to Summerfield Residental Home for respite care. The home was very welcoming and everyone greeted me with a smile. All of the staff are extremely pleasant and very hardworking. The care and consideration of every resident is paramount. I've really enjoyed my stay at Summerfield and would love the chance to stay again.
In a word 'fantastic!'. Whenever I visit, all the carers show care, compassion and dignity to my mum. The care home she should have been in from the beginning.
Mum has been a resident since June 2024 and has settled very well. We chose Summerfield because it was medium sized which suits Mum's dementia limitations and the decision was made within 5 minutes of meeting the staff. All staff are friendly, approachable and caring. There is always something happening, keeping residents stimulated with games, music, Bingo etc. We definitely made the correct choice.
My wife was looked after in Summerfield care home for the last 12 months of her life. She was well cared for by all the members of staff, I have to say that the staff looked after me too. I found it hard losing my beloved wife of 57 years, but the care from the staff has extended to me. I am lucky to have found Summerfield and have been returning weekly for lunch and hugs since her passing. All the staff have become friends and I could never thank them enough.
My mother has only been at Summerfield for a short time but the care and understanding have been second to none. Every member of staff I have met is lovely and caring and treats all residents as family. Mum loves the food which is made on-site and is all fresh and varied.
I chose Summerfield 20 months ago for my dad and have not regretted that decision. Summerfield has a warm, friendly, welcoming family atmosphere. All the staff, carers, domestic assistants, cooks etc are caring and have made the effort to get to know Dad. Despite well-publicised difficulties in this sector, there is a relatively low turnover which speaks volumes. Attention is constantly paid to updating facilities and decor, eg this year a new wet room to replace the old bathroom, new dining chairs and decor. If there is a problem it is quickly rectified. Overall Dad is happy and settled, likes the staff and is well cared for.
I visited a number of care homes before visiting Summerfield and none of them matched up to the friendly welcome, the comfortable environment and the accommodating, experienced staff I found there. I knew instantly that Mother would be well cared for and would settle in well - Mother has been there 5 months now and I was right, the staff have got to know her well, she has a lovely room and thoroughly enjoys 'people watching' as she calls it. She even joins in some of the activities which is a great relief to us as she had lost all interest, I put this down to staff encouragement. One important thing for us is being kept informed of how mum has been throughout the day and the staff always have a tale to tell when we visit, be it mum refusing a shower (she really dislikes them) or a funny comment she may have made. It's the little things like that that put our minds at ease, that shows us that mum can be herself and she feels safe and looked after.
