View Full Details of Sun WoodhouseMy friend moved into Sun Woodhouse on Monday, and when I took him there, he was in quite a low mood, and we weren't happy with the previous care home. The welcome from the staff was friendly and so personal. The first time I managed to visit was yesterday, and he looked fresh, clean, had had a haircut and was sat outside in the sunshine. He loves being out in the garden, and the staff and handyman spend time encouraging him to engage and stimulate him. He is already 80% better in mood and says the food is fabulous. The staff go above and beyond with me when visiting and with him, and can't do enough. The decor is airy and bright, and the rooms are a pleasure to spend time in.
My mother-in-law arrived at Sun Woodhouse after a lengthy stay in the hospital, she has dementia and is normally quiet and not very confident around people, but the staff are so caring and helpful; she was soon joining in with activities. Recently she has been quite unwell, and the staff were extremely responsive to her health needs when she needed urgent attention. I feel that the staff take time to speak with relatives and ensure that any concerns are dealt with in a kind and caring manner. The manager and her team were very approachable, with a cup of tea and a biscuit for a chat. I would not hesitate to recommend Sun Woodhouse to anyone looking for a care provider for a loved one.
Staff are rude to visitors. Carers doing cleaning jobs. Some staff are polite, most are not caring and are very rude. Half the time care staff are on the phone asleep or nowhere to be seen. I was made out to be bad because I covered up a resident who was exposed. I have just been shouted at by a jumped-up carer because I let myself out but I have to pick up people at work so haven't got time to wait for someone to let me out. The level of care if that's what you call it is disgusting. All I get told is it is in their care plan. They might have dementia but still deserve human contact, dignity and care. Wouldn't want anyone I love to be in there for long.
Both my parents are placed at Sun Woodhouse care home; my mother with dementia and my father is physically disabled. Sun Woodhouse caters for both and is of a very limited number of care homes that do. The staff are always friendly and obliging and go out of their way to assist. The manager is very approachable and goes above and beyond to help with not only their needs but also mine; excellent client/customer relationship - would highly recommend.
The staff here are amazing and have been extremely understanding of my Grandmas needs and requirements. I would highly recommend sending your loved ones here should you be unfortunate enough to end up having to care for a loved one with Dementia.
My mum arrived at Sun Woodhouse last September. Due to the Covid pandemic, I have been unable to see her until recently, and she has gone from a vulnerable, quiet, hidden away lady to a chatty, happy and smiling again. (I feel I have my mum back). I can’t thank the staff enough for all their help with my mum, and when I visit, they are always so polite and very welcoming. The home is clean and tidy, and my mum is always dressed well and she speaks very highly of the staff. She tells me about the lovely food and the activities she has done. The staff always go above and beyond to help. A lovely manager who is always willing to help. Thank you just doesn't seem enough for everything all the staff do.
Lovely, warm, caring and committed staff at Sun Woodhouse. They look after the residents as if they are their own families. Thank you for taking care of my mum so well. Knowing she is in your hands has taken a lot of worry off my shoulders.
Can not fault the staff or management - very happy with the care my mom is getting. It's a huge step for a family when a loved one needs full-time care, but from the start, the staff at Sun Woodhouse worked hard to understand Mum and her little ways and gain her trust. Knowing she was in their care helped me adapt to a new normal. Always a welcoming smile and the offer of a cup of tea at visits and no strict timescales if she needed us to stay awhile we could. Mum's health and well being is a priority, and it's clear to see the team are happy, professional and trustworthy. We landed very lucky finding Sun Woodhouse.
Very happy with my mother's care. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Shortly after my mother's arrival at the home, the manager asked my mother what was her favourite biscuits were; my mother said ginger nut, the manager went to the local shop and bought a packet, which I thought was going the extra mile in the present situation.
Once again, Sun Woodhouse has exceeded my expectations. When we were hit by the pandemic, my first thoughts were how could my mum get through this without seeing us. Needless to say, I didn’t need to worry; the home provided her with the extra love and care of not seeing us. They arranged regular video calls, and when allowed, accommodated window visits to also ensure our safety. I repeat myself when I say this, however, I honestly don’t know how we, as daughters, would get through this without Sun Woodhouse with the level of love and support they show my mum.
My mother entered Sun Woodhouse in early 2020 when her own home became temporarily uninhabitable. It was initially intended to be a respite placement, but as she settled well and her needs were clearly being met much better there, we made the decision to make the move permanent. Sun Woodhouse has caring, friendly staff and a homely atmosphere; it's very much a 'home from home.' The past year has been especially difficult with Covid, and even more so, as I live a great distance from Huddersfield and have been unable to visit very much. Knowing my mum has been kept safe and well cared for during this time has been a real help, and I have been grateful for regular updates from the care manager and other staff.
What a wonderful home. The manager is brilliant and the staff are fantastic. Their care for her is outstanding. She is always treated with respect and her needs are well met. I especially like the homely atmosphere. My mum is very happy in her home from home. I would highly recommend Sun Woodhouse and am very happy that we chose it for my mum.
