View Full Details of Tolson GrangeMy mum initially moved into Tolson Grange in September 2024 to convalesce after a fall. She quickly realised that the levels and quality of care that she received could not be replicated if she returned home, so she made the decision to stay permanently. She is very complimentary about the care staff and any minor issues she has experienced with her room or care have been addressed very quickly. I really appreciate the approachability and helpfulness of all the care, admin and management staff.
The staff at Tolson are exceptional, their caring, friendly attitudes make Tolson the place it is. There is a peaceful and often joyful atmosphere in the home. I couldn't think of a better place for my father to reside in his latter years. They settled Dad within the home with the minimum of fuss and went the extra mile to make sure Dad had all his familiar comforts so that Tolson quickly felt like his own home. The staff are always smiling and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. What an awesome team!
Only have experience of one month due to my relative's quite recent arrival at Tolson Grange. However, myself and family are very pleased with the staff, care, environment and rooms. Overall our experience has been very positive. There was a little hiccup with the cleaning of his room but this was addressed straight away and has been good ever since which was and is appreciated very much. My relative is beginning to settle in nicely and refers to his room as his place, which is nice to hear. We are so pleased we found Tolson Grange.
Mum recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Staff at the home were excited about this, and went above and beyond to help Mum prepare for the occasion. On the day, a concert was arranged for her, together with balloons, cake and candles, and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. Since moving there, Mum has developed good relationships with care staff, and their friendly manner and helpfulness have been much appreciated.
Dad has only been in the home a few weeks and the staff are amazing. Such a warm welcoming environment who don't only look after Dad but are so accommodating and welcoming to us as his family. The managers are informative and constantly keep me updated about Dad which is greatly appreciated. I cannot speak highly enough of the home and the staff. We are so happy and relieved we have made the right choice for Dad.
Tolson Grange has cared for my mother for over 10 years, during which her ability to do things and be involved has gradually deteriorated and she has for several years now needed 24/7 care. The staff at Tolson Grange should be commended for their care and interest in those who live there. Is everything perfect, of course not, that is not possible, but every effort is made to to make constant improvements and listen to those who live there and their relatives. The priority must be care, cleanliness and an environment which stimulates to offer as much happiness as possible and this has been achieved.
Mum has been in the care of Tolson Grange for just over 12 months. The transition hasn't been an easy one for us. Having to make the decision that we couldn't give her the care she needed was very hard. The staff at the Grange have been fantastic. Any concerns we have had have been answered pretty quickly, and most problems solved. The entertainment has the residents smiling and joining in. There is laughter, tea, and of course cakes! Always a hand being held, hugs and reassurance (and that's also for us). We wouldn't have her anywhere else. Thank you to all the staff at Tolson Grange.
I continue to feel satisfied and confident in the care that Tolson Grange provides for my Mum. I visit twice weekly and always find the staff to be caring and patient regardless of the situation. They go the extra mile to ensure residents are happy and safe. The accommodation is clean and well-kept, with shared areas often decorated to reflect current events. There are lots of food options and regular entertainment of various kinds. I feel very fortunate to have found somewhere where my Mum feels safe and contented.
When I first visited and enquired at Tolson Grange, I knew within the first minute it was right for Mum. Safe to say she didn't want to go and a stressful time for us all. But on the first day the staff were waiting at 2 pm and welcoming, with various lunch options waiting for her including roast pork dinner! This gave us time to move her furniture from home. By the time we had finished moving her in at 5.30 pm she had the biggest smile on her face, declaring 5-star food, 5-star staff, and her room/apartment wonderful. Since then I have only experienced the care and dedication and helpfulness of all the staff, and the regular activities and friendships Mum has made in 6 months. Thank you.
My mum has been in Tolson Grange since the beginning of June this year (2024). The care home is well run and the staff are mostly helpful and caring. I'm also told by my mum that the food and entertainment/activities are very good. I'm very pleased with the care my mum is receiving and so thankful that I found this place. It's a difficult decision to put one of your parents in a care home when the time comes and the team at Tolson Grange have made that a whole lot easier. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
My sister has been at Tolson Grange for over 12 months. She is in need of 24/7 care and has difficulty walking. The staff have been excellent with her despite her issues with dementia they are very patient. They also are very welcoming when I visit. The food seems excellent as my sister has put on quite a few pounds. They also offer me drinks and refreshments when I visit which makes it feel homely for the residents and puts my mind at ease.
My dad moved here in March of this year, and it is the perfect place for him and he is very happy here. The home is spotlessly clean, the meals are excellent, and the staff are very friendly and caring. There is always a program of activities to entertain the residents with happy and friendly staff to aid them. Excellent care home.
My husband has been a resident at Tolson Grange for three months now and our family is very happy with his care. The staff are kind and attentive and he is very happy in his new surroundings. We are always made welcome when we visit. There is a good choice of food and he enjoys the frequent supply of tea and biscuits! Whilst he is not able to do activities by himself the staff make sure he can join in, where possible, with the daily activities and enjoy the visiting entertainers.
Overall the facilities and care are excellent. All the staff are caring and very helpful to all the residents. They have a very difficult job to do with such a diverse type of residents needing different types of care which they manage so well. As for activities, it is difficult for the staff to organise different things as they are kept busy. Perhaps it might be useful to find out what other care homes organise for their residents such as talking to organised companies who supply visits of different types of animals to care homes.
My mum has been in Tolson for over a year now and I’m really pleased with how she has improved with her general health and mobility. The care team are always around if there is anything to discuss, the food is excellent, plenty of variety. The manager and her admin staff are always on hand to help with any information or paperwork I’m stuck with. Always with a smile. The entertainment is fabulous and lots of activities for anyone who wishes. The room is kept lovely and clean by the domestic staff.
Our wife/mum moved into Tolson last June. It was a traumatic time for mum, dad and us all as a family but I can honestly say that everyone at Tolson was so understanding and helpful. You have all been amazing and I have never known such caring and compassion in one place. Mum is mostly settled now and we can sleep easy knowing that that she is in the best home ever. You hear so many horror stories about some care homes that it does become such a worry finding the right one. Well we have certainly found it, you are all lovely and we as a family couldn’t be more grateful for what you do. Tolson is always spotlessly clean and bright. There are lots of activities and entertainment and the weekly visit from the nursery children seems to be loved by all. Mum loves the garden in summer and I believe it’s having a makeover this year which will be great, just need the weather now. Mum has made friends both with residents and staff and we have too. Thank you Tolson.
My mother who is in her 90’s and suffers from dementia, moved into Tolson Grange just before Christmas 2023. She was made welcome from the moment she arrived and settled into her new life at Tolson very quickly. This was due to the warm, caring and loving attitude of the staff. She has been encouraged to join in the many activities and events and especially enjoys anything to do with music, singing and dancing. I too have been made very welcome when visiting Mum and have found the management and staff extremely helpful. My impression is that the staff work well as individuals and together as a team in a very demanding environment. It was a difficult decision moving mum from her own home to residential care and we have no regrets about choosing Tolson Grange.
My mother has been at Tolson Grange for just over a year and my husband and I have been well satisfied with the standard of care that she has received. Tolson Grange is smart and clean, but just as importantly the staff demonstrated warmth and friendliness. Over the last 14 months, our initial impressions have been proven to be correct as we have been favourably impressed with the consistency of care and consideration shown to my mother, by everyone at Tolson Grange. The Management and Staff are always ready to discuss any concerns that we may have, to agree any actions required and to ensure that these are implemented without delay. There is a real sense of community with the management and staff working as a team with the residents to create a family atmosphere. Residents can take part in a wide range of activities that are provided every day in the communal rooms and they also really enjoy the visits made by singers and entertainers who visit the care home.
Most carers are exceptionally kind and skilled and Mum is in good hands and her needs are generally well met. This is the most important thing and they are great. They’re also usually kind to us as family. We struggle to remember all their names - they don’t wear name badges and the photo board in reception is out of date. We are welcome to visit any time except mealtimes which is understandable but makes it difficult to visit during a work lunch break or on the way home from work/after school as each meal is 90 minutes. We sometimes feel we are an inconvenience to management and admin staff when we need information or have information to give, or need to be let in or out. There isn’t an efficient way of communicating with team leaders unless we speak to them if they are free when we are there. Facilities are adequate but not luxurious, which is fine for us but some repairs take a long time. General cleanliness is good but we sometimes need to clean Mum’s toilet and bathroom ourselves.
Mum had been in Tolson Grange Care home for two and a half years until she passed away peacefully in her sleep on the 5th March 2024. The care that Mum received in the home was second to none, she was extremely happy she loved the staff and they loved and looked after her really well. The staff are a great team and work together doing their utmost best to provide care and support to all the residents. The entertainers and activities that they provide are brilliant my Mum loved dancing and looked forward to the monthly singers. Mum loved children and the weekly visits from the nursery were the highlight of the week for her. Thank you to the management and staff for the love and care that she received during her time at Tolson Grange I would highly recommend this care home to anyone.
