I intended to keep my mother at home as long as I possibly could but had to place her in a care home due to unforeseen circumstances. I can say 100% that since my mum has entered Oakhaven she has thrived. The staff are exceptional, and the level of care so good I almost feel like she has been left with family. My mum has great company, fantastic stimulation thanks to a brilliant entertainment programme and a lovely clean room and sitting area. The staff are attentive and really engaged with the residents. I have no hesitation to recommend Oakhaven.
Really pleased with the home. A truly caring environment. They do their best to make it feel homely and not an institution. My mum has been there for 3 years and is very happy there. We have complete confidence in the care she receives.
My mother has been a resident at Oakhaven for almost two and a half years. She is physically unable to look after herself though generally in good health and has no mental impairment. She has settled into Oakhaven very well and is happy and well cared for. The staff are kind, thoughtful and professional and take good care of her. There is a good range of activities for the residents and the manager is constantly thinking of new ideas. Whenever I visit (which has not been for a while of course just now) the staff are welcoming and cheerful and when I phone they make great efforts to give Mum and I a good chance of a chat. I am certain that my mother is safe and happy at Oakhaven and I have no hesitation in recommending the home.
From our first contact with the home manager, we were reassured and impressed. Our relative had lots of medical and mental health issues, which concerned us, however, our concern was very quickly relieved by the professionalism of the entire setup and term, even with the additional covid situation. We couldn’t have made a better choice. We were amazed and delighted how quickly our relative settled, how his complicated requirements were met and dealt with. My husband and I couldn’t give this care home a better review, it’s been outstanding.
My mother has been in the home for some time now and suffers from dementia. During this time I have found the priority within the home to be one of care and compassion. One of the lovely things about the place is the consistency of the staff, some of which have been there a long time. This consistency certainly shows in the way the warmth is reciprocated between resident and staff members. The home is cosy and it doesn’t have lots of residents. This means that I have always taken comfort in knowing my mum is not being forgotten about. The current manager always seems to have the best interest of the individuals at heart and actively engages with me around developments and activities. They have responded positively towards the covid situation and I can’t thank them enough for keeping my mum safe.
We are very happy with Oakhaven and the care our mum is receiving. Staff are all very friendly and helpful and management are brilliant at keeping us up to date with news and anything we need to know. Very organised and dealt with covid regarding visiting in the pod really well.
Very welcoming and caring atmosphere. All members of staff are of a high standard and go the extra mile with excellent Covid management. Keep relatives well informed on a regular basis which gives reassurance particularly under the present Covid conditions.
Dad was moved to Oakhaven from a CIC bed in January 2021 as a temporary placement. Obviously, due to Covid restrictions, choosing a suitable home was so difficult. We were fortunate to be led to this home and we are really pleased and relieved with how Dad has settled here. The manager and staff have been so kind and caring as well as efficient and well organised. We have not yet been able to enter the home but have been able to visit Dad in their visitor pod to gain a feel for the home and see that Dad is settling here.
Mum has been at Oakhaven since she fell 2 years ago. It is a delightfully friendly little home and very importantly because it's a cosy home, they seem to have the same staff all the time. I think this is really important for elderly people who can easily get confused over constant staff changes. The staff appear to care very much for the residents and given that mum has Alzheimer's, she doesn't complain at all about the team (only about the weather and the programmes on tv etc.). The manager seems to be in firm control of the running of the home and she inspires a sort of confidence that everything that needs to be taken care of, will be dealt with. This originally was not my first choice of home for mum but having seen mum there for a while now and more importantly talking to some of my contemporaries, who also have elderly parents and hearing their (horror) stories (of other homes), I believe this choice was quite serendipitous. Most importantly, mum is happy here.
Unfortunately not able to make much comment, as not been able to visit inside the home due to Covid. The manager and staff are so helpful given the difficult circumstances they are undergoing at present time. My Mum says the girls look after her so well, couldn't ask for more.
