View Full Details of Walton ManorMy dad went into Walton Manor when Mum had a fall. He has dementia and cannot cope on his own. The staff were amazing, helping him to settle in. He is now there permanently and is so much more content than when he lived at home. He has much more social contact as well as activities available. The staff pick up much quicker if he gets a water infection but he now drinks more so we have less issues. Overall Dad is in better health and more content now at Walton Manor. The staff are very friendly and caring. We are delighted with his care.
I visited Walton Manor last year with a friend to see her mother. On first impression was very good, felt warm, friendly with attentive caring staff. Most of the residents doing armchair exercises to music. The lady in charge was very attentive and extremely lovely with the residents and they were laughing and really enjoying it. As a visitor the staff were very welcoming and I felt my friend's mum was very well cared for.
My dad has received such lovely care over the years he has lived at Walton Manor but especially recently when he hasn't been in good health. The staff are caring, patient, understanding, and always find time for a chat with Dad which is really heartening as he spends a great deal of time by himself. He feels safe, cared for, and content in his home. Thank you to the wonderful Manor team.
All the staff have shown genuine care for my dad. They take time to build relationships and show concern for his wellbeing. The manager has always been happy to discuss any concerns we have had and worked in partnership to identify appropriate solutions. The home is well furnished and has a lovely garden where we can sit. Dad is very comfortable in his room. Dad enjoys the food. I have already recommended the home to other people.
My mum had a 3-week respite care at Walton Manor. She was apprehensive as all she could remember was her mum going in a home in the 1970s. How different was this going to be? Mum enjoyed her stay and was sad when it came to an end and would be very happy to revisit her friends occasionally, to revisit for more respite (when needed) and when living at home becomes too much, will be very happy to become a permanent resident in the future. She loved the carers, the residents, the social activities, and just the fact that she can talk all day long! A marvellous experience for her both now and hopefully in the future.
Dad was a resident at Walton Manor for 21 months. He was well cared for and well-fed. (He enjoyed his food). The management team and the staff knew him and our family well and he was treated as an individual and with respect at all times. The accommodation was upgraded with as little disruption to the residents as possible while he lived there and the garden is accessible and well-maintained. He loved that space. There are organised activities for the residents to join several times a week, but sometimes it's difficult for the staff to balance one resident's care requirements with another's need for support to access the activity. Where family members can visit regularly and support such things, they are welcomed and included as part of the Walton Manor community. Of course, there were hiccups, niggles and the occasional issue, but every member of staff was prepared to listen and work towards a mutually acceptable solution. In Dad's last few weeks at Walton Manor, care was exemplary.
The staff were very caring and helpful. Excellent staff just the home very busy with people with dementia. The home is lovely and very welcoming. The staff clearly care and are extremely helpful nothing is too much trouble for them.
My Mum has been a resident now at Walton Manor for almost 4 years and through that time we have seen lots of changes, the home has gone through a major refurbishment, with very little disruption for the residents, which is no mean feat! The management have rebuilt a lovely care team and very little agency have to be used. The carers, domestic and kitchen staff are always so cheerful and happy and literally nothing is too much trouble to ensure my Mum is well looked after and her needs are met. The management team are very hands-on and willing to listen, very approachable. It gives me great peace of mind to know Mum is here and as a family, we treat Walton Manor as home from home - just how it should be. Thank you to everyone at Walton Manor.
An excellent home for those who you love and want to be really cared for in their later years of life. Spotless, very comfortable, great friendly staff, beautiful surroundings, very easy to travel to. My mum is a resident here and although she has ongoing dementia she is very settled here. The suite she is in is excellent and reminds my mum of the caravan she used to have. The main care staff are very approachable and friendly. The management are also approachable and willing to discuss anything that is required. Yes, it is a little costly but seeing my mum settled and happy is worth it.
My lovely mum settled in quickly and made friends and experienced wonderful care. She particularly enjoyed the uplifting gardens and the fun and thoughtful activities from the staff and helpers alike. (Particularly during Covid). Towards the end, the staff offered both my mum and me wonderful support and care, which I will never forget. Thank you so much.
My dad had a great two weeks of respite care here at Walton Manor. All the staff are very pleasant and friendly. He enjoyed his time here. Thank you for looking after him so well. Would use again when my mum needs a break from his care at home.
Staff friendly. Disappointing that agency staff are used. The building needs decorating and carpets cleaned. Staff seemed stressed a lot of the time although tried their best. Appears to be a lack of management support. Covid guidelines not always followed whilst home in lockdown. Hot meals always cold although nicely presented. Care plans not always followed. Disappointing home for rating.
Moving a client from one care home to another is a very difficult decision to make as you literally have their wellbeing in your hands. Walton Manor and all the lovely caring staff took away the worry. Walton Manor is a caring and compassionate care home set in beautiful grounds. The private rooms are very well presented and the whole feel of the care home makes you feel welcome with all the staff extremely friendly, helpful and caring with all the residents and visitors alike. There is a very good activity programme. Residents have access to the lovely grounds and it is always an enjoyable experience when visiting. Can I congratulate the manager and her wonderful staff for providing such good care in the lovely surroundings of Walton Manor.
The secret of success is remembering and respecting the fact that the people who work for us are our most valuable asset, this is certainly the case at Walton Manor and is reflected in the exceptional standards of care and services provided by the various staffing groups to both residents and visitors to this home. My two weeks stay at Walton Manor in March 2021 was for respite care while my family moved our home from North Lincolnshire back to Wakefield. I wanted to be involved in the move from our home, which I was reluctant to leave. However, due to my physical limitations, staying in this house was not an option. The staff at Walton Manor empathised with the issues that I faced and helped me to adapt in a positive way to my new situation. This experience was not limited to my interactions with the carers but also the contact I had with other staff groups that make up the overall team. As my stay came to an end, part of me was sad to leave Walton Manor as the staff are now my friends.
The home is situated within a desirable residential area on the outskirts of Wakefield. It has all sensations of a gracious building, it sits in extensive well maintained lovely grounds. The Manor has been extensively extended and adapted to provide excellent accommodation for its residents, it includes excellent private rooms with en-suite and also has some large apartments with kitchenette and living room. The staff are excellent at getting on and providing every need of ours, they do so with dignity and assurance together and with laughter which is an essential requirement. The management team do a remarkable job looking after us and collecting the information required every day to provide us with the very best care. They work very hard and offer gracious involvement. All staff are professional, highly committed and hard-working promoting and understanding the needs of all us residents. I have a happy, relaxed and confidential life here.
Walton Manor is truly a very special place with a fantastic and thoroughly well-deserved reputation within the locality. Where the staff are concerned, nothing is ever too much trouble either for the residents of the resident's relatives. The building offers a level of yesteryear elegance yet with a homely atmosphere in which comfort and care are combined with dignity and the opportunity for gracious living. I consider myself really blessed to have been able to find a place for my mother in this home where she was looked after in comfort and with the utmost care. Staff often and regularly went the extra mile to cater to her whims and idiosyncrasies... and did their very best at all times to facilitate both her needs and wants. They showed patience and kindness even on those occasions when it would have been much easier to do otherwise. I cannot speak too highly of this care home and can recommend it without reservation to anyone considering such a place for either their own needs or the needs of a relative.
On arrival on the 9th August 2017 after lunch had taken place, I was given lunch and shown to my room. I found generally the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. The staff are helpful and friendly. The meals with a good choice of menu. All the rooms are cleaned on a regular basis. There are no regulations and residents are able to do as they please. Entertainment is provided. My stay of over 2 years was pleasant and enjoyable and can recommend Walton Manor as a happy place to stay.
Walton Manor really is a home from home, the surroundings are beautiful. The interior is very inviting, and the staff are very welcoming and caring. In the 15 months, I have been visiting Mother I have nothing but admiration for the wonderful staff. In my mothers final weeks, they kept me updated on all her medical and hospital needs, and very supportive in her final hours of life.
My Mum and I carefully chose this care home for my Dad after visiting a number locally but this came out tops. He had a large lovely room overlooking the gardens which were very well maintained. I was very impressed with the quality of care he received throughout his tenure there. They were always friendly and attended to his needs promptly whenever this was required. The residents also were an important factor and my Dad very much enjoyed sitting in the conservatory in his special wheelchair listening to the various conversations and banter amongst them. I have to also mention the quality of the food at Walton Manor. Excellent! My Dad always enjoyed his Sunday roast and home made sponge and custard! Sadly my Dad passed away at hospital in February after a short illness but I think he would have wanted me to write this review to thank everybody there for all their help and kindness. Very much appreciated.
Was well looked after. Staff lovely. Enjoyed my stay.
