View Full Details of Allendale HouseMy mum was a resident of Allendale House for a few days in April 2023 as she was reaching the end of her life. Deciding that it was time for Mum to be cared for professionally was a heartbreaking decision. The first evening, after Mum was admitted, was awful as I couldn't come to terms with it. What I realised was the best way for my mum to have comfort in her final days was for her to be surrounded by people who cared for her. At Allendale the staff delivered that, I saw time and time again how they cared for my mum and they gave her support and dignity as she neared the end. I was thankful because I no longer felt guilty about the decision, I knew I had made the right call for my mum. It's really hard to put into words how it feels when you know people are being kind to your loved one, and how it helps you when you're dealing with having your mum reach the end of their life. It just made it easier for me. My broken heart is thankful to everyone at Allendale.
I have found the staff at Allendale House more than helpful. They are kind, considerate, and professional. They give the home a friendly and personal touch putting residents at ease and have made me feel very comfortable and at ease when visiting my mother. The staff make the residents feel at home and take time to make sure the residents are looked after lovingly whilst keeping a professional attitude at all times. The staff go out of their way to help residents carry out hobbies and incorporate routines into the residents' day to keep the home running efficiently and effectively.
My mother was a resident from October 2018 until 30th January 2021. Allendale is a small home compared to some and this has many benefits. The staff are in close contact with all the residents and are able to attend to their demands and needs quickly. I have never seen such care, dedication and hard work from a small team of people. The manager and her team have kept all the residents safe during this Covid Pandemic and this is due to the care and diligence of all staff. I have previously managed a large staff however I have never seen such hard work from a bunch of people. People don't recognise the commitment of staff working in the sector. The manager arranged for secure visits to take place in line with the guidelines over the past year. Mum was 100 on the 18th January 2021, sadly we could not hold the planned celebration with the family. We cannot thank the Allendale team enough so mother could celebrate in the home. She became a radio/TV star and we have so many special memories.
Early last year I broke my femur and spent 7 weeks at Allendale House as I wasn’t allowed to weight bear. I knew nothing about being in a care home so was very worried, but I needn’t have been concerned. From the owner down I had the most caring, kind and comfortable time spent there. I always felt completely safe in the environment. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My room was very comfortable, warm and homely. The food was amazing and all home-cooked. I was thoroughly spoiled. I can recommend this wonderful care home to relatives having to make the difficult decision to put their loved one into this care home.
Care provided for my mother over the past 5 years in Allendale has been good. However, following management changes in the past year or so, the care has been excellent including as my mother's condition has worsened. All the staff are great and I cannot see how the care could have been better. The home 'feels' welcoming and it has been great that we have had no concerns at all over my mother's care. Especially when problems at other homes, etc are shown on tv, etc. Please understand that my ratings below are truly accurate and reflect the experience of my mother at Allendale House.
