My mother went from hospital to Holyrood House awaiting home care package. The staff were so kind and caring. My mother loved the food. Thanks to everyone there she has gained weight and mobility and has now returned to her own home in good health. I cant thank everyone enough!
My mam has just returned from a weeks respite. I would highly recommend this care home, the staff are lovely and very caring. My dad and I care for my mam every day, I haven't had a day off in two years because I didn't want my mam going to a carehome. My mam's social worker said about respite for a week, I'm so glad that I did and couldn't have picked a better home.
We specifically mentioned that father-in-law would not come out of his room, very private 92 year old. He was placed on the first floor in a room with no window to look out of, facing a wall with nothing on it, ie no pictures, clock, nothing on any of the walls. We had requested a tv, this did not work. Father-in-law was only in respite for one week. He does not have dementia or Alzheimer’s. We checked the remote on the tv and there were no batteries in it. He had visits from two separate un-related people and both commented what a dump, and “ how come he got no view/window or anything to look at”. He had attempted to wash his clothes and they were hung about the room, one visitor took the clothes home. Both visitors could not get the tv to work. The room was dismal, drab and unwelcoming. We don’t expect a palace, just a nice cosy room with a window. I cannot comment on the actual care because of course, we were not there.
My mum was recently a resident in this care home and lived there for 5 years. My siblings and I visited our mum at different times throughout the day and sometimes even early evening and we were always welcomed. Throughout mum's stay, she was always cared for with dignity, respect and compassion. The staff truly made the home. She was always clean and well looked after. We couldn't have found a nicer home for our mum to be in.
