View Full Details of The Hollies - Care HomeMum has increasingly complex needs due to her dementia. Although it is early days we have seen the care, support and kindness of the staff to Mum and the family to be of a high standard, which has given us confidence that Mum will settle after experiencing four homes over just two months. All of the staff we have met from the gardener/maintenance and catering to the carers and administrators have made mum and the family feel welcome and they are determined to ensure that mum's care plan reflects her particular needs. We are very grateful to the home and the recently completed refurbishment is an added bonus. We are unable to comment on activities as we have had limited experience due to the short time mum has been in the home. She has enjoyed dancing to Elvis and being taken to Church.
I cannot praise this place enough, Mum has been there for two years now and the care she has received has been exemplary in all ways. All the staff are so caring, friendly and very professional and keep us well informed. We visit regularly and it is always immaculately clean and well-presented, we are always welcomed and they do a sterling job. Every member of staff has her interests at heart and does all they can to make her feel comfortable and safe. Thank you all for looking after our mum.
Mum needed to go into a care home as she waited for a care package. This took 9 months and staff have been very helpful and supportive throughout her time there. They even helped us take her on a caravan holiday with her husband during the summer. What an excellent care home. Warm and friendly atmosphere.
My husband has been in Hollies for a couple of months now and has settled in well, all the staff stand out to me as they are absolutely wonderful, friendly, showing love, and compassion whilst reminding professional, showing him dignity and respect. The building itself is always immaculate, always feels warm and welcoming. The gardens look super and always change with the seasons. Meal times are well catered for, and snacks and drinks are on offer too. The staff keep us well informed and update us with treatments etc.
My Mum is a resident of The Hollies. She suffers from dementia and went into The Hollies in July 2021. For many of us, this isn't the ideal solution, and it is a difficult and emotional situation to be in. But the staff at The Hollies now feel like our extended family and have looked after Mum so well. It has been such a positive, loving experience that my Mum and I have received and Mum is so happy. The staff are very caring, and these are difficult times with Covid-19. If there was a constructive comment I could make, it would be if any activities were open to families, they could be emailed in advance so that we had plenty of notice, in case we need to take time off work. Also, perhaps a quarterly newsletter emailed to families. Thank you so much for the work that you all do.
My father went to the Hollies in Dec 2020. He had Parkinsons and related Dementia, including Lewy Body syndrome. At first he fought being there, he was confused and wondered what he had done wrong. He was a handful for the staff. Over time, the carers won him over with their kindness. Sadly Dad passed away on the 6th July. At his funeral, there were three staff from the home and they were the first people to get a hug from me. I cannot thank them enough for how they cared for Dad and for the family, as we sat with him. They even turned his bed in the room so that we could be with him, they brought a sofa and at least one family member was with him all of the time leading up to his passing. There are so many people we would like to thank.
My mother has been a resident of the Hollies for a while and with myself living and working abroad it's a great relief to know that my mum is in good hands. The staff are caring and professional in keeping me up to date and are willing to go the extra mile in trying to make my mother's stay as comfortable as possible. Although my mum is suffering from loss of memory, it's clear that the staff are trying to include Mum, wherever possible, to give her the best quality of life and for that, I am grateful. I don't usually write reviews but on this occasion, I think all the staff deserve 5 stars. Thanks to you all, for caring.
If you want your loved ones to be well cared for, do not put them in this home! My husband was a resident at this facility. He died in June 2020. I wished I had never put him in there. He was taken into hospital in May 2020, it took them three weeks to ring the hospital to find out where he was. They only bothered to phone the hospital when his care allowance had stopped. Not one person from the home attempted to ring me and offer any condolences. My husband was not looked after properly.
Excellent service, nothing is too much trouble for this team. The resident's needs come first and all staff are approachable and have residents best interests at the forefront of care given.
