View Full Details of Overton House - Care HomeI am more than happy for all the care that is given to my mum. All the staff are always so helpful and nothing is too much trouble, they are brilliant. Mum has been in the home for nearly two years and is very happy. She loves to join in with all the activities that the home provides which keeps her stimulated. Mum is content and feels much safer now she lives in the home and we as a family are so grateful she is well looked after. A big thank you to all your dedicated staff.
I visited my friend's mum yesterday. Upon arrival until I left the atmosphere in the home was lovely. All the staff are very happy, friendly and attentive. I spoke to the lady at the reception who was very welcoming and really seemed to care about the residents. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend Overton House, all the staff are a credit to the manager who is also dedicated to the home and its residents.
I visit a long-time friend of mine on a regular basis and, whilst it pains me greatly to see the manner in which his condition has treated him, the support and understanding of the friendly staff have proved invaluable. Despite the challenging circumstances at times, the care staff address changing circumstances without fuss and with a smile. Reception staff are always welcoming and, though you would imagine their role as largely administrative, they are clearly very familiar with the residents and take time to know them.
My dad has been at Overton House for almost 3 years now. At first we were in the midst of covid and it was difficult, but the staff put procedures in place for visiting, sensitive to their residents' needs. The manager maintains a consistent team and the staff are all very pleasant and friendly and have a good relationship with my dad. The carers seem particularly popular with him, but all we've had contact with have been great and do sterling work with all the residents in my opinion. Staff member on reception, is very efficient and helpful and if she doesn't know the information we require, she will find out and relay it. Dementia is indiscriminate and cruel but all the team seem to enjoy their work and supporting us family members with their continued care and kindness which I feel must be difficult at times. Thank you to all the team.
My husband has been in Overton House since early April 2024. He has Alzheimer's and challenging behaviour. I realised that I was not going to be able to look after him at home for much longer and started looking at care homes. I felt comfortable and welcomed at Overton from the first visit but there were no vacancies. In the meantime, things deteriorated and my husband had to go into care in another home as an emergency. As soon as a vacancy became available he was moved to Overton. This is a lovely home-from-home, the staff are caring and attentive, and they make you feel welcome. They have had to deal with my husband's challenging behaviour and they do it all with a smile on their faces. My husband is starting to settle down somewhat now and I feel that he is in safe and capable hands. The building it is roomy and airy and pleasant to be in, with a family atmosphere around the place. The staff work so hard, I can only applaud them for their hard work and tenacity. Thank you.
After looking into many care home reviews in the area I was fortunate enough to be able to book a place at Overton House in Cottingham for my sister-in-law, aged 91 and in the early stages of dementia. She has also spent quite a few years confined to a wheelchair, falling regularly and in and out of hospital, very depressed and having lost her notorious happy nature. Within 2 weeks there has been a tremendous change having regained her cheerful attitude and with the help of the staff walking a few metres and taking part in activities such as baking with the staff who are very friendly and helpful and there is always plenty on duty. This is my first encounter with a care home for a member of the family and the manager and staff have been so helpful. We are also encouraged to personalise her room so looking forward to adding a few extras of her choice.
Mum has been at Overton for about 4 years, and after some initial hiccups as to be expected, Mum settled well, although now not able to mobilise without hoisting and wheelchair the staff is wonderful they explain exactly what they are doing for Mum so she is aware of what is happening to her and gives her reassurance, she always gives them a smile which tells me she is ok with this. The home keeps me and my brother informed of what is happening regarding Mum's care. The manager and staff do a brilliant job and I know Mum is in good hands, they all deserve a medal (and a pay rise) for the work they do in caring for the residents.
My mother-in-law through her Alzheimer’s was very difficult in her own home however once she had adjusted to her new surroundings and with the help of all the staff she became more relaxed and enjoyed the company of others around her. My husband and I found from our very first visit, to take a look around the home, that the staff went out of their way to help and accommodate all of my mother-in-law's needs and everyone always spoke to us. This was the same throughout the 3 years she spent at Overton and even now after her passing they still welcome us. They celebrate all festivals and special occasions and engage residents in crafts, baking etc. Afternoon teas, Coronation day party. Everyone works hard for all their residents and we really appreciated this.
Living in Elloughton, my Mum was some 60 miles away in Leeds and suffering from advanced dementia and unable to properly look after herself. It was clearly evident the only solution was to bring her over to East Yorkshire where she could be looked after properly. After looking at a number of care homes it was clearly evident that Overton House was our first choice. Right from the first time we visited, the manager and the staff made us very welcome and showed us around the excellent facilities that were in place. My Mum received first-class caring care from all the staff, nothing was too much bother, and she was made welcome from the first day she arrived. The food provided was of good quality, and the staff ensured she received her medication daily. My mum was treated with dignity at all times and her personal welfare was a priority at all times. We have been kept up to date at all times regarding her health, and staff make us welcome whatever time of day we visit.
My mother has been in Overton House now since January 2020 and we have been very grateful to all the staff who go out of their way to help her. I live in Peterborough, and it is reassuring to know that the manager and her team are always willing to let me speak to her on the phone in between visits. The Reception Staff are first rate. We are very lucky to have got her in to Overton House when she can get the best of care for her condition.
Treat my mum really well and she seems happy. Lovely staff. All needs seem to be taken care of. Quite responsive to queries. Medical needs taken care of. Home is quite clean. Visits are easy. Thank you for looking after her.
My mum has been at Overton for around three years now. She has always been well cared for and seems happy. The staff are always friendly and look after her very well. The team have given her excellent care and always keeps us updated on any health problems.
The staff are all friendly, polite and helpful. The receptionists are very attentive and help in any way they can. They will always answer any questions and queries - nothing is ever too much for them. I feel the residents are safe and always look clean and tidy.
My mother has severe incapacitating dementia and is totally reliant on the care and welfare provided by the brilliant staff. I fully trust them to continue to provide what is turning into end of life care. Thank you for all you have done for her in the last ten years.
Very friendly and attentive staff. As a visitor I always feel welcomed. I have no doubt that my grandma is in safe and capable hands. They also provide regular entertainment for the residents, and host numerous raffles that I will one day win. Mark my words.
I pick my friend up on a regular basis and take him out for a few hours. I have always been pleased with the care and attention my friend receives from all of the staff. He appears to have settled well and is well looked after. Staff have been very supportive of me and have made it easy for me to visit and take my friend on little trips.
More than happy with everything that is done for Mum. Everyone concerned has total commitment to the resident's care and well-being. Not only the care they show but also keeping the residents happy, holding events and parties and getting them involved with the activities. Seeing Mum dancing at past parties, clapping and singing to the music. A big thank you to everyone.
Mum is a resident here, and I can honestly say it was life-changing for us, Mum, especially when we got her a place here. The staff are absolutely amazing, and I can honestly say Mum loves them all. You can see by how she interacts with them that she is happier and feels safer than she has been for a long time. All staff, from the top to the bottom, are professional yet caring and approachable for both residents and family members. Mum's room is lovely and is always clean and presentable as is the rest of the home. Mum always tells us the food is great, and the extra things like afternoon teas, pizza night etc, that the staff lay on show how well catered for the residents are. As a family member, I can honestly say that getting Mum a place here was the best thing that could possibly happen for us all. I know that Mum is well cared for, stimulated, and above all, safe and can ask for no more, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you all.
Always friendly and willing staff. My mum is well cared for both physically and medically, and her environment is spotlessly clean and comfortable. She is in the best place possible, and her needs are fulfilled with dignity.
Very caring home. My wife has been in nine years. Always welcoming when I go. Always nice and clean in bedrooms and corridors, food seems to be good quality, and staff very friendly. I’m always notified straight away if any problems with my wife.
