View Full Details of City Health Care Ltd - Alderson HouseThe reason given no stars is because my mum was in there and she had an awful time in there. She witnessed no kitchen and had hotdogs and sandwiches for tea. Made her take meds that she did not need or use. Also, an elderly gentleman wanted his tea at a certain time and not before. They took it away and when he asked for his tea they said too late. That happened three nights in a row. I was feeling quite sick when I visited the place as the lounge area smelt awful. I will be putting in a complaint about this and also my mum and brother are as well. Disgraceful now my mum has told us never to put her in a care home, it has frightened her.
Staff are always friendly and always obliging. The carpet in the main lounge could do with renewing or cleaning.
My mum has been a resident since February 2023. The staff are always polite; they treat residents with compassion and dignity. I feel that my mum is safe and well-supported at Alderson House. It was a very difficult decision for my mum to go into residential care, but this was made easier by the staff's welcoming approach and understanding. Maybe, could be more activities and a nice garden area for residents to go into and new garden furniture.
I find all staff to be excellent and will go out of their way to help. I couldn't be more pleased as, in our case, it was a rush to get him to a care home. They always make us very welcome.
The home is very well kept, the staff at all times show a very high level of care and attention to the needs of the resident. They also have regular internal social functions that the residents enjoy such as games and quizzes and make sure to mark occasions such as Christmas with a visit from Father Christmas and a party, which is clearly popular. The manager and all staff keep me informed of my wife's changing physical and mental condition, which I much appreciate. My wife is happy there and I am very positive about the quality of both care and human contact she enjoys.
In the five months that my mother has been a resident at Alderson House, she has always been treated with the utmost kindness, respect and dignity. Staff are friendly and welcoming to family and friends who visit and are available to answer any queries that we may have. If there are any concerns regarding her health we know that we'll be informed and, if necessary, her GP contacted promptly. Her room is kept clean and tidy and it was lovely to see that it had been decorated with balloons on her birthday. She's developed very good relationships with staff and is reassured that when she's feeling anxious or worried she can ask one of them to help her use the phone to contact us. She's settled very well at Alderson House and I'm confident that she's safe and well looked after.
Alderson House is a really good place for anyone who is looking for a residential home there are really helpful and polite. The staff are really good and they make you feel very welcome when you are visiting family.
My mother was resident in Alderson House from January to May 2023 after she was unable to care for herself at home. I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, respectful and caring. It helped my sister and I to have peace of mind that she was in a safe place.
Our mum was a resident of Alderson House for over four months. She had been in hospital for a month before this and was very ill with infections and delirium. The staff at Alderson House made every effort to help her move more but she was very frail, and she refused to eat. She lost weight dramatically but this was not the fault of the staff. They became concerned on 13 May and arranged an ambulance which took her to the infirmary. She became steadily weaker in spite of the hospital's treatments and passed away on May 22. The staff at Alderson House were always friendly, kind and attentive and we thank them for the care they gave our mum.
No issues of concern - sister has advanced dementia and her needs and welfare are well catered for. Staff are caring, friendly people who are always ready to help if needed.
We were very impressed on how friendly and professional the staff were. They helped my Mum settle in without any stress or upset. The home itself is very accessible and well laid out. We are always made welcome when visiting.
This place is shocking! The team could not tell me who the key worker was for my father-in-law. They had him on a liquid diet for five weeks, despite the fact the hospital discharge papers made no reference to this, no wonder he lost so much weight. They claimed he was using his walking frame to make his own way to the toilet, when in fact he was unable to get out of bed and he had no walking frame in his room, they simply told him to do everything in his pads, how degrading. Despite the fact they knew he was dehydrated, they failed to measure his liquid intake. The day we had him moved to another home they packed his things in bin liners and left him sat in a wheelchair for two hours in a cold corridor. It was clear they had no idea of how they should be looking after my father-in-law, or showed any real care. The manager and senior staff should be ashamed and disciplined, or better still sacked. Feel free to call me. My father-in-law is now in a new care home and he is making fantastic progress.
The majority of staff are doing a great job and really do care for the residents as if their own family members. I had a recent concern which I raised with senior staff (2) which hasn't happened again. My mam has now been a resident for four years and up to this incident was very happy.
My aunt and uncle went into care together and have been treated with compassion and dignity from the start. On his birthday they put up banners, got my auntie a card and gift to give him and made his day special. I turn up unannounced all the time and they are always clean and tidy and smell nice, and my uncle tells me the care staff are lovely to them both. My auntie has dementia but has really settled there and if I have to enquire about anything they are always helpful and accommodating. Top marks from me and thank you.
I have arrived from Canada to see my mother, who is a resident of Alderson House. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a very warm welcome, and all the staff that I met were very kind and friendly. My mother seems to be cared for, and she seemed comfortable in her surroundings.
Very friendly and professional staff. It was evident that the staff had taken the time to get to know guests very well and could answer all my questions without having to look things up in a notebook. The building and rooms were spotlessly clean. I moved my relative here from another residential care home which did not meet her needs. She is now very happy at Alderson House.
Staff are always polite and helpful. Mum is always treated with care and respect.
From arriving in an unknown situation to all our family, our experience of Alderson House has been excellent. From friendly staff to a well-kept environment. My mum seems happy and always seems to be doing something, from having her hair done to making donuts. Overall good experience at a stressful and heartwrenching situation.
I have always been very happy with the care and support given to my mother. The staff have always been extremely friendly and supportive and also to me. They are very dedicated and hard-working.
My sister has been a resident at Alderson house for nine months. In that time she has received exceptional care. Communication is excellent between us relatives and the staff. Any questions are usually answered quickly and professionally. My sister insists the food standard is excellent along with the care by the care staff. Cleanliness has always been second to none whenever we have visited Alderson House. During the pandemic, the staff have always adhered to medical protocol and made sure residents have been safe.
