View Full Details of Loran HouseMum seems to have settled into the care home very quickly. She has made some new friends. All the staff are all very nice and friendly. Her speech has come on a treat, she is also smiling and laughing more than we have seen her do in a long time.
I can not fault anything with Loran House. The manager and staff are really brilliant in all they do.
I think this home is very good. The care is wonderful, would recommend it to anyone. Mum is happy here and I know she is taken care of. The staff are very good.
Mum's health has declined rapidly over the last year, however, the home has ensured she's been checked at the hospital and kept me informed of events. The staff have alleviated my feelings of guilt that I'm not in a position to do more for my mum, I was her carer but I work and look after my grandchildren so I can only visit Mum one or two times a week. The staff always greet me with smiles and I know they genuinely care for mum and the food is amazing!
I can't find a bad word to say about the staff I think they are wonderful and caring. My only wish is that I could do something with my brain. I am sure there is something on TV which would make me think more.
I enjoy living at Loran House. The staff are very good. The boss is very good especially when he makes dippy eggs, very good.
Thank you to all the fabulous staff of Loran House who looked after my mum during her final two weeks; you bent over backwards to ensure my darling mum was as comfortable as possible and did everything possible to help her despite her being so extremely fragile. I cannot thank you all enough for all the kind and loving care you gave to my mum and me when I lost her. You will never be forgotten, each and every member of your wonderful care home. My love to you all.
Very disappointed with the care given or rather the lack of. I visited my grandfather over the festive period to find he had been wearing the same clothes for 5 days, he can be urine incontinent, and had not had personal care administered. We were advised he can become agitated, unfortunately, this is characteristic of dementia patients. My understanding is that personal care is typically given at least once AM and PM meaning out of 10 opportunities none were successful - is more training needed for clients with dementia? Cleanliness is also an issue, a chair in a communal area which was soiled on the 24th was still not cleaned by 27th, and there were stools under the Christmas tree. When trying to speak with the manager we were advised he wasn't in until 28th when calling he has left for a teams meeting. The AM staff say the PM staff should administer personal care if my grandad is up before they start the PM, staff say they sometimes do. Clients should be treated with dignity and respect.
I had been pleased with my dad's care up until these last 6 months. I visit my dad every week and let staff know in plenty of time that I will be picking him up and would like him to be ready or as near as. On a few occasions lately, I have gone to pick him up, he has been wet, still in his pyjamas or in my opinion what he had on the previous day. He never looks smart, never has anything on his feet and is generally unkempt as staff say he won't often let them get him ready or shave him. I have bought numerous pairs of trainers, shoes and slippers but they all disappear. The hairdresser, who is lovely, tries to shave his beard off each week but staff never keep on top of it and he nearly always has a beard. I have even been recently and had to put him in the bath myself. I have spoken to the manager and got quite upset about it as I feel responsible for looking out for my dad's welfare. I feel they don't have enough staff to care for everyone.
I can’t stress enough that anyone considering putting their loved one in this home, think again. Within a few short months of doing my last review everything changed, so much so that I had to repeatedly complain to the management which I followed up with an email once I got home so it was documented as evidence. After every complaint, I was assured the problems would be addressed and yet the next week I’d have to complain about the same things again. Eventually, I had to get social services involved which led to them sending the safeguarding team in for neglect of my mother-in-law. In brief, the care or lack of it was absolutely disgusting and so upsetting for our family. It took months to go through the proper channels to move her to another home, which we eventually did late last year. Since being moved she has regained her confidence and dignity with the help and dedication of the staff at her new home.
I have been extremely lucky to be able to see my sister through the window in the garden and in the pod.
My mum has been a resident at Loran House for 18 months now. I cannot thank the team at Loran House for the care they have given and continue to give to my mum. Choosing a care home is one of the hardest decisions a family has to make, but I know we made the right one. The team go above and beyond what is expected of them. Thank you.
My mum-in-law has been in Loran for over 3 years, cannot thank them enough for the care they provide for her. She recently suffered a massive stroke and we all thought she would not pull through, she proved us all wrong and is now back at Loran where she feels at home. The manager and all her wonderful hardworking staff have welcomed her back and are doing their very best to make her comfortable through this difficult time, can't thank them enough for all they do for her and all the residents.
First time seeing inside a care home. The thought of my mum in a care home scared me. My mum has been here for just over a month. I didn't need to be worried as my mum settled in and staff and management have been fantastic. Always eager to reassure me but more importantly mum's interest is foremost. Always clean, no nasty smells. Food is outstanding.
My aunt has been a resident of Loran House for 2 years and 3 months. We visit her on average 3 times per month. She loves the staff and the residents mix. She has brought up the last of 9 siblings and looks on Loran House residents as her brothers an sisters - but grown up! I have nothing but good words for the manager and her team!
I could relax knowing mum was in a safe place, being very well looked after, by great, caring staff who treated her with dignity.
My dad has only been in the home for 3 weeks, they have been brilliant to my dad. He is so happy, the carers are great and always available for his needs. The cleaners bend over backwards, also it is so family oriented which is brilliant. Management are brilliant food, brilliant overall, brilliant in all corners.
My father has been at Loran House for a year he has had the best care ever! The carers are amazing and the manager really works hard to make sure my father has the best care. The home is clean and the entertainment is great. My father is always looked after well and the home has made so many changes to the place they have a bar and hair salon and a nice garden. I cannot thank them enough the whole place is amazing.
I had no previous experience of care homes until my mother entered Loran House in 2016. I was happy with the care provided but since the care company has taken over the place has been totally transformed. The appearance, ambience, decoration, facilities, food and management are all massively improved. All credit to the company for the significant investment involved.
Since Loran House has been taken over by Prime Life the service provided is excellent and improving the facilities all the time.
