View Full Details of Sycamore House Care HomeMum has been a resident since June 2024. The staff were amazing in settling her in and have been very supportive and aware of her needs. January is a difficult month emotionally for mum and the staff have helped her to cope. As a family we would recommend Sycamore House Care Home as a safe and caring environment for a loved one.
As a family we are happy regarding the care our mum receives at Sycamore House Care Home. She's safe, treated with dignity and respect. Staff are approachable, caring and professional. Management are always available and friendly. Facilities are good and the rooms are always kept clean and tidy. Very good options for food and drink, dining area is always clean and tidy. My mum is safe and the security is very good. Overall my mum's experience has been really good and she's happy and content.
Excellent staff - dignity - empathy. Food excellent - great choice. Very clean - rooms, toilets, kitchen. Feels like home. Feels safe - secure. Family involved in care. Great value for money. Mum says "can go wherever you want" and "do what you want." Mum loves all the staff.
Always made welcome and very confident in the care provided.
Staff always polite and helpful and will sort any problems efficiently and quickly where possible. Care home always clean and tidy. Mam is looked after very well at all times.
I have today sat in on a meeting with the social worker and senior staff members. I was involved with the assessment and was impressed with the knowledge and depth of care that he is receiving. There are no issues with the care that he is getting, and as we come up to his two-year anniversary of being at the care home, we have no issues to mention.
When first visiting the home pre Mum's admission, I was welcomed by all staff with a smile and friendliness. This has continued on every visit to see Mum. Mum is always clean with fresh clothes daily. Staff take the time to ensure all residents are cared for. The banter between staff and residents is light-hearted and respectful.
Mum was admitted in January. We always said we wouldn't put her in care, but so glad she's come here. It is somewhere I would recommend, and the staff are really committed to the residents; they interact with them under intense pressure. I'm here sometimes at mealtimes, and the food is varied and plentiful. They have a nice Facebook site, which is good to see the activity results. I would gladly have any of my family being cared for here if problems occurred. Thank you.
Helpful as always. Mum has no complaints which makes us happy.
My mam was a resident here from November 2017 until November 2021. After looking around a few homes, I came to Sycamore, as soon as I entered, I knew this was the place for my mam. Mam was so well looked after in Sycamore, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Mam walked around the home constantly - she was never made to just sit down, this was her home, and that is how the staff regarded Sycamore. They have regular activities and hairdresser visits every week, and they have a dedicated room for the salon. They send out a regular questionnaire for your input. The manager's door is always open. The bedrooms are very spacious with everything the resident needs. Two spacious lounges and a large dining room which opens up to a secure garden at the back. I would not hesitate to recommend Sycamore and its staff. The last few days of my mam's life, she was really well looked after. I was able to sit with her, and all the staff were always popping their head around the door to check on her.
My dad is currently at Sycamore, and the care he receives is second to none. The staff are absolutely amazing and cannot do enough for him. Although the staff are incredibly busy; they always have the time to have a chat with him and make regular checkups. We visit Dad on a daily basis and are always made to feel very welcome and often provided with refreshments. We are constantly kept up to date and informed of Dad's health and well-being, which gives us peace of mind and removes a lot of worries. Dad is very settled here and can’t thank the staff enough for his daily care; he calls them all ‘angels’. His room is lovely and bright, and the sun pours through his window; he overlooks a little garden and loves watching the birds. As a family, we have had nothing but praise for Sycamore House and its wonderful staff.
My one regret is leaving my Mum in this place where she was placed by my sister. The place smelt of urine and when we visited we were let in and out the door with no communication from anyone. When I rang up to check on my Mum their only answer was she’s about the same. I was obviously taking up to much of their time. I asked if they would let me know if there was any change in Mum but they never did and when Mum passed away in June the home never even contacted us. I feel robbed that they never let us know the time was near which they must have known and we didn’t get to see her one last time, maybe she might have known we were there. We were told Mum had passed a couple of hours after she had passed by my older sister. We were left waiting outside for twenty minutes. When we went to see her afterwards nobody ever said sorry for your loss, even kept us waiting about ten minutes to leave. Please don’t let your Loved ones stay in this place.
My mam was taken into this place for respite. We were not allowed to visit due to covid restrictions. But when we did visit the staff answered the door was arrogant and ignorant. Shouting at us they had other residents to look after, making us wait to be let in through a gate at the back. Then the staff member who eventually let us in was rude, we had to ask which window to go to, as we had not visited before. She knocked on the window to let my mam know we were there and just walked away. When we looked through the little gap in the window we were taken aback by the very strong smell of urine. There were no skirting boards on the wall to the floor. We contacted social services to voice our concerns. Within a week she was taken to HRI with suspected heart problems which was not the case she had the worst bed sore anyone can have which wasn't there when mam went into this home.
I cannot thank the lovely staff for making Sycamore her home at this very scary time. I don't call them staff; I call them the home family. They care for her as one of their own. The food is delicious, I'd be happy to be served home-cooked every day. Drinks, biscuits, crisps and fruit goes round in between meals. With my mum being in whilst the lockdown has been going on, I know entertainment was limited but they did what they could between them to make life happy. I was able to decorate her room with her own wallpaper and dress the room as we pleased. Lovely place. Happy friendly place. Great staff. Shame the owners don't treat them as I think they deserve. More treats and bonuses would be a start.
My mum has had remarkable care from all members of staff and is looked after 100%. I am always kept informed if she is under the weather. I would recommend if anyone is looking for a care home to take a look - would not want my mum anywhere else.
The whole family is pleased with the care our mother receives at Sycamore House. She can be very much a challenge, but she is treated with care and respect and all her needs met. We are very grateful to the Sycamore staff, especially at this difficult time with Covid, they maintain a high level of professionalism while remaining friendly and approachable.
The staff overall treat residents with care and respect, catering staff also go out of their way to accommodate meals that mum likes. Facilities are improving the garden so the residents can sit outside.
I have stayed here 3 times and each time I find something wrong. Most of the staff are great but a few are not. I would not put any of my parents in a place like this. Staff can be very rude to them, there is nothing for them to do except walk around the corridors or be put in front of the TV all day and left. I have seen mice in the place and sometimes the smell is very off-putting. I have never had a bath there, I always come home for 1 as bathrooms are not very hygienic.
My mum has just spent three days respite in Sycamore House where I believe she was looked after to their utmost best. She seemed very happy and relaxed when I picked her up. I will be using this establishment again as I'm very impressed.
Mam has been here a year and a half and has presented some challenges to the home. She is always treated with dignity and respect regardless of her mood. Staff are all kind and understanding. The food is cooked fresh every day, it is done well and mam really appreciates this. All the family appreciate the home and what they have done for mam.
