View Full Details of Chestnuts Care CentreMy husband is not a resident, he goes in for day care. He can be very difficult at times but the staff and manager handle him with patience, care and dignity. We tried three other facilities and they were unable to deal with him, so this is great help to me to give me time to myself. I am extremely grateful for the support they give me as well as my husband.
My sister has been treated very well since she has lived here. The home is beautiful and clean. Always something going on, but she chooses not to join in. There is window bird feeders in the living room and loves to watch the birds and squirrels in the garden.
My mum has been with Chestnuts for over a year and I appreciate the care that she receives. Due to distance, I am only able to visit once a week but I always feel reassured that my mum's needs are taken care of and that she is treated with respect and dignity. The care staff are lovely and knowledgeable on all aspects of their resident's care. I am always able to ring for any updates, the staff are quick to inform me of any changes as well. Thank you.
Staff are pleasant and caring towards service users. Plenty of activities going on, days out organised. A pleasant place to visit, Mum is well looked after. I have no worries about her when I can't visit.
My wife has dementia, is hard of hearing and has type 2 diabetes, as a consequence, requires assistance with her day-to-day hygiene and health. I moved my wife to this care home after a very bad experience with another care home. I have been observing the way the staff and manager treat my wife, assist her with her daily needs and keep the residents occupied throughout the day. I have been very impressed with the way she and the other residents are treated.
Mum celebrated another birthday at the fabulous Chestnuts Care Centre, all staff are fantastic, they go above and beyond for the residents. Always something going on if wanted to join in or rest and relax, there's always fun and laughter which Mum loves. She's so happy there and so content which is something that's not said about a lot of homes but hand on heart, I couldn't wish for more for my dearest mammy so thank you Chestnuts, your my new superheroes all of you.
My dad was cared for by the manager and her team at the Chestnuts Care Centre, Grimsby. He opted to move on there when residential care became necessary after spending some respite weeks with them. I observed how they cared for him for eighteen months until he died in December. A term often used is that you want care staff to treat the people they care for as they would their own family. I feel this was genuinely what happened with a lot of the staff. There was also a commitment to keeping the mood upbeat so they did lots of ingenious entertainments. Dad was usually keen to join in. Dad had a healthy appetite and some specific food requirements but the kitchen was thoughtful and flexible so he continued to get pleasure from his food. When there was a need to raise issues these were taken by the manager with good grace and they were acted on. There were times when I could see staff were under immense strain during lockdowns but I could also see how hard they worked to minimise the impact on our loved ones.
In a word, 'faultless'. This says it all regarding the quality of care given. If a blemish could be found it would be the enclosed garden and staff smoking area adjacent to the kitchen. I appreciate that smokers have rights but when the wind is from the wrong direction the smell of cigarette smoke filters through both the kitchen and dining room.
My dear wife has been in the Chestnuts Care Centre for over a year now and she trusts everyone who works there. The manager and all her staff are so amazing, caring to some people is just a job, not these wonderful people, they really do care. My wife has severe dementia, she doesn’t understand anything and can’t communicate with anyone but they persevere with her, talk to her and treat her like anyone with understanding. I can’t praise them enough for all their dedication. They have managed to get her walking again after she broke her hip which I thought would never happen. I would recommend them to anyone who needed a care home, the Chestnuts are 100%. All angels don’t come with wings, God bless you all.
Great all-round service, always helpful and informative, always clean and tidy everywhere, inside and outside. The home is easily accessible, cheerful and welcoming on arrival and on departure. Nothing is too much trouble for any member of staff at the Chestnuts Care Centre. Mum has settled in very well over the past year she's lived there. Seems generally very happy when I visit once or twice a week. Finally, it's a relief and peace of mind for myself and family that Mum is settled, safe and sound in reliable, safe hands at the Chestnuts.
The staff here are all lovely. My sister-in-law was very nervous about moving into a care home but these ladies have really welcomed her and she absolutely loves it. Nothing is too much trouble and they have become her friends.
Chestnuts Care Centre and its staff have given me my beloved grandma back and I cannot express how thankful I am for this. We nearly lost Grandma in December 2021 and with the Chestnuts staff's diligence, care and support, my grandma, who is surviving dementia, a broken hip alongside COPD, has been given a quality of life that I never believed she would have after seeing her at the discharge home. The staff are professional, kind and above all, treat their residents like family. I can leave my grandma knowing that she is safe, cared for and loved by the carers. To the staff, thank you so much, I'm forever grateful for all that you do.
The staff are incredibly welcoming, caring and kind. The care they provide is outstanding and of high quality towards their residents. I’m forever in debt for their kindness and the care they have provided my loved one.
My sister has been at the Chestnuts Care Centre since December 2021. During that time she has had excellent care and attention. The staff are friendly and willing and offer emotional support and friendship.
Every point of contact from the ways staff are positive, respectful and caring, the way they answer and converse on the phone to the way they speak to my mum with genuine patience, respect and kindness and the professional organisation of Mum's medicines and having her ready to leave when she is coming home with me for a 'day out' - the staff are amazing! If I had anything to question, or suggest rather it would be even nicer for Mum if there was a nicer, more comfortable and pretty garden, with flowers, to sit out in.
I felt that the home had the experience, facilities and understanding staff to deal with our mum and her dementia. The staff were always friendly and seemed to care about each individual's needs. During the lockdown, every effort was made to allow us to see Mum within the current rules and they were always accessible by phone as I live a 3-hour journey away from the home. The activities advertised were undertaken, which did not appear to be the case at some other homes. These were designed to make the residents feel happy and perhaps remember times past and everyone seemed to have an enjoyable time, including the staff and this rubbed off on the residents. Sadly, because of Mum's condition deteriorating, she had to move on to an advanced unit but the Chestnuts staff made the transition easy at a very stressful time. The end came soon after Mum left but myself and my three sisters would like to express our sincere thanks for the care and attention that Mum received in her final days.
