View Full Details of Emmaus HouseMy auntie is a long term resident of Emmaus House. She has enjoyed a very happy, contented and safe life in the home. As the years have passed by, she has received the increased care and support appropriate to her health needs. Enthusiastic staff provide numerous and varied activities, giving vital stimulation and lots of laughter! Emmaus is a very welcoming home maintained to a very high standard, a true community for which we are very grateful.
My uncle has resided at Emmaus house for over 8 years and in that time has been treated with the utmost respect and love. Whenever we visit, we are welcomed warmly and made to feel part of the family that is Emmaus.
My mother has been a resident at Emmaus House for just over a year, initially visiting for a most positive respite stay. I am so thankful for this amazing, inclusive place that is a loving home in the fullest sense of the word: management and staff consistently model professionalism, compassion and attention to her well being and physical needs. Being severely sight impaired, with an outgoing personality, the provision for mum is outstanding, and personalised to meet her needs. My mother has a fresh start to life, forging genuine friendships, embracing innovative and inclusive activities, meticulously prepared - for example, the sporting activities, individual inputs on specific topics, such as the archaeology sessions, and collective seasonal events. Christian faith, laughter and joy are at the heart of Emmaus - my mum values this very much, and feels listened to. Always given a warm welcome when the family visit, we love invitations to join in unique events with our loved one.
My mum has now been in Emmaus House over a year and is very happy there. She is well looked after and enjoys the company she now has. There are lots of activities to do which she enjoys and lots of people to talk to. Staff are very good and will pop in for a chat and a joke if they are not too busy. There is a very friendly atmosphere in the building and it is very welcoming. She enjoys the food and has put on a bit of weight since moving in! All credit to the management for steering the ship in the right direction!
I have always been kept up to date with my friends condition as her POA. It has been comforting to know my friend has been looked after with care and compassion and has, at all times, had her wishes met with understanding.
Staff are always helpful and are so kind and patient with my mum. Thank you so much. They are always happy to take the mobile phone to mum when I ring up, welcoming when I visit and help with any concerns.
My Godmother was a resident at Emmaus House for over two years up to her death in November, and I was always happy with the care that she received, and the family atmosphere of the home. When visiting, we often took part in organised activities, which was most enjoyable. The staff were always friendly and helpful and I would certainly recommend Emmaus House based on my Godmother's experience there.
My aunt lived at Emmaus House for several years. She died there a year ago after she and all her family received excellent care and support throughout her time at Emmaus House. The ongoing care shown to our family is wonderful. They are always there for support to us, and we still feel part of the Emmaus Family. I am taking a friend, (whose mother also was cared for and died in Emmaus House) with me to visit Emmaus House as we have been invited to join the residents and team before Christmas. Thank you for this follow-up care Emmaus House.
Prior to my in-law moving into Emmaus House its reputation had preceded it. On moving in and over the time she has been there, their reputation has been confirmed. The quality of accommodation and services are excellent. The staff and care provided is of a high quality. It is a very personable environment for very needy people. As a regular visitor I am treated with kindness and respect and see firsthand the love and care extended to service users, visitors and staff alike.
There is no better place than Emmaus House for its family-centred approach that actively involves the residents in every aspect of their care. It is a truly amazing place where everyone on the staff goes above and beyond in their care for the residents and makes visitors so welcome. It is a great comfort to know my mother-in-law receives such care and is so happy to be at Emmaus House, but their whole approach to care has reached new heights because my wife and I both commented after a recent visit that she looks so vibrant and confident. The approach to care really is enabling my mother-in-law to flourish at Emmaus.
A very caring “family“. The staff treat residents and their families like real friends. Always welcoming and very caring for the residents. The accommodation is very comfortable and homely. All the staff make the extra effort to make you feel welcome.
My mother spent 3 happy years at Emmaus House. She was very well supported and looked after - all staff excellent. My mother died December 2022.
I have been so impressed with the care and friendliness of all the staff at Emmaus House. It has been a great relief to me to find such a welcoming and professional care home for my relative. The ambience and facilities are so good, and all the residents are treated with respect and dignity. I have also enjoyed taking part in the activities and events. The management and staff work very hard to arrange celebrations and make everyone feel included. Thank you, Emmaus House.
Mum has been at Emmaus House since last December. We managed to keep her in her own home in London, living independently, until she was ninety-five. But, when my husband and I moved to Harrogate, we knew this was the right time to find a new permanent home for Mum and Emmaus House has been the right decision. She’s finally getting used to being looked after and constantly ‘complains’ that the food is too good! The staff are extremely kind and caring; I visit Mum virtually every day so I know this to be true.
My husband and I, on visiting at Christmas, felt that Emmaus House Care Home had a very homely feel about it. The staff, professionals and volunteers all have a ready smile, are friendly and go about their work with lots of patience and understanding of the family they are caring for. This reflects the Christian ethos of Emmaus House. Mum seems to have settled in to the House now and, with the encouragement of staff, has even started using her zimmer frame to move around! Great progress. Thanks to all!
My mum was initially placed here temporarily in Oct 2021 after a series of falls and it was clear that she could no longer cope with looking after herself in her own home. She immediately felt well cared for and fortunately, they were able to offer her a permanent place. Everyone - from the permanent staff to the volunteers - is very friendly and caring and it really feels like there's a 'family' atmosphere when you visit. From the care team to the kitchen staff, cleaners and the management team, all take a real interest in the residents. A particular mention should go to the kitchen team as my mum says the meals are really good - and they make great cakes for everyone's birthdays too! There are lots of daily activities for residents to take part in if they wish and my mum's making new friends which is reassuring to see. It's been a big change for someone who was so determined to stay independent but I'm really happy that she has settled in and I know that she's being well cared for.
Dad arrived at Emmaus House in December after not being able to look after himself properly. A neighbour recommended Emmaus House and I am really glad they did. I wasn't sure how he would react but he has settled in really well and has been looked after and cared for with nothing too much bother. I would like to thank all of the staff for their dedication to look after all the residents.
Our mother is very happy at Emmaus House since her previous care home sadly closed down in the Autumn. On the first day, she and I were greeted very warmly, with a tray of tea served in beautiful china. We both looked at each other and breathed a sigh of relief. The staff are very warm and friendly, as are the 'family members' and there is plenty of interaction and conversation to keep everyone in touch with the outside world. We can't recommend Emmaus House highly enough.
My Dad has only been in Emmaus House for a relatively short time but he has settled really well after an initial period of being unsettled due to the transition from home into the care home. I feel this is perfectly understandable and staff have supported him well to settle into the new routines. They are so caring and kind. They keep me up to date regularly with my Dad's health and well-being. Nothing is too much trouble for them to organise and they are unfailingly cheerful and helpful. I feel that my Dad is well cared for and safe and I can visit him whenever I wish (whilst of course complying with all the Covid safe rules in place). The care home is in a great position with lots of 3-hour free parking nearby for visits, and opposite one of the entrances to the beautiful Valley Gardens. My Mum was in the home too until her death in August and it is lovely for my Dad to be somewhere that people remember and talk about Mum. I would recommend Emmaus House to anyone.
My daughter and I visited several care homes when my mum's dementia meant she had to be in a secure home where she couldn’t go wandering around outside. We saw several homes, sometimes 2 or 3 visits to each, but I felt immediately relieved after meeting the Emmaus team and visiting the home. My mum is so settled and relaxed at Emmaus House. My family and I are delighted with how happy she is. The staff are all fabulous, kind and always available for a talk. They all love my mother, and it’s such a relief to the family. Thank you for your care and kindness.
