View Full Details of Esk Hall Care HomeEsk Hall is a lovely home in a rural environment. The staff are very caring and attentive. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my husband became a resident in May and immediately settled and felt at home. His room is very clean, light and airy with views over the valley, and he is able to have his familiar things around him. Nothing seems too much trouble, and he is offered personalised care and attention. My husband enjoys the food and interactions with the staff, some of whom have worked at Esk Hall for a number of years. There is a very warm, informal, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and if a relative has to be in residential care, then you can’t go far wrong with Esk Hall.
My mother came to Esk Hall for two weeks respite care and it is a lovely care home. The manager leads by example and without exception, the staff were professional, kind and caring in every way. When she got home, my mother told all her visitors that the care was perfect and neither she nor I would have any hesitation in her returning if she needs further care. I can recommend Esk Hall without any reservation.
Once it became necessary that my mother needed 24-hour care and that support packages at home weren't working Esk Hall were approached for a placement. The Manager went to see my mother at home to explain the process and she was initially admitted on a respite basis. This became permanent in February 2019. I have been very happy with the environment and the admission process. However, the best feature from my perspective is the support my mother has received on a one to one basis since she was admitted. Staff have taken her to hospital and dental appointments and there has been regular communication with myself. I feel welcome when I visit and nothing seems too much trouble for the staff. Every time I have visited I have seen staff constantly talking to residents supporting them and interacting with them in a way I have not always seen in other such environments.
My mam has regularly received respite care at Esk Hall. The care she received is first rate, nothing is too much trouble, the food is fantastic and mam thoroughly enjoyed all of the entertainments, it was reassuring to know she was so well looked after, I would have no problem recommending Esk Hall.
My husband was only in the home for one week's respite care so I am unable to answer some of the questions. He has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember being there or what the food etc was like. I was very satisfied with the care and attention he received and felt it was a worthwhile experience for him. So much so that I have arranged for daycare once a week. I know his condition will only get worse and would have no hesitation in asking the home to care for him permanently.
I have visited my friend every week in July, she is well looked after. Staff very friendly.
We are delighted with the personal care and attention given by the staff who deal with Mum on a day to day basis. Her room is very clean, pleasant and warm and overlooks the Esk Valley. The food is home cooked and varied. Mum is encouraged to join in with the afternoon's activities and especially enjoys anything which involves singing or music. The size of the home ensures a warm, informal and friendly atmosphere which is ideal for Mum
I came here from another place where I was not happy. I arrived here in October 2016, this is entirely different. The home is beautiful and I couldn't get anywhere better. There is a young woman in the afternoon for activities each weekday. The meals are served in a lovely dining room always hot and good. The Sunday lunch is always excellent.
Since the appointment of a new manager, things have improved greatly. Residents are much more active and engaged. Staff are much more stable and there is a much friendlier atmosphere. Areas for improvement; Daily showers Staff trainer in maintaining hearing aids Wider range of games for the partially sighted
Esk Hall is a beautiful home with lovely views. It is very clean and has no smell. My mother's room is lovely and was able to put pictures up on the wall and has one item of furniture. The staff are all very good and very caring towards all of the residents. There are activities five times a week. A hairdresser comes to the home once a week. My mother has her nails painted, first time ever. This is a home that everybody would wish to be in.
From the moment Mum went into Esk Hall there was an immediate feeling of care and concern. Everything was done to make Mum feel at home, which included using her quilt covers and allowing us to put up family photos and adding ornaments and personal belongings. Mum really enjoys her food and there is plenty of it. There is entertainment on weekday afternoons and include having nails done and hair done. I try to take Mum out each week and the carers always ask if Mum has enjoyed her time and what she said and where she went. All in all a 'home from home'.
Esk Hall is not only a wonderful building with excellent grounds and views and it is well maintained and fitted out with quality furnishings and fittings. The staff are well selected, well trained, caring and look after my mother very well. The food is also of good quality, with a varied menu and well presented. Nothing is too much trouble.
I wished to visit my aunt in Esk Hall in the morning. I arranged to have Esk Hall called about 9:00 am so that my aunt would have time to be up, and dressed before I arrived. Six separate calls were made between 9:00 and 9:25 before the phone was answered by Esk Hall staff. This was on a Friday morning within business hours. Communications between staff and resident's families is a vital link to the health and safety of the residents and to the well being of the families. It is not acceptable that the main telephone line go unanswered. It is not an indication of good management.
The staff were very attentive and caring. Everyone was welcoming and cheerful. Our room was well furnished, the beds were comfortable. The room heating was easy to adjust and a suitable level for both day and night time. Unfortunately due to refurbishment of the kitchen and the fact that I fell one day, we were not able to make full use of the conservatory and lounge.
