View Full Details of The GatehouseThis is a very good nursing home. My mother has been a resident here for two years, and she has improved in her well-being and enjoyment of life. She has a social interaction with fellow residents that hugely benefits her. I have no negative experiences at all over all this time.
Very friednly and cosy care home with loving staff! Everyone would go out of their way to do more for us! The management team are so helpful and warm! Everything is done on a personal need basis. I am very grateful!
From a recent bereavement necessitating residential care for my elderly dad, coupled with an in-country move from south to north, my dad has settled in very well with the support of the kind and caring staff. The Gatehouse team are very supportive and welcoming and nothing seems too much trouble. The recently appointed new manager appears to have reinvigorated the team, keep up the good work.
All good and much loved recently in all aspects.
My mother has been a resident of The Gatehouse for 15 months. Her care has been excellent, all the care team are very kind and professional. Previously, good leadership has been lacking but this has vastly improved since the appointment of the new manager. he is engaged with all he meets and keen to improve, there is a renewed sense of team spirit which is reflected in the residents who are now enjoying more activities and engagement. Please keep up the good work, an excellent team.
My nan (recently deceased) had a very happy time residing at The Gatehouse. Every time I and other family visited we found a caring, warm environment and atmosphere in the home. Staff, although often changing due to the sector were always welcoming and felt like friendly, whilst clearly showing respect and care for each resident's dignity. The recent new management has definitely added a layer of confidence and reassurance to staffing (care staff) and the overall sense of The Gatehouse. Finally, I could not fault the care given to my nan in her last few weeks.
I have no hesitation in recommending The Gatehouse to anyone considering a care home place. The care team are attentive and caring, they treat the residents with dignity and respect and make efforts to meet the individual needs of residents. I have always been kept fully informed of any changes or developments in my mother's condition and I have felt the staff, at every level have been approachable and supportive.
The staff and management are excellent. The Gatehouse balances caring and helping residents with maintaining a feeling of independence and choices. My Mum has always been a very independent person so this matters to her. There is also a great balance of having plenty of things to join in with in The Gatehouse community and having time to oneself and a lovely one-to-one chat with staff and visitors. The food is currently excellent as is the care and atmosphere.
My gran always vowed never to stay in any care facility, however after two days of respite care in The Gatehouse, she told us in no uncertain terms, she was giving up her flat because this was her home now. She has settled beautifully, in part down to the attentive, personalised and genuine care given to her from the team. From the admin staff through to the care managers, special care is given to personalise the care and get to know their residents. Her room is light and airy and organised to her taste and best care interests and nothing is too much trouble. Visiting is no problem - at any time, and we have even had take-out nights in our PJs. A real home from home. She is now a permanent resident and enjoying making new friends. The coffee mornings are always fabulous, and a lovely way to meet the people caring for your loved ones. Thank you to The Gatehouse team for all of your hard work!
We enjoyed a very pleasant visit today to our friend at the care home. We were made welcome, she has a nice room overlooking the garden, with good facilities.
The quality of individual care my mum receives is excellent. Continuity of staffing means some of the team know and understand her really well.
My brother is currently in The Gatehouse, and all I can say is what a relief it is. We are able to relax knowing that he is safe and getting the very best of care. The care and the facilities are second to none.
Since my mother came to The Gatehouse last December I have found that the care she receives has been excellent. The staff are warm and caring. Management is always friendly and helpful, and overall I am very happy with the standard of care provided. A big thank you to all concerned.
The Gatehouse is light, airy, well kept, warm and welcoming. Staff have created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and my mother settled in straight away, with no regrets about leaving her previous life on her own. Despite her advanced age she has brightened since moving in: congenial company, good meals and constant thoughtful care have given her a new lease of life. The home is the right size for her: small enough not to be intimidating or formal, large enough that there are plenty of people to chat to. A larger home might have more extensive facilities and activities (hence four, not five, in the scoring) but The Gatehouse makes the most of its homely and attractive site, and there are sufficient and varied events to keep residents engaged. If there are queries or problems, staff are quick to spot them, resolve them, call in medical or other help if necessary, and contact the family. I know my mother is in good hands.
Mum moved into The Gatehouse Care Home six weeks ago after suffering from a fall which made her nervous to go back home. She has settled quite well. The home is clean, warm, well-furnished and friendly. All the carers, staff and managers are very friendly and helpful and always take time with Mum, who can be quite challenging at times. She has also gained weight and seems happy in her new home. We would recommend this home.
My husband is in The Gatehouse and he's very happy.
The Gatehouse has a very welcoming and homely feel to it. The staff provide excellent care and are very friendly with residents and visiting family. There are plenty of activities arranged for the residents each week.
I live in France and can only visit my sister on my infrequent trips back to the UK. In October 2022, I was able to visit her twice and was very impressed by the loving care and attention given to all residents. When I left after my second and final visit, the carers made sure that my sister wasn't alone. Someone sat with her and then took her into the dining room where there were other residents. She wasn't left by herself. This was a sensitive and caring way of helping her not to feel suddenly alone. I am looking forward to seeing her again very soon.
Our mother moved to The Gatehouse in December 2022 and we were immediately impressed with the professionalism and warmth of the staff. Despite her multiple health challenges, The Gatehouse staff did everything they could to make our mother comfortable and happy and they were always welcoming and hospitable to us when visiting. The quality of a care home depends on many things, including good management and attention to detail (especially with medical needs) and these were all consistently evident during the time our mother was there. Most of all, though, it is the care team and staff that make all the difference! The team at The Gatehouse has been truly fantastic, often going beyond the call of duty and always showing genuine compassion in the care they provide. We will always be grateful for this and we have no hesitation in recommending The Gatehouse to anyone.
My Mum has settled in so well to the Gatehouse having had a bad fall. She really enjoys the company of the other residents and the family feel. She regularly comments that life is way better with the company and she feels safe and cared for. The staff are kind and jolly and care about the residents. I thoroughly enjoy visiting my mum either indoors or in the garden, weather permitting, it is also easy to take her out for trips.
