View Full Details of Gills TopA safe, friendly and comfortably environment for residents who are well looked after by lovely staff.
My Dad has been a resident at Gills Top since Nov 2023. Initially, we were worried at first but his experience has been such a positive one. The staff and atmosphere are all so friendly, helpful and caring. Residences are treated with dignity and respect, family is made so welcome. Dad settled very quickly and we as a family love visiting. We are all very happy with Gill Top.
My dad came to Gills Top for respite care for a week in November, as soon as I walked in to see the place I knew he would be happy there, it is so homely, wonderfully clean, the staff are so genuine and nothing is too much trouble. I want to say a personal thank you to the lady for arranging my dad's stay ensuring that everything was sorted and also checking in with my dad whilst he was staying, very kind and so very caring. All the staff I met were so lovely and Dad thoroughly enjoyed his stay, he said he was very well looked after, the food was lovely, nothing was too much trouble, the staff were very caring and kind and what more could he want, he said it really built him up, thank you all, you have been great.
As a family, we are so happy with the way our family members are looked after at this lovely, small very personal care facility. Activities occur daily with a full programme always available. Yesterday an in-house trip to Blackpool illuminations was available and so well organised by the team, fish and chips included. Keep up the good work everyone.
My father came to Gills Top for respite initially and then became a permanent resident. We are very happy with the care he receives. The whole team work tirelessly to provide a wonderful atmosphere combined with a high standard of individual care. Nothing is too much trouble, every resident is listened to and treated with dignity. Visitors are well looked after and always welcome. Any queries dealt with efficiently and communication excellent on all sides. Good food and a lot of fun complete the picture with entertainment as well. Lovely caring people.
My mother was in Gills Top for almost two years before her passing. She was really cared for and even though she was very choosy about her food the Chef would do all they could to accommodate what she liked.
As a family, ours is a very positive experience with Gills Top in Grassington! It is a difficult decision to go from independent living to accepting the need for 24-hour care, and my father-in-law is happy and settled there. Gills Top is an absolute Gem! From the moment he moved in, he has received every care and consideration; the transition made easier by the warm, inclusive & homely environment created by the staff for the residents. There are regular activities, in and out of the home; it is his decision to be included or not. He has his own room for privacy. The staff are kind and attentive and deliver a high standard of personalised care and are respectful of him as an individual. He has no complaints about the lovely home-cooked food served every day! He is very fortunate to live at Gills Top! We have peace of mind he is in a safe environment and all his needs are being met consistently. I would highly recommend Gills Top to anyone considering residential care for their next step in life!
I entered Gills Top for respite care following a foot operation - non-weight bearing plaster 6 weeks. During my 7 week stay the attention I received was very good, polite, helpful and caring staff with nothing too much trouble. They kept an eye on me 24/7. Food very enjoyable and varied, as were daily events for residents. No complaints except that I put on weight!
Very nice, things get looked into, management very friendly and staff activities are very good. All happy bacon sandwiches are good on Friday on the quiz day, always offer a drink.
The care team at Gills Top are fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble and the well-being and happiness of my mother are paramount. Her comfort, happiness and health are taken into account 24/7. The facility is calm with beautiful gardens for residents and visitors to enjoy and activities are organised for every morning and afternoon.; from visiting birds of prey to uplifting singers and entertainers The food is excellent and any dietary requirements are fully catered for. In summary, Gills Top is a happy place with a superb and very well-managed team. A great experience.
My visit to Gills Top was chosen after an operation to help with respite and recovery. I booked two weeks. I was pleased with my choice. The room was comfortably furnished with a TV and riser/recliner chair. The en-suite with basin and WC was easily accessible and roomy. The management were most welcoming and happy to help with liaising with the pharmacy. Visits from district nurses had been arranged. Although I stayed mostly in my room there were ample lounge facilities access to the garden, and outings and entertainment. The food was very good and the kitchen staff most helpful with any requirements. Visitors are welcome, and the centre of Grassington is within a short walking distance. It was indeed a pleasant visit and after 2 weeks I felt well enough to go home after having been looked after so well. The staff were all very friendly and reliable. I would certainly recommend Gills Top to anyone needing short or long term care.
Gills Top is an amazing care home. My dad has been a resident there for approximately 8 weeks and we as a family could not be happier with the staff and facilities that are provided. All the team are extremely professional and go over and above what is expected of them. Whilst Dad has been extremely poorly, nothing has been too much trouble, and every member of the team have gone out of their way to support his needs. We have regularly been updated with Dad’s condition and treatment either by phone, or personally when we have visited. Thank you Gills Top for everything you do.
My husband had to go into a care home because I was no longer able to care for all his needs. From the first day, he was in Gills Top, he settled down and never once asked to come back home. He liked his room, and he said that all the carers were kind to him, and they were kind to me and our family as well. His sudden illness took us all by surprise, he was taken to the hospital and ten days later he lost his fight for life.
Gills Top cared for me after a fall until I was well enough to return home. The team were kind and supportive helping me to regain my confidence. I enjoyed the home-cooked food and being able to choose how I spent my day. I particularly enjoyed taking part in the inter-home quiz and chatting with other residents. My room was cozy with a view of the country lane outside, and the friendly, helpful staff are good company.
I have visited many care homes and this is, by far, the best I have ever seen. The home is beautifully kept and immaculately clean. The staff are all amazing and you call tell they all enjoy their jobs, always happy and welcoming. Thank you so much for caring for Dad.
Nana enjoyed her respite stay at Gills Top. Enjoyed the company of the staff and residents as well as the activities on offer. Hoping she will regularly visit Gills Top whether for day care and some company or for further respite stays when wanting a little break. The staff have been great encouraging her to be involved and assisting her back into a better routine.
Gills Top have been amazing after my grandmother fell and broke her arm in early December. They quickly arranged her assessment and admission to a warm and supportive environment. She has regained her health, confidence and independence under their care, and is now ready to return home. She really enjoyed the food, and found the staff and other residents great company. The care has been exceptional, particularly in promoting her independence in a gentle and kind way. Nan was worried about being bored or isolated without her independence at home, but she has enjoyed entertainers, quizzes, a pantomime and daily activities to keep her busy; whilst still having the privacy of her room watching her favourite programs, using her computer or chatting to friends on the phone. We will always be grateful to the staff at Gills Top for helping Nan to return home and should she need support in the future she now has a much more positive view of care home life.
I cannot speak highly enough of this happy, clean and well-run care home. On every visit, the staff knew each resident's needs and fully cared for each of them in a truly person-centred way. The staff are knowledgeable, approachable and extremely caring.
Mum has now been in Gills Top for 5 weeks. The service and care we have experienced as a family is beyond words, from the time we had the introductory meeting through to the present. Nothing is too much trouble! Mum had blackouts when she first arrived which facilitated a medication review which hasn't been done in years and now fingers crossed her health has improved. Regarding personal care, Mum is more than happy with the support she gets, allowing her both independence and dignity whilst stepping in when help is required. The activities are wide-ranging including external singers, flower arranging, pamper sessions, cooking, through to a wide range of crafts; Halloween was very special. The family also love the social media page which keeps us up to speed with the activities of the day. Big shout out to the handyman who has helped with personalising Mum's room and to the management team. Last but not least the food is excellent, all freshly cooked with a wide variety of seasonal produce.
Over the past two years, on a regular basis my husband has received respite care at Gills Top. His care has always been exemplary and I have previously written a review to that effect. As I had injured my back in July of this year and was unable to care for my husband at home, he was admitted to Gills Top. Sadly, he died there at the end of August. I feel I must write another review in respect of myself as well as my husband - as usual the care he received was exemplary - all the staff at Gills Top are super friendly, wonderfully caring, amazingly patient and nothing is too much trouble. For the last ten days of his stay there, my husband was on end of life care and I was with him throughout that period. During that emotionally draining time I was totally cared for myself and indeed given accommodation so that I could be there for my husband on a continuous basis. I wish to thank all of the staff for being there for me as well as my husband. Keep up the good work - you’re all absolutely brilliant.
