View Full Details of Barchester Leeming Bar Grange Care HomeIn the 12 months since the new home manager was put in place Leeming Bar Grange has improved in many directions the whole team work very well as a unit. General care is excellent, cleanliness is outstanding. My mum has resided at Leeming for over 10 years which is testament to her care.
My Mum is so settled in this wonderful environment, the staff are all caring and attentive - some staff go above and beyond! The activities are well planned, varied and frequent, mum particularly likes the animals that visit the home and her trips out in the mini bus. Management always have time to listen to us. Mum is staying here now for the rest of her life, she considers it home and is very happy.
My father spent a short spell of respite care at Barchester Leeming Bar Grange over Christmas. The whole experience was very positive with a personable and helpful team and excellent leadership from the Manager. The pre-assessment exemplified the approach here, with great understanding shown and a very realistic 'can do' attitude. The home itself is quietly situated and well maintained with effective and diligent housekeeping, underpinned by a real sense of pride. Whilst not actually sampling any food myself, the Christmas dinner looked and smelt delicious! Many thanks to all the team for their hard work, sense of humour and dedication, very much appreciated.
My sister has been a resident for about eighteen months. When she arrived, she'd had a number of health problems, largely from Covid complications. When she arrived, she was made to feel welcome. Barchester Leeming Bar Grange Care Home was her home and that people were there to help her enjoy it. When she arrived, she had severe mobility difficulties. She couldn't get out of her chair without a great deal of help. She now can stand without assistance and walks with her 'walker' (and sometimes without). She is happy and engaged in activities. She knows she is well cared for and that Leeming Bar Grange cares about her as a person. I live almost 300 miles away and so don't see her as often as I might like. Leeming Bar Grange have been fantastic in keeping me involved through telephone calls and emails. All staff are approachable and welcoming and make time to discuss concerns or developments. Having been at Leeming Bar Grange yesterday I was again struck by how brilliant they are and how they are committed to making my sister's life as good as it can be. Thank you.
My dad went into respite at Barchester Leeming Bar Grange Care Home in September. It was a difficult decision to do, however, it was helped by the care and consideration by all staff towards not only my dad but to me and my sister. I can only thank them for their kindness, help and care in what has been a very difficult time for us as a family.
My mum has been with Barchester Leeming Bar Grange Care Home for over two years. Since day one, she has been showered with care, concern and support. The care has been excellent. She seems to be very happy here and at ease. The staff go out of their way to help her and make sure she is safe and listened to. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Leeming to anyone.
Our brother moved into Barchester Leeming Bar Grange Care Home on August 8th 2024, so our experience of the home is not extensive. We have been visiting the care home for about a week previous to our brother moving in and have, at all times, been treated with kindness and respect. We have been impressed with the homely feel of the place and the friendliness and caring nature of the staff. On day two of our brother's residence, there was a summer fete in the garden and again, we were impressed with the organisation and thought that had obviously been in place to enable the event to run seamlessly and everyone enjoyed the afternoon. Our brother has settled really well.
I recently visited the home for their summer fair and what a wonderful occasion it was! It was very clear that a lot of hard work had gone into the day and that staff very much care about giving residents full and happy lives. This has been clear to see each time I visit the home. Something else that stands out is how welcome I am always made to feel, nothing is ever too much trouble. And it doesn't go unnoticed!
I visit each week with one of my registered therapy dogs. We are also made to feel welcome and valued during our visits to the residents. The staff are kind and caring and know the residents well. They provide a range of activities for the residents to stimulate and engage them. I would highly recommend Leeming Bar Grange as a first-class care provider.
My dad was a resident here from April to November 2023. His overall experience, and that of his family as regular visitors, is negative. I've gone through the process of the complaints procedure recently and I am not satisfied with the explanations given regarding his care and the lack of communication from management in addressing important issues with us during his time there. I must stress there were some very positive experiences in the home and some of the carers were caring and did all they could. On some of our many visits there, we witnessed staff doing a fantastic job providing care/activities for residents. However, for my dad, on many occasions, it was not the case but I believe I cannot discuss details here. We found that the care described in Barchester publicity did definitely not match what my dad received. They couldn't meet his needs but no one from management spoke to us at any time to tell us. Communication didn't take place. Overall experience - awful.
My husband was at Barchester Leeming Bar Grange Care Home for two and a half years before he died. His last years were made very comfortable by the very caring and capable staff, several of whom he came to trust, like and respect, as I did. It was an attractive place to live with lovely gardens. The support I received during his last illness and after his death was second to none and very touching. I find it comforting eight months on to return to Leeming Bar now and then and am always welcomed warmly. The staff are like family.
Excellent afternoon in the garden weather was good. Staff took lots of care of residents applying hats and sunscreen, everything was presented very nicely and enough food for all. A most enjoyable afternoon.
Leeming Bar Grange put on a lovely teddy bears picnic, the weather was lovely, Mum really enjoyed it. Mum especially enjoyed the cake and Buck's Fizz.
Teddy bears' picnic. A delightful afternoon for residents and families having a lovely picnic in the sunshine to celebrate dementia awareness week. Sandwiches, cakes, bucks fizz and a great atmosphere. What more could peoole ask for? Staff, residents and families mixing and enjoying themselves. My mum loved it. Just one of the many things this fantastic care home offers it's residents.
Leeming Bar Grange is a superbly presented care home in every respect. The decor and fittings are first-class and the home resembles a very good quality hotel. The fabric of the home is matched by the level of service provided to both residents and their families. There is an ambience of friendliness and attentiveness on entering the building and this is reflected in the high quality of care provided. I have no hesitation in recommending Leeming Bar Grange to anyone who is seeking a luxury, caring environment for a loved one.
We live a long way from Yorkshire and so are unable to visit my mum very frequently, but when we do we are greeted at the home as if we were only there yesterday. Having worked in the care sector for over 50 years, I can see the love and care being given to my mum by a very professional caring staff. Mum has had a rough 12 months or more, but we can see that she is happy and being very well cared for. I especially like the social media postings as that is proof for me that she is happy and safe. I will never be able to thank you enough all for the care you give my mum, but here’s a little thank you.
Very helpful staff and excellent care provided. Very clean home and all the staff are very polite. Nothing is too much trouble, whether you are a visitor or a resident, always there to answer any questions that you may have.
My mum was a resident at Leeming Bar Grange for three and a bit years. She passed away on Christmas Eve. I have previously commented on the wonderful care Mum received throughout her time, but wanted to comment specifically on the end-of-life care. I live in France and have always been dependent on the excellent communication of the staff. When Mum was taken ill shortly before Christmas, I was kept up to date sensitively but also realistically. I got myself to LBG as quickly as possible and was able to spend the last 2 days of Mum's life at her side. Mum was treated with the greatest respect and dignity until the end. Even though it was Christmas and everyone was extremely busy, they all had time for me - making sure I had what I needed, keeping me company, checking in emotionally. I felt totally supported and cared for by every member of staff day and night. Thank you so much to everyone for making a horrendous time bearable.
A homely home, genuinely caring staff, from cleaners to the manager and all in between. Excellent activities and social interaction bespoke to the residents' likes and wishes. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. I feel completely rest assured that my mum is very well looked after in all aspects of her life and if there are any issues, health concerns, I am kept up to date. I recommend Barchester Leeming Bar Grange Care Home to everyone I encounter. Thank you for all you do, it is much appreciated.
After eight and a half years, my mum reached end of life. She was very well looked after and was happy throughout. In spite of a high turnover of managers, there is a hard core who remain loyal and have offered their 'love' and 'care' for Mum. This core of staff instills expectations amongst other staff and so I believe it is an excellent home. At the end of life, my mum was treated with utmost respect and dignity and the night staff were diligent in their duties and work very hard. I cannot thank all the staff enough for their care. Thank you.
