My mam was in The Terrace, all the staff were caring and understanding. There's always some form of activity going on. The home had a family feel to it. Sadly my mam passed away in the home and the staff were very supportive. I made some friends there which I still come to visit.
Dad was so well looked after at The Terrace. The staff were so wonderful with him and understood what made him happy, and what didn't, so were able to make his stay as good as it could have been. It's such a welcoming place for family to visit, and were happy to cater for my mum, sister and myself so we could have meals together with dad, which was always a special family time throughout our lives. The food is of a very high standard, which again made Dad happy. I highly recommend The Terrace.
The Terrace staff have been very welcoming and caring. They have done everything in their power to help my father settle in quickly. The food, surroundings and activities have contributed to a great improvement in my father’s outlook and general well-being. I highly recommend this care home!
We were delighted when Mum was offered residency at The Terrace. It had been highly recommended to us and from the outset it has met our every expectation. All staff, from senior management to the essential domestic team demonstrate endless patience and unfailing respect for the individual combined with a relaxed, caring attitude. Attention to detail is exemplary, generating a safe, secure environment in which Mum thrives. The Terrace is simply perfect for Mum's needs and for our peace of mind.
It was a very difficult decision that Dad could no longer manage at home. I looked around The Terrace and was very impressed by the presentation of the premises. From the very obliging manager and every member of staff, nothing is ever too much trouble. Everyone bends over backwards to accommodate both Dad and family needs.
Dad moved to The Terrace in early September. It's been a relief to find a care home that offers a genuinely homely atmosphere, with friendly local staff and proper home cooking. It's set in gardens, with outdoor seating and lovely views of Richmond Castle. Dad is in the dementia unit and seems to have settled well. Once a week mum visits him and they have lunch together - staff set them up a table for two, next to a big bay window looking onto the garden in the main wing of the building. It's a really nice way to keep a family ritual going, even when they are no longer living together full-time. We feel really lucky to have found such a well-run and loving home for Dad and we feel he's now in the best hands possible.
What an amazing home this is. The staff without exception are kind and helpful at all times. We and my family were very concerned about being able to visit but we can go any time at all. Perfect.
My dad is settled and happy. He is treated with kindness and dignity. The staff are incredible, kind, caring, patient and friendly. Communication with all the staff is great. The food is good and my dad has actually put on a small amount of weight and is really enjoying his food. The management team are fabulous. They know every single resident and take time to make each person feel special. We are always kept up to date with everything that is going on. My family and I couldn’t be happier that we have found the best place for my 90 year old dad. We can visit at any time and are always made welcome. Five stars all the way.
My mam came to The Terrace very frail and underweight. She thought she'd gone there to die (January 2023) but now she looks the best she has for months. She's gained weight, very happy and content. I cannot thank the wonderful team enough for the care, compassion and friendly care she receives (in fact we all receive). I would definitely recommend The Terrace to anyone needing help and care.
Very peaceful, happy environment, staff friendly and professional. Lovely to have a place to go and enjoy a visit with the family.
My father has been a resident at The Terrace for eight months now. The transfer from a hospital in another region was incredibly efficient, despite it being the week before Christmas! All the management are very organised and efficient - and also friendly. However busy they are, I always feel that they have all the time I need to talk to them and look after my father's welfare. This has been especially apparent recently as his medical needs have increased and they have put in a great deal of effort in organising and liaising with appropriate support teams, GP & pharmacy and in implementing recommendations. The care staff are also friendly and helpful, although clearly extremely busy and sometimes shorthanded which can sometimes lead to high standards slipping a bit - but any omissions are cheerfully and quickly righted by a call for support. The maintenance man has been most helpful, for example providing a fan almost instantly on request in the heatwave.
My wife has been a resident since the 10th May 2022, as part of a respite because of my medical condition I am now unable to give her the care required. On the whole, I am happy that my wife is being cared for and in a safe place. My wife is still very active and I would have liked the caring staff to keep her more occupied and also allow her more space to wonder. In her en-suite room, there is no towel rack for her to hang her hand towel after use. I have asked a few times about this missing item and have been reassured that one will be put in place - still waiting.
I was extremely upset that my grandfather had to live in a care home, separately from my grandmother to begin with. However, the staff and new management really helped put my mind at ease by showing such care and support towards my grandfather. I really love visiting now. I absolutely love the new resident therapy dog Roasco too! what a brilliant idea as animals brings such comfort. I believe my grandad has even started to finally settle in now, which is fantastic. Thank you to all the staff working hard to make us all feel welcome we visit almost daily.
It was lovely to see that Roscoe the Greyhound had been adopted by The Terrace Care Home. It most definitely makes it more homely for the residents.
I came and visted today and I noticed a dog. I was talking to a member of staff who has told me it is a home dog and that two residents wished to have a pet as they used to have a dog. I said what an amazing idea. While I was there the dog just walked around and the residents were patting him and stroking him, which he loved. He is such a gentle and calm dog. Well done.
Overall the standard of care is very good. However there seems to be a certain shortage of staff to attend to residents' needs and they sometimes have to wait for quite a while on occasions. I would welcome the opportunity of more communication to discuss any issues/queries with management or staff when they arise.
My Uncle was cared for very well in the care home by staff who were patient and helpful. Very dedicated. There was always a smile and a hello on entering the building, always made you welcome. However, there was often a whiff of urine as well. The room was always clean, bed made and clothes put away. Always trying to encourage Uncle to join in with activities which he was interested in, like going to the golf course for a drink as he liked golf.
I have found the staff at The Terrace to be very helpful to me and my mother. Always relaxed and adaptable even trough difficult times. This gives me confidence that the staff will do their best for my mum. I feel they are also supportive to me as a carer. I really appreciate this. Staff go the extra mile to help us out.
I found the place to be very clean and tidy at all times visiting. My brother was very happy there and well looked after. I found the staff took great pains to establish a good rapport with all patients and did their best to understand their different needs and treated all as individuals with distinct personalities with care, kindness and patience. We would not hesitate to recommend this home and indeed have already done so.
All residents are treated as individuals relevant to these needs. All staff are helpful, happy, welcoming and caring. The range of activities is excellent.
