Westwood took Mum with no notice as an emergency placement in March 2024. It was during a very stressful time for Mum and the family. The staff were fantastic in helping Mum to settle in her totally new environment and Mum enjoyed the stimulation of staff and making new friends. The staff are so patient letting Mum help with cleaning, tidying and other household tasks! These kind interactions have helped Mum to develop lovely bonds with the staff improving Mum's communication and reducing her stress and anxiety. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Residents are given food and drink on an individual basis, when required, such as sleeping late. Mum also enjoys lunch and supper eating with her friends. The home is flexible and works around family requests, nothing is too much trouble. I am grateful for everything they patiently do (or not do, if Mum chooses!) as she is as happy and content as she can be at Westwood. I always feel welcome when visiting. It's a lovely caring home.
My Mum has been a resident in Westwood Care Home since January 2020. The care she has received in that time has been excellent, during COVID I had no concerns as I was regularly updated by the manager. The food is always excellent and well planned with plenty of variety. There is always regular entertainment for the residents with residents families encouraged to attend. Residents' families are always made welcome by the staff, a legacy from the previous manager who was the manager of the home for 21 years. Some of the staff go above and beyond in their care for every resident. The home is badly in need of the decor updating, but the care is the most important thing and I would recommend Westwood Care Home to anybody.
My great auntie spent 7.5 years at Westwood Care Home. The staff were always very happy, friendly, professional and caring. The staff treated my aunt like family and were very welcoming when we visited. There is a very welcoming feeling to the home. Unfortunately, we lost my aunt, and the staff were nothing but amazing with her from start to finish. I will be forever grateful for everything they did, not just for my aunt but for her family too. Highly recommend Westwood Care Home.
Both my parents have been living in Westwood Care Home since the summer. Dad was admitted first and settled extremely quickly. At home, prior to moving into Westwood, he would spend most days sleeping. He suffers from dementia and therefore now requires around-the-clock care. Dad’s quality of life has vastly improved. It is very rare to see him sleeping and his mobility has improved significantly. The meals in Westwood are made to suit each resident’s needs and Dad has always loved his food. He is very happy and always smiling. The staff have been amazing with his care. Mum suffered a nasty fall and was left unable to walk when admitted to Westwood. After leaving hospital she had practically given up on life. She wasn’t eating and was mentally and physically in a bad place. Her turnaround has been remarkable. The staff have encouraged her to eat and she is now much stronger. She is happy and comfortable within her new surroundings. I could not ask for more. Thank you to everyone.
At Westwood, all the staff are really professional, caring and dedicated to making the resident's lives as easy, interesting and comfortable as possible. They all go the extra mile to make sure that everyone is looked after and that nothing is too much trouble even in difficult circumstances. The food is well cooked and delicious with a varied choice. The decor is a bit dated in the public areas and some of the rooms but they seem to be doing them up as and when possible. I would definitely recommend Westwood to anyone looking for compassionate and caring staff.
My mother is happy at Westwood and is treated very well by the staff who are caring and very conscientious and provide a lot of activities to do including taking her to the city for the day to visit her favourite shops so she really enjoys herself.
All staff are dedicated to giving a high-quality service. Everyone is so friendly and goes the extra mile to keep the atmosphere happy and offer things to do. The food is all home cooked, fresh products and varied. Fluids are on offer all day long ensuring the hydration levels are good. The only area that could do with attention is the overall decor in rooms and shared areas.
It's only been a few days that my dad has been here, but so far everything has been excellent. The staff have been so good with my dad and us. We have really struggled with the decision that he needs more care than we can give him and they understand this. So far everything is very positive and my dad is happy.
My experience is that the staff are always friendly and very, very supportive. Nothing is too much. Always there for my partner, can't do enough for him. Good getting him into doing things and playing games. It is an excellent care home, second to none.
The care home feels like one big family run by some amazing carers who actually do care. The food is delicious, again prepped and served by cooks that do care and cater for all needs. Improvements are required with the decor and furniture to make it more appealing and a good overall clean.
I was lucky enough to find my beautiful mum a place at Westwood, and whilst she lived there, she received nothing but the absolute best love and care she could have possibly have got, away from her blood family! I will be forever in their debt for how they looked after my darling mum at the end of her life.
Westwood care home looks after my mum and they are always informative and helpful, my mum is well looked after and I am confident in the care she is receiving. She is well fed and seems happy. The home seems to have improved over the last few months
The staff at Westwood showed a lot of care for Mum throughout her stay there. This was especially so in the final weeks of her life when we spent a lot of time with her and saw with our own eyes how dedicated the staff were.
Welcoming to visitors, and kind to residents. Good fresh food cooked on the premises. The home has a good atmosphere. Poor building maintenance when the heating was off for weeks in a very cold spell because the boiler needed replacing, also laundry machines regularly breaking down was not good. The situation has now been resolved and was no reflection on the staff who coped very well. The home needs a lift!
