View Full Details of Haxby Hall Care HomeThis updates a review that I wrote last August. I've been delaying a further review to allow time for improvement, but now feel that I cannot delay any longer. I do still hope things improve as there are positive aspects to the home.... a new chef, in post this year is bringing about positive change to the menu for example, but I have recently had to raise concerns about staffing levels, and multiple issues that boil down to poor communication. I do feel that there is an intention to improve, and on the whole Mum is happy, but much of that is down to my proximity to the home and therefore her daily contact with me. Recently there have been more agency staff in the building at nights and on one night in particular only one person in the building was actually based at HH. I was disappointed not to see management stepping in in that situation. There are carers who care... this home could be so much better but it needs major improvement in systems, communication and management
My little Mum had 5 weeks of Respite in Haxby Hall and the whole team was just fantastic! The manager, was so supportive of our situation and just so real, there is nothing pretentious about this place or the lovely staff. All of them genuinely cared about us and when mum was really poorly and confused they were so gentle and sincere in the way they cared for her, lovely, solid, kind, funny, experienced team of first class staff. (only thing I would ever change is the noise in the corridors from the call bell and maybe get some dementia friendly tv remotes)- Cannot thank them enough for being the best.
Since my friend moved in the care of Haxby hall she has received amazing care in the most wonderful surroundings. The team have been amazing. A very big shout out to one of the staff members, who has encouraged my spirited friend to socialise more and leave her room to help her mental health. Another staff member has also been very caring and helpful when my friend has needed support. Tea is a favourite of my friend and she reliably tells me the ladies do a very good job of it. 100% recommended to others .
This was my husband's second time for respite care. He was welcomed back so warmly and kindly and settled in quickly. The surroundings are beautiful, the staff are kind, caring and efficient. From the minute you walk in, to be greeted by the lady on reception, to the managers, the carers, the chef/cook, just everybody. You know that this is a good place and you can leave your loved one in safe hands. The fact that this was my husband's second respite stay at Haxby Hall and has already agreed to a third when I need a break, says it all.
I attended the Annual Staff Awards social afternoon at Haxby Hall Care Home with my elderly Mum (resident) Jan 25. I was impressed with the hard work and dedication of the Management and Carers working together to provide an excellent buffet and party afternoon for the residents and visitors. Well done.
I find the whole experience from a family members point of view very positive indeed. It's a beautiful care home that I'm so happy to see my Mum in. It's very clean and the staff are very attentive to both me and my Mum. I've found communication very good.
My parent moved into Haxby Hall shortly after it opened. The transition from living in their own property to living in a care home was never going to be easy but Haxby Hall is a warm and welcoming environment with a staff team who do all they can to ensure that life for residents is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Any issues raised have been promptly responded to and I feel confident that my parent is being well looked after. Before moving there accessing a GP had been nigh impossible but now they get proper access to a GP and their chronic health issues are now well managed. Food has been the only disappointment, meals can be very good sometimes but the choice and quality could be much better. Management is fully aware of the situation and working to resolve it with the appointment of a permanent head chef. The decision to move to a care home was not easy but Haxby Hall has been the right choice for my parent and the whole family.
Superb new building, fixtures and fittings. Spacious rooms, kept clean and tidy. Staff helpful, some more assertive than others. At times residents have to wait too long for assistance. Facilities/activities been poor due to staff shortages therefore not enough "stimulation"/interaction for residents, at times. Food on the whole is good but again hit/miss with kitchen staff. Early days still, but needs more "daily staffing" levels.
