View Full Details of Armstrong HouseWe said a very sad farewell to our neighbour and our friend when she moved into Armstrong House last year and we have visited her regularly since then. What a difference this care home has made! When she first arrived she was low in spirit, energy and well-being but every time we have visited since we have seen an improvement. The building is warm, comfortable and inviting, the staff are welcoming and always ready to help. They demonstrate real care and attention and our friend has blossomed in this caring environment. She approached Christmas still unwilling to leave the building to be with family, but she did go to them at Christmas and since then she has been to a particular pop group themed afternoon in another care home dressed in a themed outfit! and enjoyed every minute. We visit in the morning as she is usually busy in the afternoon involved in various different activities. This is a care home and they certainly do care, well done to all staff concerned.
Armstrong House inspires me with confidence and helps me relax knowing that my mam is in the best place for her needs. I used to feel guilty about not having her live with us, but I know now that she would have been bored and frustrated having to fit in with our routines. At Armstrong House, she sees a real variety of people, residents as well as staff and visitors and we are able to visit regularly. She particularly likes being included in all the activities which I feel really helps to keep both her cognitive and social skills working hard, pushing back the inevitable final memory loss. I love the warm welcoming nature of the place where everyone seems to know both our names. A real treat has been to send social media links to relatives so they can see all the things she's been engaged in as she isn't able to remember to tell them. She also likes being asked for her opinion on the care she receives and she is really pleased to have one of the staff escorting her to a big family event soon.
My Mother was a resident at Armstrong House for over 2 years. She had an accident, which resulted in her being admitted to the hospital. I was not informed, and she was discharged from the hospital three weeks later. I was still not informed. She then passed away, I still was not informed. I was eventually informed 3 weeks after her death when I visited her on Xmas Eve.
My brother has been in several care homes for respite while his wife has a much-needed break but this care home seems to know how to get the best out of him very good and caring staff and facilities would definitely recommend.
All staff I have dealt with so far have been extremely friendly and helpful with any information or questions I have had. Dad has only been in Armstrong House for 2 weeks but so far our experience has been very good. Staff interact with Dad excellently making him laugh and this has enabled him to settle in very easily. Dad has a lot of toilet accidents and his floor gets very wet/sticky/dirty/smelly and although we appreciate the cleaners can’t be in his room 24/7, we do feel it may need a little more attention than the norm. We have offered to clean/mop ourselves but we have been informed that staff will see to it. When Dad is asleep he salivates a lot staining his pillowcase and duvet and he spills things due to shaking with Parkinson’s, and feel his bed may need changed more than normal. Overall, so far very happy with Dad's care.
Such a lovely place, the rooms are lovely and very clean. The food looks really appetising and all the staff are so welcoming and genuinely seem to care about the individuals they look after. I asked if I could bring in my dog to see my brother and they were happy to let me do this. Overall it’s a lovely little place, like a little hotel.
My dad is in Armstrong House. He joined Mam who was already residing there on the nursing unit. My dad is on the Dementia unit. Sadly my mam passed away in February leaving Dad there alone. At first, I thought it would be awful and Dad would find it hard. I shouldn't have worried at all. The staff who take care of my Dad are the most wonderful, caring, professional, loving, people I have ever encountered. The time and patience they give to Dad is wonderful. They have learned how the Dementia has affected Dad and have developed a way of dealing with issues that sometimes arise. The unit is clean lively fun but safe. There are always activities to join in and music or films are always available. When my Dad developed this most devastating illness I couldn't see any light at the end of the tunnel and I wondered what would become of him. I had a heavy heart for months but now when I walk out of Armstrong House I walk out with a smile on my face knowing Dad's ok.
The care of my mother, up to and including her final days, was exemplary. Staff made every effort to ensure her comfort and to support her family. Carers were continually friendly and helpful, despite ever-increasing demands on their time. Thank you to the staff and management at Armstrong House.
I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the care offered at Armstrong House. My grandmother has been cared for impeccably for 3 years and whilst her physical care has been to an extremely high standard, seeing the emotional care and attention paid to her and the way the staff have gotten to know her as an individual is amazing. They see to her individual needs, making sure she’s well fed with all her favourites, whilst making sure that she receives any medical care she needs too. The warmth from the staff has been heartwarming and second to none and as a family we can’t thank them enough.
My mother-in-law moved to Armstrong House in October 2023 and I can't fault it. She is well cared for physically and emotionally by the wonderful professional staff. It is lovely to see her partaking in activities and enjoying the entertainment provided on a regular basis. She is well fed with a good variety of nutritional food and like all of the residents treated in a respectful and dignified manner.
This is a lovely caring home where they have the resident's best interests at heart. A welcoming environment with amazing hard-working staff and management. My husband is very happy and well cared for, which as a family, puts our minds at rest.
Mum was in this fabulous care home from March 2020 on the very first lockdown day. Staff were great with her until I was able to visit myself once restrictions eased. Would go and visit every day and got to know alot of the residents as well as the staff. All round nice caring people and a welcoming home, would definitely recommend.
My mother-in-law has been a resident on the general nursing floor since the end of September 2023. She is really happy which makes us happy too. Can't fault anything, she has a brilliant social life due to all of the activities that are on. The staff all seem very happy and friendly. Would recommend this home without hesitation.
During my mother's time in Armstrong House I've seen a massive change in her. Her cleanliness was a main concern due to a previous home. Armstrong House has been fantastic, with baths and showers every day. Her 1 to 1 with carers has been fabulous. Thank you to the person for doing Mam's hair. Fab. I can't really pick a favourite carer although I have a soft spot for one in particular and of course one other. In fact, you are all my favourites. Thank everyone for your hard work and dedication and for making my life happier with less worry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The staff at Armstrong House go above and beyond to deliver a fantastic standard of care to the residents. My mother-in-law resides there and is so happy and content. She recently had a birthday and a lovely cake was provided. Armstrong House is a big extended family where residents are valued and the staff work so hard, a truly devoted team. My Mam passed away two years ago at Armstrong House and the love, care and dignity she received towards the end of life will always stay with me, and the gratitude I have for the fantastic staff cannot be measured, they are simply the best.
This is a 5 star accommodation.
My mother had dementia and her home was okay. But this one that my brother-in-law is in is far superior. It's 5 star.
I find the management and staff are very efficient, always helpful and more. The relationships between the staff are very good. I am pleased we have placed my sister in Armstrong House it helps to know she is well cared for, thank you.
My mum has settled into Armstrong House surprisingly well after a long stay in hospital. She feels well cared for and supported. I have found that if there have been any issues, they have been dealt with promptly. All staff are friendly and approachable, and I feel reassured that she is being cared for well.
I would just like to commend Maggie and her team for the amazing care they give my little mam. I have never seen her so relaxed and happy. They all go above and beyond to take care of not just mam but of us too. Special thank you to the staff, you really are angels without wings. Keep up the amazing work and thank you for making a difficult time in our lives that little bit easier.
