View Full Details of Silver Howe Care CentreLovely staff, well cared for.
Very friendly, approachable, always there for the residents and family.
I am satisfied and happy here. The staff are excellent and look after me well.
My sister was in this care home for four years. She was extremely well looked after. During Cvoid, there was no visiting, but we got regular phone calls, which we, and my sister, much appreciated. We never had any reason to feel concerned about her care.
My mum has lived at Silver Howe for a year and a half, choosing this home after much research. As a family, we are very pleased that she made that choice as she is happy, comfortable and well looked after. Mum’s needs have increased during the time she has been there, and the staff have managed this change with kindness and professionalism. We are always made to feel welcome when we visit, and the staff are happy to answer any queries we may have.
Mum was looked after by Silver Howe for nearly five years. The staff were always kind and helpful. She was happy with everyone and the care she was given. We were able to visit when we wanted to (except Covid, of course).
My dear friend has been in care for a while. Visited her from my home in Scotland. The Care Center makes me feel very welcome. Could see the high standard of care provided. Meals look excellent, snacks and drinks provided too. Room was spotless and comfy, and staff popped in regularly to see if my friend needed anything. Mr friends appearance was tidy, dressed well and comfortable in her chair sitting up watching TV. Overall, a very pleasant visit to see her, and she was happy and comfortable.
My mum chose Silver Howe, and I must say that she made an excellent choice. From the first day she arrived to her end of life care, it has been second to none. Covid was extraordinary times, and staff went the extra mile to ensure regular contact by other methods. As my mum's health deteriorated, staff ensured she was kept safe and retained her dignity. She built up a great rapport and friendship with staff and residents. Myself and family cannot thank the staff enough. As a family, we have and will highly recommend Silver Howe for loved ones.
My mother-in-law entered Silver House in November 2019 due to suffering from dementia and unable to be in her own home. She had a nice room, excellent food, and very kind and caring carers to look after her. Unfortunately, with the onset of Covid, visiting was curtailed, and any entertainment stopped. The carers did their very best in difficult times, and unfortunately, she passed away peacefully in her sleep on 27th January. A carer was with her.
Excellent staff, good food and very professional towards the care of my mother. A quiet place, and a very warming and understanding staff that go that little bit extra. I can’t comment on activities due to Covid restrictions at the time.
My dad went into Silver Howe when he was no longer able to look after himself, even with relatives and carers visiting and meals delivered. He was 96 at the time, getting more and more frail and needing full-time professional care. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff I met. They went out of their way to be kind and form a relationship with my dad and not just treat it as a job. Eventually, my dad passed at 97, and the care he received and the way we were treated when visiting near the end helped us all through a difficult time. The way my dad responded to staff was clear evidence of the bond he had formed with them and the kindness they had shown him. I will always remember Silver Howe fondly.
Lovely place to be if you cannot be at home anymore. I have friends old and new. Good food and plenty of it.
My aunt moved to Silver Howe in May 2017 after she was unable to return home due to her frailty. Her home town had no vacancies. She has a lovely room with a large window looking to the gardens and the fells. She is cared for very well and treated individually as a person in a caring environment. She can now only eat pureed food and is bed bound but she is treated with great respect and a good sense of humour. More activities are now on offer and the new refurb is lovely. All of the staff provide an excellent level of care and i'd recommend this home.
My father was resident at Silver Howe for respite care over Christmas 2018. Staff and residents alike were always welcoming and visiting is encouraged at any time of day or night. Sadly, my father became poorly after New Year but the care he received during this time was fantastic - I cannot praise the staff enough for the compassion, respect and dignity shown to my father and also to my family at this time. The staff work so hard and it is evident that they truly care for the residents - I feel that this is also evident in the atmosphere when you visit Silver Howe. I would not hesitate to recommend Silve4r Howe!
The resident who I visit weekly is a parishioner at my church, what relations she has are at different areas of the country and she seems enjoys me visiting. The staff are very helpful to me when I visit.
I have been visiting Silver Howe over the past 25 years and seen many changes. Since the manager came here Silver Howe is now 'the best in town'! The level of staffing has increased with obvious effect. The care is very good, along with the food. And now the addition of the activities coordinator. As a retired nurse I have worked in care homes and visiting many in Cumbria and I am very happy that my Aunt is looked after so well. Thank you.
After 3 months of my mum being a resident at Silver Howe, I have been very impressed with the staff and their personal and supportive interaction with her and other residents, the feeling of all being part of the "family" is very apparent. The home itself has a real homely feel with its layout, decor and furniture and has a really welcoming atmosphere. Staff have in-depth knowledge and understanding of communicating and working with those who have dementia. They are also very keen to develop their various innovative activities to stimulate memories or conversation. This has directly impacted on my mum whose mental capacity has noticeably improved in this environment. This has really impressed me. On top of that, the food provided by the team of chefs is very high-quality food with plenty of variety of menu choices and flavours, fresh vegetables and home-made soup daily. I have eaten meals there with my mum and can vouch for this high standard of food.
The care I receive is excellent, the staff do everything for me. They help me so much, I would not be able to live alone. The manager is special, she is my rock. Everyone is brilliant. The home is perfect. The staff have a good sense of humour. This is my home. My friends and family can visit anytime. They can be with me for meals.
Happy, Pleasant atmosphere, staff friendly and happy to help, management are great and always there to listen. Mother's happy in the home and settled and feels at home. The food is fresh and all cooked on the day lots of variety. Stress-free environment always updates me if there is a problem or if they need me.
Lovely staff, well cared for.
