My 87-year old mother needed to recuperate before returning home following a knee replacement operation. Twin Oaks provided excellent support and care for two weeks.
My mother, having had a long stay in hospital after a serious illness was no longer able to live in her own home. We wanted to find a home locally so we could visit regularly. Twin Oaks had been highly recommended to us by several people and fortunately, a room was available. My mother was visited and assessed in hospital by one of the managers. That was three and a half years ago and we are so pleased that we chose Twin Oaks. It is small and owner managed so the residents fell as if they are living in a normal home and are part of a family. Any visitors are welcomed, offered refreshment and put at their ease. My mother is happy and says all the staff are kind to her. She receives the greatest care given to the highest standards with love and respect by the hard-working owners, managers and their team. We couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you Twin Oaks.
Early this year, our dear friend of many years found she was unable to look after herself and asked for assistance in finding a way to get help at home, unfortunately, after numerous attempts to keep her at home, we realised that the best way forward was to look for a care home locally in Windermere. A recommendation for Twin Oaks was given by a friend and on our first meeting, you could feel that this was going to be the place. The attention to detail, like an assessment, was carried out and a trial period was agreed. What a fantastic relief, when our friend informed us, that she felt she had won the lottery by being at Twin Oaks. Everything you could think of when looking after someone seems to have been thought about and almost taken care of before it is asked for. The staff are just great, it is just like a home from home. The care our friend is receiving is certainly by far second to non. Thank you Twin Oaks for the attention and care you are giving to our dear friend.
My mum has been a resident at Twin Oaks for several years now. She has been treated with the greatest of care and dignity. My family are all indebted to the managers and their superb team for the love, care and respect they show to mum every single day. They have also been well supported by skilful and attentive input from the District Nursing Team.
This is a small residential care home which is what attracted my aunt to it initially. It was known to her and was in a locality that she wished to remain in and is familiar with. She constantly says how kind the staff are and if she asks for anything or wants something doing, it always gets done. The staff are always welcoming when I and other family members visit and if we are not taking my aunt out, they always fetch us a cup of coffee. It is always difficult when a family member needs to go into full-time care after living an independent life, but my aunt always says, if she cannot be in her own home, she couldn’t think of anywhere she would rather be than Twin Oaks. I don’t feel able to answer the questions on activities and value for money. My aunt did not wish to be anywhere where activities were provided and she feels it is more like being part of a family at Twin Oaks. As to value for money, I do not have any dealings with the financial side of my aunt’s life.
My mother, who is blind, and is aged 105, has been a resident at Twin Oaks for almost 5 years. She enjoys the highest standards of care in every respect and we could not wish for anything better for her.
