View Full Details of Lambton HouseMy mam came to Lambton House on the 31st Dec 2024 and was immediately made to feel so welcome. All of the staff are wonderful and so lovely to her. Being geographically far from Lambton House (I live in the South of France) and as my mam has more trouble communicating on the phone these days, I really do find the social media posts most useful. A huge thank you also for all the photos and messages I receive to let me know my mam is getting on. There are so many different activities and events going on and my mam is always encouraged to join in and do what she can handle. My mam seems happy and I know she is safe, being in good hands thanks to the kind and compassionate carers. This is very comforting when I leave my mam to head back to France. Lambton House is a happy place to be as everyone is so welcoming and smiling. Thank you so very much for your devotion to the residents and for all of the energy and personal investment. Challenging work which is much appreciated.
The overall care is exceptional. All my relative's needs are fully catered for. The care home provides excellent entertainment and interactive sessions with residents. Staff are always willing to help and extremely professional.
After living alone in her bungalow for 19 years, it naturally took my mum, who has dementia, some time to settle into Lambton House. But with friendly, kind and dedicated staff showing such professional understanding of dementia, they helped to ease the pain of placing a loved one into care. Roll on to December 24 and my family have found Mum as happy as she can be with her condition. Her anxiety is dealt with so well that it swiftly passes. All the home's many organised activities and musical events in the lounges or the garden by the beautiful lodge-style tea rooms bring out Mum's fun side and her love of dancing and singing. After being alone for so long, this is wonderful to see. Mum has a whole new chapter to her life and Lambton keep us informed of any issues along the way. Living 80 miles away, this has been invaluable for me personally. In conclusion, it's the quality of care that comes top for me at Lambton House and it is a privilege to write this review.
It's never an easy decision when you need to find care for your loved ones, but we were recommended Lambton House by a friend. We had visited quite a few other homes but we knew as soon as we spoke on the phone to Lambton House and visited it in person, that this was the right place for Dad. It was a home from home for him, he immediately settled well and loves getting involved in the multitude of activities they run but they also respect that he likes his own space and he can retreat to his room. I live 6 hours away, so it's great that the home and the staff keep me up to date by sharing photos. We recently had my sister's wedding and Dad is unfortunately not mobile, but the staff at Lambton House understood how important it was for us to have Dad at the wedding and they did everything to make sure he was and worked with us in partnership to make a plan. I couldn't recommend Lambton House more, it brings me great comfort knowing Dad has such fantastic care.
I can never thank all the staff for all the help, support, care, patience and kindness that each and every one of the staff showed to my dad. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I know that Dad receives the best of care and is so well looked after.
Living some distance from my Uncle meant I was worried about losing contact with him when he moved into care. I need not have worried as staff members, such as one staff member, not only ensure my telephone calls are clearly heard by my uncle, but they also ensure he is prepared and it's the best time to call. This staff member also videoed my uncle opening presents from us, so we felt we were part of his experience. It brought a tear to my eyes. Social media coverage of all the incredible activities brings a smile to my face seeing my uncle enjoying his life and being the daft, smiling person he is daily I feel part of his life and it means I have things to talk to him about. The care home has recently made my cousin's wedding especially special for her. Ensuring my uncle was dressed, ready and prepared to walk her down the aisle, taking time to help him enjoy the special event. Wow. My visit to the home shows a peaceful, happy home with residents as individuals and their wants and needs understood.
What a fantastic place. I could not have chosen a better home for my 81-year-old father. The staff are so friendly and caring. It is like one big family. Facilities are excellent with a lovely big outdoor space, garden/tearoom etc. and good size comfortable rooms. Staff provided everything my dad needed.
My sister who has Alzheimer's moved into Lambton House in April this year and has settled in better than we could ever have believed. The facilities and activities are excellent, my sister particularly enjoys the tea room and gardens which are beautiful and well-maintained. She can join in with activities but isn't pressured, often preferring to watch. All members of staff are polite and friendly to visitors and the care and patience shown to residents is exemplary. I can't thank everyone at Lambton House enough for what they have done to make my sister's life the best it can be, she has gained weight and appears relaxed and happy despite her illness. Highly recommended.
Following our mum moving to Lambton House in April we have been overwhelmed with the level of care, support, facilities, and attention not only to our family members but to all residents. Lambton House has a fabulous activity program, especially throughout the summer, which we as family members have been a part of and really enjoy what the staff arrange. Our mum is a resident due to her Alzheimer's /Dementia diagnosis and seems to have settled very well. Obviously, this is down to the way Lambton House is run and we would like to pay compliments to all staff who go over and above in their duties. During these very unsettling circumstances what a family needs is the peace of mind that their loved one is happy, safe, and content and we feel we have this requirement at Lambton House. Many thanks to all.
Absolutely recommend Lambton! My mother-in-law with Alzheimer's moved here 3 years ago. She went downhill fast in another care home but thanks to the positive care and attention that management and staff put into seeing and understanding her individual personality, she thrives here: she isn't just another old person, instead they understand little things about her that while small, are so significant to her wellbeing and her mental health. Staff work so hard to provide quality daily stimulation. Entertainment also really caters for difference from poetry to music to animal visits. The lovely tea room space, little snug bar and library also all make life as enriching as possible. My mother-in-law loves being outside and it has beautiful grounds, but is also a stroll from the park and a 5-minute drive from the nature reserve where she goes every week for her family visit. Before Alzheimer's, when visiting friends she said she wanted to end up here because the staff were so great. She made the right choice!
My mother became a resident in March 2023 and since then her care has been excellent. She has improved greatly, gained weight and remains alert despite being in her 90s. The care home facilities are excellent with superb grounds and activities. The staff are excellent also and assist us with any questions. As a family, we feel lucky that mother has this standard of care.
Due to being geographically distant from the care home, and Dad’s limited communication skills, I find the social media updates really helpful. When I am able to visit, I am always made welcome. Dad seems to be happy and I know that he is safe. The carers seem to be kind and compassionate, I know it is a challenging role.
Very homely, welcoming environment. Staff tremendous, good care. Carers and activity coordinators excellent. Plenty of activities and entertainment for the residents.
My sister-in-law's contact and experience with Lambton House goes back a number of years - including periods of respite, and latterly, full-time care. Over this period of time I have found all staff to be professional, courteous and extremely caring. Often putting themselves out to even answering queries whilst during their own, well-deserved, personal leave. Recently they have managed a very sensitive transition with great skill and care - and I am extremely grateful for that. They employ a sensitive approach to the necessary/essential security of the centre assuring the safety and well-being of all of their residents. The home itself is very well-appointed in a tranquil part of Durham County. It has beautiful gardens, with tea rooms, that are extremely well looked after so that residents, carers and visitors can enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and, especially lovely, the company of horses in the adjoining fields. A special thank you Lambton House for all of your care and understanding.
Not at all impressed with the standard of care. Unhelpful manager was unwilling to take my friend's needs into account even though she had capacity. They wouldn't discuss her needs with me as I was only a friend even though my elderly friend had capacity and wanted me to be involved in her care. But on the day she was due to go home, the transport wasn't available and they had cleaned out her room so she had nowhere to go. Guess who had to get her home with no help at all. They couldn't get her out of that home quick enough. Absolutely shocking considering how much she was paying for her care. They were quick to accept my input when they needed to get her home but didn't want to hear my input to help her while she was at the home. I'm sorry to say that I would never advise anyone to become a resident at this home, it is more like a prison than a care home.
After searching and reviewing many different care homes for my Mum I found Lambton House following a recommendation from a friend. Mum has now been at Lambton House for 2 months and has thrived during that time. The care and range of activities have exceeded our expectations and it is quite clear that the care of residents is prioritized. Activities are inclusive and Mum has engaged in them all surprising us with the range of things she is willing to try or experience. Mum is very much looking forward to the summer when she can get out into the gardens more often. Staff are always there to support and are aware of Mum's needs and are so friendly and welcoming. Lambton House is very well managed, led, and organized which has made Mum's transition from living at home to living in a care home so easy - thank you to all the Lambton House team!
My mam arrived at Lambton House Care Home June 2023, if anyone in our position can imagine it was a difficult journey for us all. To choose a home that would possibly become my mam's home, but luck was on our side as the home itself is so fitting and the welcome we all received the first day on arrival and still remains to continue was so thoughtful, helpful and very supportive. It was a sunny day and we were fortunate to spend our afternoon in the surroundings of the beautiful gardens, tearoom and the residents' bar entertained by a talented singer, it was an exceptional day. The tearoom and bar are places we use, it’s a pleasure to enjoy as well as the beautiful gardens, especially in the spring and summer. I have left the very best to last, the management and staff who arrange the very best of care within Lambton House, every member of staff within the home is friendly, thoughtful and so caring, if we have a problem to share they listen and assist immediately, a big thank you to all the staff.
Mum entered the home at the end of March 2023. She was made to feel welcome from the outset. The carers are marvellous - they are lovely to Mum and genuinely want to take care of her. Activities are appropriate; they are many and varied to cater for everyone. The carers encourage Mum to join in the activities that she is able to manage.
Dad has been in Lambton House for almost six months now, the level of care he receives is exceptional, I have no doubt that after visiting many other homes that Lambton House is unique in the care the residents receive, various daily activities, professional singers, which in summer months families can enjoy, lovely bedroom, the pit stop bar and the tea room are an added bonus. Dad loved going on a visit that was on his wish list. The staff also give up their free time to attend some events and take the residents out. Food was always nice but following the appointment of a new chef it’s outstanding, would be a nice idea if we could purchase some of the homemade cake to have with a cuppa when visiting which could generate funds for the resident's activities. I am kept well informed about Dad's well-being and feel I could contact Lambton at any time to chat about Dad. All the staff are dedicated and hard-working, with the care for the residents at the core of everything they do.
Standard of care is excellent. Food is very good. All staff are excellent.
