View Full Details of The Lawns Care HomeThe staff are very professional, and polite and showed nothing but more than love and compassion for my Mother throughout her short stay. Will be forever grateful to everyone.
Overall my mother is happy at the home but I feel she needs a bit more stimulation as she always says she is bored. I am not aware of any activities that are done on a regular basis.
On occasions, staff training appears to be lacking as individual knowledge of residents needs by carers. This has to be due to the apparent high staff turnover.
My mother has been a resident at The Lawns Care Home for 6 months and the care to date has been very good. The staff all know her by name and understand her condition - the care she receives is beyond anything I could provide. Mum seems content in herself and doesn't want for anything and has never complained about a thing so she seems happy. On the occasions when I have needed to interact with senior carers about anything I have always been well-received and listened to and any issues have been dealt with satisfactorily.
My overall experience of my Brother's care at The Lawns Care Home has been very good up to now. I have nothing negative to say about the care he is getting and the staff are excellent.
My mother has been a resident for the last 8 years and is very happy at the Lawns. We are happy with the care she receives and know that she is well thought of by all and is loved. The staff work hard to provide a safe and happy environment for residents.
My mother is a resident of The Lawns Care Home. I visit her once a week to take her out for some fresh air. I frequently find her in one of the day rooms playing bingo, or dominos and generally engaging with other residents and carers in a friendly group. All the staff know her name and wish her well when we go out and ask how her afternoon was when when we return. I do feel they all have her best interests at heart and I am happy to leave in their care. Most importantly when I ask her about her stay at The Lawns she is completely contented and worry-free.
My aunt has been here for some time now and really settled well. Staff take time to interact with residents having a conversation and a laugh not just attending to their needs. It is clean and well organised and maintained to a good standard.
Overall it is a welcoming atmosphere. Staff are always helpful and polite. Residents would benefit from more activities to help boost their morale, as a more social gathering within the care home and involving more residents to do so and allowing residents' families to bring their pet's etc into the care home and also arranging to plan days out with the residents.
For the last 5/6 years The Lawns has looked after my dear Mother with exceptional care. In September this year my dear Mother passed away and The Lawns were incredibly caring and sensitive throughout my Mothers's final days. The carers spent almost all day every day right until the very end. At such a sad time for our family everyone at The Lawns gave well over 100% care to my Mother. I can't even think of anything to complain about, I have the highest regard for all the carers and a special thanks goes to the manager who was a constant comfort. I will never forget what they did for my dear Mother right to the end, I can't thank them enough.
My Dad has been at The Lawns for over 6 months now and is very comfortable and has everything he needs there. The room is spacious and kept clean. He likes the food and endless cups of tea. His medication, haircuts, chiropody etc. is all taken care of and administered accordingly. He also likes all the staff and the games especially Play your cards right. He has definitely improved health-wise in his time there and being on a ground floor has enabled him to get about a lot easier. Basically I am very happy as well with everything and everyone from the Manager down. Excellent all round.
My mother has been at The Lawns for 3 years. Initially she didn't want to be there after losing her independence but as the months went on she came to call several of the staff her friends and every time I visit she says how nice they are to her, and believe me she will say if she's not happy! I couldn't have taken as good care of my mam as the staff at The Lawns do, and it gives me peace of mind to know she is safe. My mam chooses not to take part in activities. I recommend The Lawns Care Home.
As Mum aged and was affected by dementia both the management and staff were superb and made her final days much more bearable for both Mum and the family. Sadly Mum passed away on 1 September but throughout her time with you everything and every aspect of her care was excellent.
When entering the care home to see my mother the care home staff and the nursing staff are always friendly and attentive. From what I have witnessed the care home staff show compassion, care/dignity to my mother when dealing with her needs. There are are few areas where attention to detail could be improved, these are; 1). Making regular checks on my mother to change her more frequently regarding incontinence issues. 2). A number of times whilst visiting I have noticed prolonged exposure to room alarms going off and responses to these alarms has been infrequent. 3). Staffing levels/having available staff could improve the above. 4). Personal clothing. Many times I have purchased clothes for my mother and these tend to get mislaid after they have been worn only once. I have noticed my mother wearing different clothes which do not belong to her. When looking for her clothes I have noticed they are not in her room. The laundry process could be enhanced as name tags are in place.
My Aunt says she is spoilt and looked after and that she is very lucky. The staff engage well with her and she loves to hear about their families and what they're up to. She is encouraged to join in activities and enjoys having her hair done When unwell, staff are quick to arrange for the Matron to assess or NHS111. The cleaners are on the go all the time keeping everywhere clean and fresh. The boarded-up doors look unsightly which is a shame on the EMI unit and the doorstop on room door does its own thing which is frustrating when my Aunt wants her door open and it keeps shutting randomly. Overall I am very happy that she feels loved and settled especially as she is currently unwell. She does, however, miss being able to make herself a coffee or hot chocolate especially when I visit and the coffee machine downstairs isn't always working and there's not one upstairs. Staff, however, will make one for us both.
I visit my uncle regularly, my family are all happy and know he is very settled at The Lawns Care Home. It has a very welcoming feeling when walking in. The residents are all chatty and appear happy. When walking in, it always seems very busy with activities going on! My family enjoys the Thursday afternoon mens group. He is difficult to please but looks forward to this. Also, regular entertainment in the home for special occasions.
The rooms are tailor-made for the residents who live here - with en suite toilet and washing facilities. My husband is always clean and well-presented, as is his room and bed linen. He has the services of a barber, chiropodist and nurses with experience. The food is cooked in-house and looks good enough to eat. The staff I cannot praise highly enough, always cheerful and caring and doing their utmost to care for people in often difficult circumstances. Well done.
My husband and I have resided at the home for the last seven months during our stay we have been very happy. The place is clean, tidy and well organised. Meals are good and a happy atmosphere exists between staff and residents and it is not regimental, more like home and staff encourage the residents to participate in activities which we enjoy.
I am a daughter of a resident who was placed here after his fall and I live in Leeds, plus my husband had a major operation so I couldn't get back to Darlington to look after my dad. So placed him on respite. He has come on leaps, much healthier, better and safe, and he's getting on well with joining in with activities, things which he's enjoying. They have done him a world of good and mixing with others. He's eating lots better and gets on with staff too.
Lovely staff always happy, everyone is so hard working.
