View Full Details of Carntyne Residential Care HomeMy mum spent the last years of her life at Carntyne and and received exceptional care. This included the very challenging period during COVID and the Carntyne staff became her family during lockdown. My mum was registered blind and in her latter years also suffered from dementia, but the staff dealt with these complex needs admirably. The staff turnover is minimal which meant that the same carers looked after my mum throughout and got to know her very well. They were also quick to spot any deterioration or changes in her health and acted immediately. Carntyne itself is a lovely house with well appointed rooms, a beautiful garden and is in a great location. We were able to take our mum out in Hexham in her wheelchair to the many tea shops and restaurants and into the park across the road which she thoroughly enjoyed. The Carntyne staff were also willing to take her to mass on a Sunday at the catholic church next door.
My father spent the last year of his life here, was very content and settled and received excellent care. This was no mean feat given the Covid pandemic! The staff were so kind and caring, and did everything they could to enable me to have conversations with Dad through the window, when I was unable to visit in person due to lockdown. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others and am very grateful for all they did for Dad, in challenging circumstances for everyone. Thank you so much.
