View Full Details of Holywell House Care CentreAlmost 4 years since my sister when into Holywell House Care Centre and she is still as happy. Considering she has dementia she is actually better now than when she first went there. Her mind is kept active with the activities she does and the entertainment that is on. She is enjoying life and she is happy. Thank you to all the staff.
I came into Holywell at the end of October 24 until present time on respite care, I am very well looked after and the staff are very pleasant to everyone and helpful. the run up to Christmas was full of fun, laughter and entertainment with everyone from residents to staff having. Lots of fun. Meals are varied and substantial.
My Dad came into Holywell's care on the 20th of November 2022 as an emergency respite. Over the next two years he has resided in Holwell I have witnessed every one of the staff take my dad into what I believe to be the "Holywell Family" and show him kindness and compassion as well as making him laugh and as they said to me once he seems to be improving, which is testament to your care. Sadly, as we all know the condition, he had eventually took its toll and he died peacefully in his sleep. I and my Mam were there before he passed and the hours prior, I saw staff come and say their goodbyes which was really touching and witnessed some special caring and compassionate work by all, you made sure my dad was comfortable and settled in his last hours and looked after me and my Mam exceptionally well. I cannot thank you enough from myself my Mam and the rest of the family for making my dad's last days something I will always treasure and be grateful for thank you.
An excellent home with fantastic staff who treat residents with kindness, dignity and compassion. All the staff, including cleaners, kitchen staff, and an enthusiastic activities co-ordinator, are friendly, supportive and caring which means so much to me. The manager is approachable, responsive, very caring and she and her staff go out of their way to provide a high standard of care. If there has been any concerns about my husband's care they have been dealt with promptly and efficiently and all staff adapt as required to suit individual needs and abilities. It was a very difficult and worrying time for our family when my husband couldn't live at home any longer but we are all happy with the care he is receiving and most importantly he seems happy. The home has just received a Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award for end-of-life care and is shortlisted in the Caring UK Awards for Care Home of the North so that says it all really!
My stepfather was cared for here at Holywell by an excellent team who were dedicated to his every need. It was so reassuring that our loved one was given the best possible care throughout his stay. He died in the care home and was given a very dignified passing. From me and all of our family we are eternally grateful.
Placing a parent into a care home can be a daunting experience. I’ve heard some worrying stories about elderly relatives not taking to their new surroundings and people having a generally terrible time of it. This was not our experience at Holywell House, it has been the best positive life-changing decision we could have made. The manager is not only utterly professional and knowledgeable about her job, she is kind and generous to her staff and the excellence filters through the ranks. The staff team and professionals who come to the home to work with the residents are wonderful humans and the best people for the job. My Father is now happy, he smiles, he plays games and participates in activities. A far cry from the sad lonely soul who entered the home. Alzheimer’s is cruel and there comes a time when people can no longer live on their own or with other family members. We cannot speak highly enough of the care my Father receives at Holywell House, it has changed his life.
Home from home (as near as possible) with staff who are well trained and pleasant, and a clean tidy environment. Nothing is a problem to the management, who strive to accommodate any requests within reason.
In my experience, the staff are very friendly and I have no problem when I visit my mum as I try to visit once or twice a week when I can. The kitchen and corridors are always clean and tidy and the care home seems to be well maintained.
Over the last 12 months the care home has improved 100%. There is a good activities programme, with the welcomed introduction of a social media group. My dad is safe and happy and gets along with the carers, which makes me happy. Carers are happy to have a chat about Dad and listen to any concerns that I may have. Good communication from the staff about Dad's welfare.
My family member is very happy with the service he is receiving, so therefore all family members are happy. Staff are friendly and appear to always accommodate all relative's needs. He is invited to attend activities although doesn’t always comply.
My grandma moved into Holywell House Care Home and has settled in amazingly well. She is there on a temporary basis with a view of it being made a permanent move due to her having advanced Alzheimer’s. The staff are well trained and amazing with her and all the other residents, they go above and beyond providing entertainment to keep everyone upbeat. All the residents always have a smile on their faces which says it all really! I couldn’t recommend this care home enough. Thank you for all you do.
My mother, initially, came to Holywell House for respite following a spell in hospital. The family were so pleased with the care she received that she is now a permanent resident. The manager and staff are really approachable, friendly and attentive to the resident's individual needs. My mother is safe, valued and well cared for and this is a huge relief to me and the family. I like that visitors are made to feel welcome and I have had the opportunity to join the residents in their daily planned activities, which I really enjoy.
I can't overstate how good Holywell House is, the carers, the facilities, the activities, keeping informed etc, spot on. The only moan from me would be I keep getting Mam new underwear, joggers etc and they go missing. Don't get me wrong it must be a nightmare trying to sort all the washing etc. I've put her name in the last lot but thinking of something like a button so won't wash off. Anyway, my mam is happy there and I know she's safe. Big shout out to the home administrator (didn't use name) who has been extremely helpful on many an occasion.
I was very anxious when my dad went into the care home, it seemed quite austere and I guess I was also reacting to the fact that he had reached the stage where he needed to go into care. However, I cannot praise Holywell House Care Centre highly enough for the care Dad has received. We are kept informed of all changes from a health point of view which is very reassuring. We are always made to feel welcome and any concerns that we have are dealt with immediately and professionally. The staff are very friendly and approachable and I have no doubt that the ethos of the home is to provide compassionate and appropriate care for everyone. It has been lovely to watch the home and its staff develop and grow over the last year. Thank you.
My mother is very happy here in so much as she calls it home now. We as a family are very happy with the care she is receiving. Since she has been here her state of mind is much improved and she now joins in with the activities regularly which she never did before.
